John was a former member of EBCG and has been an affliated missionary with EBCG for many years. After the the devasting explosions in Lebanon in early August (where John is based), he wrote: after the initial shock and self-assessment, people started calculating the cost of the damage and the needed repairs. YFC has 3 phases: fix up the Manara Youth Center, fix the 6 damaged staff homes and fix damaged homes of some 100 families whose kids attend the center. . . One of the signs of hope was seeing hundreds of young people (YFC kids, church youth groups, Muslim young people from other parts of Lebanon, etc.) on the streets the day after the explosion to start sweeping away broken glass, bring water to workers, etc. Beautiful sight. This gives me hope for the future of Lebanon.” In addition, YFC staff members visited families affected, provided food vouchers, paid school, medical fees and rent. The families (including Muslim and refuge families) shared that they were blessed by the care and love shown them. Prayers are needed for: the restoration of hope; against the spirit of fear, depression and discouragement; for the Lebanese people to standup and not give up; and, that we will keep our eyes on Jesus Christ our only hope.
