If you have never attended the Bash, I would suggest that you put it on your bucket list!!! We finished the summer off with our own Summer Board meeting. Treasurer's Comments:

Indiana JCI Senators,

Summer board was a blast. Had a great time.

The fellowship we have in the Senate is so

awesome. There is a lot of senators from

different states that I do not know yet. But I'm

going to have to come out of my shell and

introduce myself to you. As the year goes on I

will make sure that I will do that.

The next time we all get together, will be our

joint meeting with Kentucky in January. As

always it will be a blast, can't wait to see you

guys there.

See you all soon,

Johnny Caldwell #73985

Secretary's Comments:

Fellow Senators, Greetings! It’s an exciting time to be a

part of the greatest young persons

organization in the world… even if

you’re only young at heart not so young in age anymore.

This fall, JCI USA will be kicking off the Celebration of the

Century with numerous events and programs to recognize

the last 100 years of Jaycees and launch young active

citizenship into the next 100 years. As many of us

reminisced at the Indiana Senate’s 50th Anniversary this

past spring, the year of celebration will be a time of

stories, reconnecting with the many friendships forged

over the years, and yes maybe most importantly returning

the favor to the organization by assisting our current

members and chapters.

For me personally, joining a local chapter with no

expectations to serve beyond my community, I couldn’t

have imagined the places I would go, people I would meet

and the things I would learn along the way. Since joining

in 1993, I have had some of the most amazing experiences

in my life serving our organization at home and around

the world. As a Senator, now it’s about more than sharing

my stories and memories of a quarter century, it’s giving

back through mentoring and assisting. We all have

something to contribute whether you have half a century

or a decade of experience; so, what will you do to

celebrate the moment and support the Jaycees?

I look forward to adding to all the wonderful experiences

of my involvement, serving as the Indiana JCI Senate

Secretary on President David’s team this year. We hope

you’ll join us at an Indiana Senate event, on a committee

of the team, and celebrating the organization we all love.

Help us, help you stay connected and informed. As we

bring the roster up to date, please forward any mail, email

or other contact info changes to me at [email protected].

Celebrating Jaycees, celebrating life!

Senate Scholarship I would like to thank President David for asking me to chair the USJCI Foundation Scholarship. We again in 2019 had a winner. The young people in our state are doing a great job. I have already contacted the DOE of Indiana concerning getting our information out there to the high schools. You can help by contacting your local high school and letting them know about the scholarship. You can have them go to usjcisenate.org. At the top of the page there is information about the scholarship program plus the online application. Right now it says the new application will be on line by August 2019. Hopefully, the application will be available soon. Many 2020 seniors are already filling out applications for scholarships. I have heard

the Lily Scholarship has a September deadline. At this time of the year I always wonder how many applications we will have. As a reminder this is an ACADEMIC scholarship. Indiana is allowed to submit two applications for national judging. Please take the time to check and see if you have any family members, friends of family, or neighbors we have senior who will graduate in 2020. Have a great rest of the summer. In the Creed, Kyle Wright 41987

Event Coordinator We have been asked to give a brief introduction of ourselves, so here goes: My name is Tracy Brown Luttman, senator #54773. I received my Senatorship back in 1995 at a Jaycee convention in French Lick IN. Since I was still of Jaycee age back then, I didn’t immediately become active in the IN JCI Senate but after a few years, I did and have been active for almost 20 years! I have held the office of IN JCI Senate President twice, once from 2004-2005 and again in 2013-2014 and I was the National Vice

President for the Region 5 and US JCI Senate in 2006-2007. I live in Lanesville IN with my husband Jerry Luttman #46155 and was a member of the Lanesville Jaycees. I have chaired many events for the IN JCI Senate and I am looking forward to teaching some younger senators the nuts and bolts of these events, so I can just sit back and enjoy!

UPCOMING MEETINGS/EVENTS FOR INDIANA JCI SENATE FOR 2019-2020 MI/OH/IN BORDER BASH – THIS FALL IN NORTHERN INDIANA! The IN JCI Senate decided in the summer board meeting in August to withdraw from this event since the number of attendees has dropped over the years and trying to find a chairman has become difficult as well. We have informed OH and MI of our decision. The OH JCI senate is however going to hold the Border Bash this year the weekend of Oct. 25-27 in Napoleon OH. If you would like to attend, let us know and we can get you more info. WINTER MEETING - JANUARY 2020 Our annual SOUTHERN meeting with the KY JCI Senate will be hosted by the KY JCI Senate this year. January 17-19th, 2020 at the Holiday Inn off Hurstbourne Lane in Louisville KY. The cost before January 1st, is only $15.00 a day for Hospitality or $20.00 after that. You will be on your own for your meals. The group will be going out for dinner on Saturday. See the registration form for more information to follow!

YEAR-END MEETING – APRIL 2020 Our annual YEAR-END MEETING AND ELECTIONS will be held April 3-5, 2020 in Nashville IN at the Brown County Inn as we did in April 18. Everyone had such a good time at this facility that we have decided to have another year-end meeting there. Everyone will be on their own for their meals but we will have Hospitality every day for $20.00 a person as well as meeting/elections on Saturday April 4th at 4:00 pm. Registration form in this newsletter as well as on the website at www.injcisenate.org NATIONAL CONVENTION JUNE 2022 As you may or may not know, our own Mike Andrews #58312 is on the path to be elected the US JCI Senate President in 2021 and his year-end meeting will then be in June 2022. Mike has asked me to chair his year-end meeting and we have been looking around the state of IN and KY for a hotel facility to host this event. After about 1 ½ year of meeting with different hotels to see which ones can accommodate the needs of the US JCI Senate, it looks like we are going to go with the Crown Plaza in Louisville KY. After much discussion of this issue at the last meeting, the membership did approve a vote for me to send a Letter of Intent to host this meeting in June 2022 at the Crown Plaza in Louisville KY. In this letter of intent, it was included that not only will the IN JCI Senate be hosting this event, but the KY JCI Senate will also be hosting it as well and that Will Chester #63037 from the KY JCI Senate will be my co-chairman.

Page 5: “Good Times Are Rolling in Indiana” David Hussung · application. Right now it says the new application will be on line by August 2019. Hopefully, the application will be available

I know many of you may be asking why hold this event in Louisville KY versus Indianapolis IN and the reason being is that we could not find any hotel in Indianapolis that was big enough for our group, that would allow us to bring in any food or alcohol beverages. These are 2 items that we need to be able to do at this time, until the bid manual policies are changed and the US JCI Senate decides that a registration price can be charged to cover all food and beverages that a hotel facility wants to charge for. Also, on a personal note, since I agreed to be the chairman on this event, I also wanted a facility that was closer to me to meet with on a regular basis, once we put the bid in officially to host this event.

More information on this event will be available at the upcoming meetings. Event Coordinator Tracy Luttman #54773
