Introduction

As one of the six exhibition areas of the First CIIE, the Medical Equipment and Health Care Exhibition Area (hereinafter referred to as the Medical Exhibition Area) focuses on people’ s longing and search for a better life and healthy living. Centering on the big health industry and subdivided topics, enterprises involved in medicines, medical equipment, old-age care and rehabilitation, health-care food and other health fields are invited to attend this exhibition. By integrat-ing the “big health” whole industry chain, it aims to build into a global debut platform for “big health” products and tech-nologies featuring high-tech intelligence, personalized service, specialization and internationalization.The third Medical Exhibition Area is planned to cover a space of 60,000 square meters, using two halls, where all kinds of exhibits will be displayed in a professional manner. By virtue of the National Convention and Exhibition Center (Shanghai) venues, it will attract unlimited business opportunities.

Medicines: chemical raw materials, Western medicines, biological medicines, traditional Chinese medicines/pharma-ceutical intermediates, pharmaceutical raw materials, etc.Medical instruments, equipment and reagents, consumables, etc.: diagnostic equipment, therapeutic equipment, ward nursing and ICU equipment, endoscopy equipment, first-aid equipment, surgical instruments, life science and clini-cal instruments, environmental monitoring instruments, clinical laboratory instruments, diagnostic reagents, laboratory equipment and instruments, etc.;High value consumables: high value consumables and implants, etc.;IVD (in vitro diagnosis): biochemical diagnosis, immunodiagnosis, blood cell detection, molecular diagnosis, POCT instruments and reagents, etc.;Old-age care and rehabilitation: nursing homes, elderly supplies, rehabilitation aid products, special mobility aids, health maintenance products, etc.;Nutritional and health-care foods: health-care foods, nutrient supplements, dietary supplements, special formulas for medical use, sports nutrition foods, etc.;Others: medical cosmetology, medical tourism, medical technology, medical services, etc.

Huge potential of the medical marketThe growing demand in the medical market is driven by an increase in pop-ulation and by an increase in per capita consumption brought about by the demand for medical upgrading. With gradually heightened public health awareness and accelerating aging of the society, it is expected that the demand for medical upgrading will continue to rise, the per capita medical expenses will further increase, and the demand for quality products and services overseas will keep growing. The “big health” industry propelled by rigid market demand will develop on an ongoing basis.

In cooperation with the Ministry of Civil Affairs, the State Drug Adminis-tration and other ministries and commissions, the Expo will also hold high-quality supporting activities such as the “China Rehabilitation and Health Conference” , “China Pharmaceutical Regulatory Policy Exchange Conference” and “China Pharmaceutical Regulation Round-table Dialogue” , which will provide authoritative interpretations of new industry policies and regulations.

Achievements

A total of more than 360 exhibitors, more than 60 world top 500 and industry leaders attended the Expo.

The first CIIE attracted a total of 39 trading delegations and nearly 600 trading branches from various provinces, autono-mous regions, municipalities directly under the central govern-ment, municipalities with independent planning status, Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, central enterprises and the National Health Commission. This exhibition area ushered in more than 4,000 medical industry organizations and 360,000 times of visit, including more than 40 visiting delegations at min-isterial level and above.

The first CIIE Medical Exhibition Area saw a conclusion of intended transactions reaching 5.76 billion US dollars, of which medical equipment accounted for 4.09 billion US dollars.
