“Filipino Americans Got Talent" 2012 Criteria for entry: 1. Each act contains at least one (1) but not exceeding ten (10) members, and includes at least one (1) person of Filipino descent. 2. Two categories of contestants are 1) participants age 5 to 12 years old 2) participants age 13-24 years old. (If there are a mix of ages in the group, indicate this on the application form.) 3. Each act must be performed live by the contestant(s); for example live singing, reciting of spoken word or poetry, or dancing, etc. You may use recorded music as part of the live performance but it cannot constitute the entire performance. 4. Each performance may not last longer than 4 minutes and will be timed during the show. Points will be taken off for going over 4 minutes or the performance may be ended by the judges after 4 minutes. 4. Each act must incorporate some element of Filipino culture or history into its performance, for example, Filipino-inspired costume or dress, Philippine language or dialect, element of dance such as moves or forms, reference to a historical event, or indigenous instrument or musical elements, etc. (See below for suggestions and contact [email protected] for more information). 5. Each act must sign up for approval, include a detailed description of their act, and provide the contact information of a supervising adult by October 5 th , 2012. Late entries may or may not qualify for the contest depending on amount of entries received on time. 6. Each act will be contacted prior to the auditions for the final competition to confirm their entry. Auditions PRIOR to the final competition are required: Oct. 17 (5-12 year old contestants) and Oct. 24 (13-24 year old contestants). 7. Each act is expected to arrive 30 minutes prior to the audition and finalists must arrive two hours prior to the final competition on Oct. 27th. *Definition of “element of Filipino culture or history”: We accept any Filipino cultural or historical element that is recognizable to the Filipino and Filipino American judges. For example, a dance may incorporate Philippine dress, tinikling bamboo poles, or folk dance movements. Spoken word may include one verse in Tagalog or refer to a theme in Philippine/Filipino-American history. Singers may want to sing a piece by a Filipino composer. The contest requires family-friendly material (i.e., no profanity). Dress and choice of material should be age appropriate. Contests should come dressed prior to event. Criteria for judging include a selected number of points for overall presentation, originality, creativity, and interpretation of Filipino cultural element. FILIPINO AMERICANS GOT TALENT ON OCTOBER 27, 2012 FROM 1PM – 4PM This Agreement will be subject to, governed by and enforced pursuant to the laws of the state of California. By signing this agreement undersigned agrees that it had the full and complete opportunity to have this Agreement be reviewed by legal counsel and that this Agreement will be construed without regarding to its drafter. Additionally, if litigation, arbitration or any other proceeding is instituted to interpret or enforce this Agreement, the party prevailing in that litigation, arbitration or proceeding will be entitled to reasonable attorney’s fees, in addition to any other relief granted. This Agreement supersedes any prior or contemporaneous oral or written agreements and discussions, and may only be amended in writing. THE UNDERSIGNED HEREBY WARRANT THAT THEY HAVE READ THE ENTIRE AGREEMENT AND FULLY UNDERSTAND AND AGREE TO IT. I shall indemnify and save harmless South Bay Pavilion, and Vintage Capital Group from and against any and all loss, cost (including attorney’s fees), damages, expense and liability (including statutory liability and liability under Worker’s Compensation laws) in connection with claims for damages as a result of injury or death of any person or property damage to any property which arise from or in any manner grow out of any act or neglect on or about (property) by Organizer, Organizer’s partners, agents, employees, customers, invitees, contractors and subcontractors of the above named party.
