What is HEKATE? HEKATE is a project within the European frame-work of the University–Business Cooperation initia-tive. The main aim of the initiative is to form the so called “Knowledge Alliances”. ‘Knowledge Alliances’ are intended to bring together businesses and higher education institutions to strengthen and develop Europe’s innovation potential via the provision, for example, of new higher education learning and teaching methods.

HEKATE is positioned specifically in the topic ‘Fostering entrepreneurial skills and attitudes, by promoting transversal skills through the inclusion of enterprise education throughout higher education programmes.’

Manchester Business School (MBS) and Hamburg University of Technology together with EIRMA (European Industrial Research Management Asso-ciation), Solvay and TuTech Innovation GmbH have developed two novel workshops. TuTech coordina-tes HEKATE and takes care of the organisation of the workshop. TuTech is a technology transfer ser-vice company which has for over a decade provided support for researchers at Hamburg University of Technology in practical project management for EC supported research projects, in many cases involving intensive partnerships with industry.

These two workshops shall inspire doctoral students and researchers to engage in business opportunity creation. The workshops will convey a feeling what innovation and new business development involves.
