“Come with Me Into Babylon, Come” Jeremiah 40:4 “If it seem good unto thee to come with me into Babylon, come; and I will look well unto thee” Jeremiah 40:4. In this Bible verse we see one of the Babylonian captains of King Nebu- chadnezzar attempting to persuade the prophet, Jeremiah, to go into Babylon. Regardless of the motive or whether the invitation was well- meaning, Jeremiah refused to do so because God had not given him a message to “Go into Babylon.” While most of Israel was swept into the Babylonian captivity, Jeremiah chose to remain with the remnant of Israel and dwell in Mizpah—an area near Jerusalem (Jeremiah 40:6). Neither has God given us a mes- sage in this final hour of earth’s history to go into Babylon! Yet this is what many leaders in our beloved Seventh- day Adventist Church seem to be do- ing. There is a new spirit of coopera- tion, unity and even worship taking place between Roman Catholics and Seventh-day Adventists world-wide. Obvious efforts are being made at the highest levels to bring our people into Babylon in order to develop a closer relationship and a better understand- ing with the Papacy. In this issue we will show how this ecumenical epidemic is spreading rapidly throughout all levels - from the top lead- ers all the way down to the local church. Interfaith worship and fellowship with Rome is out of control, bringing many into full, visible unity with the Papacy. Back in Rome again? The trend continues as more SDA leaders embark down the dan-gerous path towards Rome. Seventh-day Ad-ventist Pastor, Mrs. Lidia la Montanara from Naples, Italy, traveled to the Vatican to meet Pope Francis with an ecumenical delegation1 and to offer her friendship to him. Beware of “pastors” who while professing to serve Christ have indeed already sold themselves over to the Antichrist to do his bidding.
Rome’s Agenda: Healing the Deadly Wound The call to “come into Babylon” found in Jeremiah 40:4 is the same agenda that Rome is advocating to-day. In 1964, Vatican II Council issued a decree call "Unitatis Redintegratio" which is Latin for the "restoration of unity." This is a call to reunite all of Christianity under one head, the Papacy. Rome is working overtime – trying to accelerate the mass mi-
gration of non-Catholic churches into her fellowship. This is all part of the healing of the deadly wound with the aim to bring the whole world into the Baby-lonian family and ultimately to worship the dragon. Prophecy has warned us of this – that Rome is the head of this grand movement: “I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast. And they wor-shipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast?” Revelation 13; 3, 4. How can we participate when we have been so plainly warned? This attitude on the part of some of our people is a cause of great concern. Unless we are made aware of this situation and understand the dangers associated with the ecumenical movement no steps will ever be taken to remedy the problem and reverse the trend. We are told through inspira-tion that those who pursue any union with Rome are actually in a dangerous, dismal spiritual condition. “The church that holds to the word of God is irreconcilably separated from Rome. Protestants were once thus apart from this great church of apos-tasy, but they have approached more nearly to her, and are still in the path of reconciliation to the Church of Rome. Rome never changes. Her prin-ciples have not altered in the least. She has not lessened the breach between herself and Prot-estants; they have done all the advancing. But what does this argue for the Protestants of this day? It is the rejection of Bible truth which makes men approach to infidelity. It is a backsliding church that

lessens the distance between itself and the Pa-pacy” (Signs of the Times, February 19, 1894).
Crashing the Babylonian Party God's message for this time is to come out of Babylon, not to go in. Instead of participating in the healing of the deadly wound Seventh-day Advent-ists are called to proclaim the commandments of God and to expose the wickedness of the man of sin who is causing the whole world to honor the dragon instead of God. “In the very time in which we live the Lord has called His people and has given them a message to bear. He has called them to expose the wicked-ness of the man of sin who has made the Sunday law a distinctive power, who has thought to change times and laws, and to oppress the people of God who stand firmly to honor Him by keeping the only true Sabbath, the Sabbath of creation, as holy unto the Lord” (Evangelism, 233). We have been raised up as a people to undo the damage done to God's law by the papal power of prophecy: “The Lord has a special message for His ambas-sadors to bear. They are to give the people the warning, calling upon them to repair the breach that has been made by the Papacy in the law of God” (Evangelism, 225). We are called to proclaim in a “loud voice” (Greek: mega phone) the Three Angels’ Messages of Revelation 14:6-12—and this mes-sage warns the world that “Babylon is fallen;” fallen because "her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities" Revelation 18:5; also that "sin Is the transgression of the law" 1 John 3:4. The great "breach" in God's law has been over the Sabbath - a truth that prophecy says is to be restored in our time (Isaiah 58:12-14). This world-wide proclamation is to be repeated with great power under the power of the Latter Rain. Revelation 18 tells us that the world will be light-ened with the glory of these heavenly messages which says regarding Babylon to: “Come out of her my people” Revelation 18:4.
A House of Demons Who Reject Truth Why are we commanded to come out of Baby-lon, and why are we to call others to come out? Ac-cording to God's word Babylon has become “the habitation of devils” Revelation 18:2; the house of demons: “When Satan has undermined faith in the Bible, he directs men to other sources for light and power. Thus he insinuates himself. Those who turn from

the plain teaching of Scripture and the convicting power of God's Holy Spirit are inviting the control of demons” (Desire of Ages, 258). "Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to se-ducing spirits, and doctrines of devils" 1 Timothy 4:1. This is why Pope Francis recently told a group of Protestant Chris-tians who had traveled to Rome to visit him that they need to set aside their doctrinal differ-ences and join hands with Rome to help the poor and the sick.6 We are to come out of Rome because Rome has rejected clear teachings of Scripture; that is why she doesn't want to dis-cuss doctrine. The path to inter-faith cooperation and unity that the Pope is pushing is one that does not lead us to truth but ig-nores it. According to the Vati-can, doctrine is not impor-tant. The Bible is not the final source of authority to Rome.
Counterfeit Unity "It was by associating with idolaters and joining in their fes-tivities that the Hebrews were led to transgress God’s law and bring His judgments upon the na-tion" (Patriarchs and Prophets, 458). "And Israel joined himself unto Baalpeor: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel" Numbers 25:3. "They joined themselves also unto Baalpeor, and ate the sacrifices of the dead" Psalm 126:28. Yes, we are at the very borders of eternity, and God is about to bring us to the heavenly Canaan. But before entering the promised land Israel needed to cross the Jordon. And It was at the very banks of the Jordan River that this great apostasy mentioned above took place. We are facing a challenge in Adventism that has not been seen in any other previous genera-tion. We are on the verge of seeing radical change. There is a campaign being pushed to bring us into harmony with Rome. What will be the result? It will
result in the final sell-out of our distinct message. The ancient apostasy of Israel, when she joined in the worship and festivities of Baal, is being re-peated today in our very ranks. The apostasy wit-
nessed before the crossing of the Jordan is being fulfilled among God's modern-day Israel.
Modern Baal Worship The unity being expressed is a unity of worship and not of Bible truth. There is no Bible study tak-ing place, no repentance, no con-fession and no putting away of sin or transgression. This is a fellow-ship that is based on emotional-ism. It doesn’t matter what your belief system is. It matters not if you believe in damnable heresies or even if your doctrines blas-pheme God—just come and enjoy the music, the pastries and the exhilarating experience. This kind of worship does not honor God. Jesus has told us about the only worship that God will accept: “Ye worship ye know not what…but the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship Him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth” John 4:22-24. What we are witnessing is the modern-day equivalent of the wor-ship of Baal. The Babylonians worshipped the gods of wood and stone, but we are told through in-
spiration that this generation is just as guilty of idola-try as were the ancient pagans: “In rejecting truth, men reject its Author. In tram-pling upon the law of God, they deny the authority of the Lawgiver. It is as easy to make an idol of false doctrines and theories as to fashion an idol of wood or stone. Though in a different form, idolatry exists in the Christian world today as verily as it existed among ancient Israel in the days of Elijah. The god of many professedly wise men, of philosophers, po-ets, politicians, journalists, the god of polished fash-ionable circles, of many colleges and universities, even of some theological institutions is little better

than Baal, the sun-god of Phoenicia” (Great Contro-versy, 583). We cannot become “one” with those who have rejected God’s law and have set up an idol Sabbath for the world to worship. We cannot become “one” with those who are guilty in God’s eyes of causing the world to become drunk on the wine of false doctrine. “The Protestant world has set up an idol sabbath in the place where God’s Sabbath should be, and they are tread-ing in the footsteps of the Pa-pacy” (Selected Messages, 2:359). Who Will We Follow? We cannot replace God’s 1st, 2nd and 3rd Angels’ Mes-sages for the Pope’s three counterfeit messages of peace, unity and cooperation. Instead of giving the Three Angels’ Messages, many of our people are preaching the Pope’s message and blurring doctrinal differences between our two faiths—all in the inter-est of unity. The Pope’s mes-sage on elevating unity above everything else while disre-garding the importance of Bi-ble doctrine is a disastrous and dangerous deception designed to make of none effect God’s last warning message for this world. “Satan has devised a state of things whereby the procla-mation of the third angel’s message shall be bound about. We must beware of his plans and methods. There must be no toning down of truth, no muffling of the mes-sage for this time. The third angel’s message must be strengthened and confirmed. The eighteenth chapter of
Revelation reveals the im-portance of presenting the truth in no measured terms but with boldness and power. There has been too much beating about the bush in the proclamation of the third angel’s message. The message has not been given as clearly and dis-tinctly as it should have been” (Evangelism, 230). So, should doctrinal dif-ferences be ignored so that the religious world may have unity as the Pope would have us believe? Absolutely not! Remem-ber, Rome has not changed and never will. Rome wants us to change. Christian partner-ship and fellowship without addressing major doctrinal differences, as suggested by Pope Francis, is out of step with the Bible and the Spirit of Prophecy. “Preach the word; be in-stant in season, out of sea-son; reprove, rebuke, ex-hort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to them-selves teachers, having itching ears; and they shall turn away their ears from hearing the truth, and shall be turned unto fables” 2 Timothy 4:2-4. Ecumenical Prayer Circle There was a time when the popular churches were against God’s people. Now it appears that they are for us. Notice the following statement given to us on unity and opposition: "The world is against us, the popular churches

of Judah that they commit the abominations which they commit here?” Ezekiel 8:17.
Two Churches Together as One—A special cake was prepared for the “One Heart” event represent-ing the Seventh-day Adventists and the Roman Catholics. This was a spiritual love fest showing the unity of the two churches.7

are against us, the laws of the land will soon be against us. If there was ever a time when the people of God should press together, it is now. God has committed to us the special truths for this time to make known to the world. The last message of mercy is now going forth" (Testimonies, 5:236). We are to press together in unity, but that unity is based only on the foundation of truth—the truth con-tained in God’s last message of mercy found in Revelation 14:6-12. In Ellen White's day the popular churches, includ-ing Rome, were against Seventh-day Adventists. They didn't like us because we were proclaiming the last message of mercy and calling people out of their congregations. (And they still don’t like the conserva-tive SDAs and churches which they consider fanatical and/or behind the times.) But many of our SDA breth-ren have joined “hands” and “hearts” in fellowship with Rome. It seems that Rome is no longer against us. It’s possible that Rome now loves Seventh-day Adventists, at least those who mingle and cooperate with them. How did this happen? It has been a gradual, sub-tle decline. It is sad and confusing to see our fellow-brethren who have been given sacred trust in giving the final warning to the world, abandoning the cause, now joining the ranks of the opposition. With "one heart" they are joining the Babylonian camp where the people pray and kiss the statues of dead people. Rome commands all of its followers to look to man for forgiveness of sin, to pray to and kiss images of the saints and of Mary and to worship on the pagan day of the sun. It's hard to understand how anyone can endorse worship ceremonies and manmade traditions that are not biblical. Don't allow anyone to convince you that this is okay. How do you worship with people who are deeply involved in spiritualism and prayers to the dead? We don't believe in communicating with the dead, but when we worship with Rome we are wor-shipping with people who make invocations to the dead. Rome Re-Identified We have lost sight of Rome’s true identity. We are not dealing with just another religion—oh no. We are not just dealing with an organization or some kind of earthly institution—not at all. We are not dealing with some form of government or political apparatus. Who is this beast power that makes the kings of the earth tremble by saying "Who shall make war against him?” Revelation 13:4. Who is this power that prophecy de-scribes as: “Mystery, Babylon the Great, the mother of harlots and abominations of the earth” Revelation

Circle of Unity: Catholics and Seventh-day Adventists hold hands in a prayer circle asking God to make them one in Christ. This worship service took place inside the SDA Church in Rieti, Italy. The purpose of the service was to move “beyond the doctrinal differences and divisions.” There are over 25 pictures of this event.8 The red arrows indicate the church leaders (below) who officiated.

17:5. Who is this beast that is described as the "seat" of Satan who has been given power and great authority? (Revelation 13:2). Who and what is it? Notice the straightforward description given to us by the prophet—and without any equivocation: “There is one pointed out in prophecy as the man of sin. He is the representative of Satan. Taking the suggestions of Satan concerning the law of God, which is as un-changeable as His throne, this man of sin comes in and represents to the world that he has changed that law, and that the first day of the week in-stead of the seventh is now the Sabbath” (Bible Commentary, 7:910). When Seventh-day Adventists sit down or worship with the leaders of Rome they are actually sitting down with “Satan’s representatives” on earth. Think about it. When leaders in Adventism go inside the Vatican to sit down, they are sitting in the "seat" of Satan. The "bride" (Revelation 19:7) of Christ has never been called to sit down with the bride of Satan in order to establish mutual respect, worship and cooperation. Seventh-day Adventists cannot go and cut deals with Satan’s representative or have interfaith worship with her and then come back and stand before God thinking that everything is okay. This is prideful, reckless and dangerous! God’s Work Must Continue “Notwithstanding the spiritual darkness and alienation from God that exists in the churches which constitute Babylon, the great body of Christ's true followers are still to be found in their communion” (Great Controversy, 390). There are faithful souls found in Babylon that God wants to reach. The Bible says that all of heaven rejoices over one soul who responds to God’s call and repents (Luke 15:7). But how much joy is there in heaven when men continue to transgress God’s law? How much joy is there in heaven when God's people neglect to share His saving, end-time gospel message? How much joy is there in heaven when we join in the festivities of pagan worship? May God have mercy on us all, and may He help us stay the course He has given us. "Our work is to proclaim to the world the first, second and third angels’ messages. In the discharge of our duties we are neither to despise nor to fear our enemies...We are to treat with kindness and courtesy those who refuse to be loyal to God, but we are never, never to unite with them" (Testimonies 7:107, 108).

Catholic Priest, Arnold Parungao of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Auburn, CA, gave the keynote speech at the SDA church. His opening words were: "I am a Catho-lic Priest preaching at our Adventist Church."10
When Priest Parungao is not speaking in SDA churches he is found in his own church perform-ing mass.
