− external steam flow (NPP 2nd circuit)
− secondary steam flow (WDP 2nd circuit)
− produced water
• Evaluation of possible desalination plant nuclear
contamination due to NPP accident
SAFETY ASPECT

Advantages of Desalination Plant Integrated with NPP
Cost of desalinated water is 10% cheaper
compared to stand-alone desalination plant
The service life corresponds to that of NPP’s–
60 years and more
Economy of scale due to joint infrastructure
with NPP: land, roads, buildings, water
supply system, and personnel
Absence of electricity and heat
transportation costs for the operation of the
desalination plant
ECONOMIC
Output of the plant up to 170,000
m3/day
High maneuverability of the plant: ability
to produce water even when a NPP unit is
shut down for refuelling
Technological processes of the
desalination plant and NPPs are
integrated at the design stage
Optimal process flow design
Shared water intake and spillway facilities
PRODUCTION ENVIRONMENTAL
< LLD* - liquid radiation emission level
Minimal impact on the climate due to the
use of a low

Industrial Wastewater Treatment
Water economy of industrial project. Environmentally friendly scheme
“Rusatom Smart Utilities” offers a complex solution for wastewater treatment based on the recycling of water supply and repeated water reuse
cycles within the whole project, that ensures the greatest possible reduction in the consumption of natural water and the volume of waste. That
approach can drastically improve CAPEX and OPEX of a project
“Clean Water” Projects 12© 2019 JSC «Integrated Thermal Power Company»
Advantages of a Modern Technological Scheme
A complex approach, aimed at reducing costs
Local wastewater treatment provides
greater efficiency in the treatment of
individual components of effluents
Waste water system «Zero Liquid
Discharge» allow full reuse of water and
eliminates the discharge of liquid effluents
Minimizing the amount of wastewater
reduces the negative impact on the
environment
If quality of wastewater meets legislative
standards than it is possible to reuse water
in technological cycle, since
characteristics of such water exceed those
of the original water by a number of
parameters. In this case, natural
consumption of water decreases
