With the advent of a new year, there is a mixed bag of emotions for people. Some look to the new year with eagerness in anticipation of the new opportunities a new year brings. For others, facing a new year can bring feelings of fear, hopelessness and despair because we live in uncertain times. There is uncertainty with the economy. There is uncertainty about employment for the unemployed or underemployed. There is uncertainty about the safety of their families in these times of terrorism and the list of uncertainties goes on. But despite all this, we can have certainty in uncertain times. During my devotional time, I came across a meditation by Michael Carter that addresses how people can have certainty in uncertain times. I share it with you with the hope you can share it with others and bring to all hope and reassurance as we face the new year. Soon, the old year will end, and the new year will come. With each New Year, people make resolutions, they think about the changes that they want to make in their lives. Each new year brings with it change. People just want to put the past behind them and look to the coming year, hoping that the new year will be better than the last. Yes, with each new year, things change. But for some people, there are things that don’t seem to change at all - they just seem to remain the same. Some people will struggle with old addictions. Or with financial problems or with problems, concerns and worries that just don’t seem to go away. For such people, nothing seems to change, at least for the better. While some of the struggles of daily life will remain even as the year changes, one truth shall never change. Holy Scripture teaches that Jesus Christ will never change. As it is written; Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”(Hebrews 13:8) This is an absolute comfort to know. While times change and nothing seems certain; the love that Christ has for each one of us never changes. He is always faithful and will never leave us in our time of need. Even though we are entering a new year, there is still a lot of uncertainty. But we can go forth into this new year in the name of Jesus. In the name of him who has declared: “I am the Lord, I change not…”(Malachi 3:6) As we begin this new year with all of its changes and challenges, let us do so in the mighty name of Jesus. He is, and shall always be, the same now and through all eternity. His love, forgiveness and compassion will always be there for us. As he has been our anchor and strength during this past year, so he shall be our anchor and our strength in this coming year, and in years to come. As the years pass away, as times change, praise be to Jesus Christ! For he is the same yesterday, today, and forever! As Michael Carter writes, “In the mighty name of Jesus” when can go forth into the year 2014 A.D. with certainty in these uncertain times because Jesus Christ is unchanging – he was our anchor and strength in 2013 and he will be the same in 2014! Happy New Year in Christ Jesus! Pastor Barry B

y the time you receive this newsletter 2013 will have already passed. With the advent of a new

year, there is a mixed bag of emotions for people. Some look to the new year with eagerness in

anticipation of the new opportunities a new year brings. For others, facing a new year can bring

feelings of fear, hopelessness and despair because we live in uncertain times. There is uncertainty with

the economy. There is uncertainty about employment for the unemployed or underemployed. There is

uncertainty about the safety of their families in these times of terrorism and the list of uncertainties goes

on. But despite all this, we can have certainty in uncertain times.

During my devotional time, I came across a meditation by Michael Carter that addresses how people

can have certainty in uncertain times. I share it with you with the hope you can share it with others and

bring to all hope and reassurance as we face the new year.

Soon, the old year will end, and the new year will come. With each New Year, people make resolutions, they think about the changes that they want to make in their lives. Each new year brings with it change. People just want to put the past behind them and look to the coming year, hoping that the new year will be better than the last. Yes, with each new year, things change. But for some people, there are things that don’t seem to change at all - they just seem to remain the same. Some people will struggle with old addictions. Or with financial problems or with problems, concerns and worries that just don’t seem to go away. For such people, nothing seems to change, at least for the better. While some of the struggles of daily life will remain even as the year changes, one truth shall never change. Holy Scripture teaches that Jesus Christ will never change. As it is written;

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”(Hebrews 13:8)

This is an absolute comfort to know. While times change and nothing seems certain; the love that Christ has for each one of us never changes. He is always faithful and will never leave us in our time of need. Even though we are entering a new year, there is still a lot of uncertainty. But we can go forth into this new year in the name of Jesus. In the name of him who has declared:

“I am the Lord, I change not…”(Malachi 3:6)

As we begin this new year with all of its changes and challenges, let us do so in the mighty name of Jesus.

As Michael Carter writes, “In the mighty name of Jesus” when can go forth into the year 2014 A.D.

with certainty in these uncertain times because Jesus Christ is unchanging – he was our anchor and

Let Every Day Be Christmas

by Norman Wesley Brooks

Christmas is forever, not for just one day,

for loving, sharing, giving, are not to put

away

like bells and lights and tinsel, in some box

upon a shelf.

The good you do for others is good you do

yourself.

Peace on Earth, good will to men,

kind thoughts and words of cheer,

are things we should use often

and not just once a year.

Remember to the Christ-child, grew up to be

a man;

to hide him in a cradle,

is not our dear Lord's plan.

So keep the Christmas spirit, share it with

others far and near,

from week to week and month to month,

throughout the entire year!
