For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 3:10-11 Hello dear friends, family and supporters. We are nearing the end of our limited-term missions assignment at Humphrey Hospitality House in South Korea. God has been doing some wonderful things in the lives of soldiers and family members here. Not long after we arrived, we heard about a female soldier who wanted to be baptized because of her renewed faith. A Chaplain, we had just met, made it happen before he PCS’d. Later, I met this female soldier in the women’s evening Bible study (PWOC). Her name is Joy and she is an officer in charge of other soldiers. We may have met Joy at our first duty station 20 years ago!! At that time, she would have been around the tender age of 6. Joy came to our chapel’s VBS (Vacation Bible School)! Were the seeds of the Gospel planted at such a tender age? I believe that God was preparing her heart even back then. Someone in her life planted the seed, another watered and God caused the growth (1 Corinthians 3:7-9). How amazing to be co- laborers with Christ and with the rest of His Body. I (Bev) am in Bible study with this CPT, some 20 years later. Together we are encouraging one another in God’s Word as we continue to grow in Christ. Stan is teaching through a series called Language of Faith. A young teen came up to him last week and said, “I like how you teach.” On this particular week, he taught on the Hebrew word “kavod,” meaning glory. That teaching resonated with those in the group that evening as we looked at the “glory of God.” We continued hearing about “kavod” over the next few days as people began to notice the “kavod” (glory) of God in nature, in His Word, in their life. There’s nothing more precious than when God’s Word causes His children to draw in closer as He continues to grow them. Next, we want to share about Andrea. We got to know her on a planned outing to Daechon Beach with the Humphreys Hospitality House. She rode in the van with us to our destination. Andrea is an officer who works in Behavioral Health. Anyone in this field knows how taxing it can be, and that burnout often happens. Now, add in a tour of duty in a foreign country, long hours, no car, and your husband and family are in the states. Your job is to listen to soldiers in crisis and help them. She was running near empty. At the last minute she decided to come along for the day with a friend. That day God did what only God can do. He restored her smile. She was rejoicing the whole way home and spoke her words of gratitude again and again. Even the next day she said, “I’m still smiling.” How precious is the “kavod” of God in His creation and children that help to restore a weary and parched soul. Last story for this newsletter. We had a “military family reunion” over Memorial Day, as one of our dearest Army friends’ son, James, came for a visit! He just happens to be stationed in Korea at the same time that we are here. was in elementary school in Germany at that time. His father was our sponsor into Germany, another Army

chaplain! Our families became good friends. Our stories loosely intertwined even back to high school!!! James is now a CPT in the Air Force, in a very unique role (we can’t tell you what he does). It was a day of

refreshing, as we reunited with another Army brat, who is now grown. It was a day to put the intensity of the job aside and just breathe.

Hospitality goes a long way. It allows us to create a place where strangers become friends and the seat at the table says “welcome home, you

have a place here.” It’s a place where hearts are eager to hear good news. Jesus is waiting at the door.

This is a glimpse of what Cadence missionaries do on a weekly basis. We “share the Gospel and our lives with the military community.” Our prayer is that we end well, as we continue to “build with care” on our firm foundation, Jesus Christ. May God get all the glory. We’re just pleased as can be that He would call us to this place at this time.

Below are a few of our co-laborers, permanent Cadence missionaries, here in South Korea and Asia. Please include them in your prayers also. Chris & Jenny for whom we are providing temporary support.

Mike works with single soldiers and geo-bachelors (married soldiers serving this tour without their family). He supports the Hospitality House with his presence and encouragement.

Dave and Bonnie work with Marines in Okinawa and are the Asia-Pacific Directors for Cadence. Michael and Jonna run a hospitality

house for Airmen near Osan Air Force Base.

Thank you for your financial giving, which makes this possible. Your prayers mean so much to us, as we minister to the military in South Korea.

Folks ask us about our needs. If the Lord leads, here are some ways you can be involved with our ministry:

Friday Ministry Costs (Total Cost: $3,600) We have spent $2200 so far.

Travel Account (Total Cost: $2500) Round trip airfare
