“ALL WHO WANDER ARE NOT LOST” AUGUST 2017 www.queencitycoopers.com Sponsored by www.cincinnatimini.com Boot Join us for our August event 8/5- MINI on the Mack 8/12th- MINIs and Miatas 8/19-Motor-In, By Michael Scott WELL DONE QCC!!! We have some incredible events coming up for QCC members in August, but before we get into that, I just want to thank everyone for the unbelievable turnout at the British Car Day Show. What a day!! From the fantastic "staging" breakfast hosted by the Cusicks at The Coop, to our Grand Entrance at the show, to set-up, load-out, and everything in between, in true Not Normal fashion YOU MADE QCC LOOK GREAT!!! I really don't think the British Car Club knew what to expect when they invited us, but Queen City Coopers STOLE THE SHOW!!! There's a full article about the show elsewhere in the Boot and Bonnet so I won't go into a lot of detail here, but between the outstanding display of shiny MINIs, your amazing interactions with the crowd, and your dedication, you really showed the attendees (and me) what a fantastic organization QCC truly is. YOU MAKE ME PROUD... And now, on to August! The month kicks off with one of the largest MINI events in the world, MINI on the Mack! At the deadline for Boot and Bonnet submissions (July 20th), we have 16 MINIs registered for the trek north to St. Ignace, Michigan to join in the Guiness World Record attempt on August 5th for the longest parade of Mini/MINI cars by crossing the Mackinac Bridge. Some of us will be leaving on Thursday, others on Friday, but you can be sure that whenever you arrive, or wherever you're staying, the biggest and best party will be at the Cedars Motel. And...it's never too late to register, so come join us! The following week brings another fun opportunity to interact with some of our favorite friends in the Miata Club! Many of us miss out on the annual MINIs and Miatas event because we can't commit to the multiple day event. This one, hosted by the Fenkers on August 12th, is slated as a two-hour drive through the scenic Kentucky countryside, ending at the Florence Freedom Stadium for a Frontier League baseball game! The Freedom has long been known as a family-friendly venue for great fun, great food, and some really excellent baseball. The Freedom loves the idea of seeing us, and has assigned us specialized parking and will be featuring both clubs on the Jumbotron!! Oh, and did I mention that August 12th also features a bourbon and tequila tasting at the stadium? (Bring a DD and Drive Safely) A block of tickets is reserved and details posted on the website. And now for something completely different... Due to MINI on the Mack, the August Motor-In has been scheduled for Saturday, August 19th AND YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS THIS ONE!!! Hosted by the Bingmans, the August Motor-In takes us to the Antiques Capital of the Midwest, Waynesville, Ohio! Mark and Linda have reserved a private dining room for us at the Village Family Restaurant for lunch at 12:30. The meeting will follow lunch, and then it's off to "a step back in time to Small Town USA" for leisurely wandering and shopping in Waynesville's more than 60 shops (I hope there's a bakery...). Bring some walking shoes, because this sounds like a great opportunity to slow down the pace a bit and enjoy a late Summer stroll. Well, that's it for August. It's shaping up to be a fantastic month already, but that doesn't mean that we can't slip in another drive or two, even if it's short notice. Contact Hector, and we'll get it on the schedule and out on an e-mail blast. and again, thank you all for everything you do... In the meantime, CHEERS!! and MOTOR ON!!! & Bonnet

Secretary Input: Minis Met Cousins

What happened when Mini Coopers met cousins Jaguar, Austin-Healey, MG, Lotus, Morris, Aston Martin and others on Sunday, July 9th? Camaraderie and fun! British Car Day was the perfect opportunity to compare cars' anatomies, accessories and personalizations. Hundreds of smiles were exchanged, children admired and silliness abounded. People gathered under shady, old trees to swap adventures and experiences. Old friendships were rekindled, and new friends were made. Queen City Cooper, all thirty of us, "owned the show!" Mini was the featured car, and we excelled. Pride abounded as owners washed, waxed and detailed cars for showtime.8 a.m. Sunday found Minis and owners at the Cusick's home for breakfast before parade time. Excitement mounted; then growls, purrs, and revving engines accompanied us to William Harbin Park. Canopies unfolded, our banner unfurled, face painting supplies, new accessories, British photo ops for selfies, membership materials, bubbles and balloons were ready to greet our guests with QCC enthusiasm. Ten more Minis cruised in and our "family" socialized and enjoyed sharing Mini stories of the Dragon, Tree of Shame, Taking the States, ice cream runs, doughnut trails, QCC events and the big challenge of the Mack! New members signed up, and we look forward to creating adventures with them."A spot of tea" and homemade scones added ambiance and made for good PR with other British car owners. A wonderful time came to a close, and we began to dismantle. Then a perfect ending occurred as we learned Tom Foster, our QCC President, had been awarded second in class. Congrats,Tom. Scully was gorgeous! Davis Kramer was awarded third in class. Congrats, Davis! There was another winner who took his ribbon but forgot his trophy. Kudos, Mysterious One! Off we wander to set a new record in the Guinness Book of World Records for Mini on the Mack. Will we break it? Who knows, but everyone knows we will have a blast trying!
