Jesus my Lord; He is the mighty King, master of everything, His name is Wonderful, Jesus my Lord. He’s the great Shepherd, the Rock of All Ages, almighty God is He; bow down before Him, love and adore Him; His name is Wonderful, Jesus, my Lord.”

LUKE 10:38-42 (NIV) “As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman

named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, ‘Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!’ ‘Martha, Martha,’ the Lord answered, ‘you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.’”

WE HAVE GATHERED AS A FAMILY OF FAITH Ninth Sunday after Pentecost

July 21, 2013 9:15 a.m.

The Church at Litchfield Park, aspiring to be as inclusive as the love of God, welcomes everyone who comes to the doors of this House of Prayer for all People.

CHIMES WELCOME, REGISTRATION and ANNOUNCEMENTS PRELUDE “How Great Thou Art” arr. Weber BRINGING IN THE LIGHT CALL TO WORSHIP: L: Christ calls his church to be in ministry. Sometimes that ministry involves busy activity. Other times it means quiet meditation. P: We have been involved in both. But we get upset when others avoid the difficult tasks that must be done. L: Perhaps we misinterpret the ministry Christ is asking for, just as Martha did when she became upset with Mary, who would not help her. P: We need to understand more about the ministry Jesus is asking of us so that we may serve according to his will, not ours. HYMN “I Sing the Mighty Power of God” No. 128 CONFESSION OF THE CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY Prayer of Confession: (In Unison)

Forgive us, Father, for trying to minister on your behalf without understanding what the ministry is you are asking of us. We are geared to be busy people and tend to feel that only busyness accomplishes your will. Lead us in new understanding of what it means to be in ministry. Give us the ability to know when to be in meditation, and when to be in motion. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
