Steps for correct compositionFor correct composition of type designation, follow the following steps. As described and illustrated on the example.
1. Determination of circuit breaker type in the catalogue content - 3 or 4-pole circuit breaker/switch-disconnector for AC or DC application of fixed or withdrawable design
2. Determination of the type designation basis according to - connection type
- rated current
- rated ultimate short-circuit breaking capacity
3. Determination of overcurrent release - for selection it is possible to use detailed table on page 9 „Data for selection of overcurrent release“
4. Selection of basic accessories - drives, auxiliary releases and switches
5. Selection of additional accessories
It is also possible to order separately delivered accessories for the circuit breakers.
Steps 1 - 4 are mandatory for the composition of complete type designation for ordering. Step 5 depends on other requirements for the circuit breaker.

If parallel or serial connections are made directly on the main leads of the circuit breaker, the for thermal reasons
the circuit breakers can by permanently loaded only by 80 % of permissible rated current. If these connections are

Arc chute covers3WL9111-0AS..-0AA0 or complement code „R10“Arc chute cover is used for the protection of the switchgear
equipment, which is installed directly above the circuit breaker arch
chutes. The cover is optional accessory for the withdrawable device.
Coding of withdrawable device 3WL111-0AR12-0AA0Withdrawable circuit breaker and withdrawable device can be
optionally equipped with an additional coding device, which is
set according to the circuit breaker equipment. The coding device
enables custom coding of both the circuit breaker and withdrawable
device according to installed equipment. If the frame and the circuit
breaker have diff erent codes, it is not possible to slide the circuit
breaker into the withdrawable device. The coding device has 36
diff erent codes.
Insulation cover3WL9111-0AP..-0AA0 or complement code „R21“Insulation cover consists of insulating strips, which cover lamellar
contacts of main current paths in the withdrawable device. The
insulation cover prevents from contact with the live parts of the
device. The insulation strips can be lifted manually from the
protective position by a lever. The insulation strips can be fi xed in
various positions by padlocks, which prevent from unauthorized
handling.
DescriptionWithdrawable circuit breaker/switch-disconnector is intended for
harsh industrial environment, which requires quick replacement
of the circuit breaker, frequent inspections, and visible, galvanic
disconnection of the circuit.
Circuit breaker positions in the withdrawable device
Coding device according to rated currentWithdrawable circuit breaker and withdrawable device are normally
equipped with coding device according to rated current. This coding
device enables insertion into the withdrawable device only of the
circuit breaker of relevant size, with compatible size of contact blades
of the main current paths.

OVERCURRENT RELEASES 3P 4P
Description
Basic descriptionThe overcurrent releases are used for protection of
transformers, lines, circuits, motors and other devices
such as, for example, frequency converters etc. For each
application it is possible to select an optimal overcurrent
release according to requirements from the viewpoint of
protective and other functions, e.g. data communication.
For more information about data communication and
measuring function see page 82. Overcurrent releases are
electronic and controlled by a microprocessor. They work
independently of the voltage in the circuit. The overcurrent
releases do not need an external power supply for their
protective function. The power supply is necessary, if the
circuit breaker is equipped with measuring function Plus
or data communication. All overcurrent releases enable the
control of rated current in the range 0.4 ÷ 1 In. Overview
of parameters of overcurrent releases is on page 72. On
other pages there is a description of individual overcurrent
releases including tripping characteristics. Overcurrent
release models ETU45B and higher enable the setting of
I4t = constant The tripping (time-current) characteristic
thus gets near to the fuse time-current characteristic.
This ensures higher degree of selectivity between the
circuit breaker and the fuses. Eventual failure of the
microprocessor is signaled on all releases by red LED.
DisplayOvercurrent release ETU45B can be equipped with a 4-line
LCD display. Overcurrent release ETU76B has an integrated
graphic display. The displays can show, for instance, the
values of measured quantities in a circuit. The parameters
of the overcurrent release ETU76B are set by means of the
display and push-buttons.
Overcurrent release parameter settingFor overcurrent releases ETU15B to ETU45B, the basic
parameters of protective functions are set by means of
rotary switches. Some other parameters of the overcurrent
release ETU45B are set only via data communication. These
functions are only accessible if the circuit breaker is equipped
with measuring function Plus see page 82. Overcurrent
release ETU76B can be set directly by means of push-buttons
and display via menu or also via data communication.
Rated current moduleThe overcurrent releases, except ETU15B, contain a „Rated
current module”. Normally, each circuit breaker is equipped
with a rated current module of the rating corresponding
to maximum rated current of the circuit breaker. If a lower
rated current of the circuit breaker is required, it is possible
to deliver the circuit breaker with an overcurrent release
containing the rated current module of required value, see
page 27. The rated current module can also be replaced
additionally to decrease the rated current of the circuit
breaker, see page 35. The rated current module can be used
for permanent or temporary reduction of the rated current.
For example, in commissioning of a new plant a lower rated
current is needed initially. The rated current control 0.4 ÷ 1 In
depends on the rated current of the module and not on the
maximum current of the circuit breaker.

Switchable set of parametersOvercurrent releases ETU76B allow for setting of two
parameter sets (two various tripping characteristics) in the
memory for protection of two different devices. By simple
switching over between these sets of parameters (for
ETU76B via data communication and for ETU76B also via the
menu of the release) the circuit breaker is ready to protect
other device in 200 ms.
N conductor protection or switchingN conductor protection is ensured by overcurrent releases
ETU27B or higher. For current measuring N conductor, the
3-pole circuit breaker must be completed by an external
current transformer for N conductor, see page 36. 4-pole
circuit breakers must be equipped with an internal current
transformer for N conductor, see page 28. For 4-pole circuit
breakers without the internal current transformer for N
conductor N conductor is only switched. For possible setting
of N conductor protection see the table on page 72.

Testing of overcurrent releases and disconnection signallingThe functionality of an overcurrent release can be tested
on the overcurrent release itself. Basic test of protective
functions of the overcurrent release is activated by pressing
the „TEST“ key on the overcurrent release. Overcurrent
releases can also be tested by special testers see page 35. For
more information, please contact OEZ’s technical support.

Overcurrent releases can signal a cause of disconnection by
means of LEDs. LEDs are installed directly on the overcurrent
release. The signalling can be activated by „QUERY“ key. The
LED corresponding to the protective function which caused
the circuit breaker disconnection, lights when the key is
pressed. The overcurrent release remembers the cause of the
last disconnection until its memory is cleared by „CLEAR“ key,
however maximum for 24 hours.
Tripping characteristicsEach type of the Arion overcurrent release has its own
characteristic. Complete characteristic of a release is created by
combining individual parts of characteristics. Characteristics
illustrate the response of the overcurrent release to current
under the state, when current already passes through
the circuit breaker. If the overcurrent release is activated
immediately after the circuit breaker closing i.e. when the
overcurrent release has not measured current, the relevant
switching off time is extended by up to 15 ms depending on the
value of the current. Time and current tolerance are specified
for the characteristics. The characteristics are valid at ambient
temperature –5 up to +55 °C. The release can be operated
at –20 up to +70 °C. For these temperature there is an extended
tolerance range. The circuit breaker with overcurrent release
ETU76B with graphic display can be operated at temperature
up to +55 °C. See program Sichr for visual demonstration
of the tripping characteristics.
Reset after circuit breaker switching off by overcurrent releaseAfter circuit breaker switching off by an overcurrent release,
the overcurrent release must be reset. It is not possible to
switch on the circuit breaker without the overcurrent release
reset. After the circuit breaker switching off by overcurrent
release, the red indicating push-button on the overcurrent
release, which is used for mechanical local signalling of
„switched off by overcurrent release“ and also for local
manual reset of the overcurrent release, slips out.
Automatic resetThe circuit breaker can be equipped with automatic reset
function (complement code „K01“). If the circuit breaker
is equipped with this function, after its switching off
by overcurrent release, the overcurrent release is reset
automatically immediately and the circuit breaker is ready-
to-close. The red indicating push-button remains extended
after the automatic reset. It signals the circuit breaker
switching off by overcurrent release until its manual or
remote reset.
Remote resetThe circuit breaker equipped with the automatic reset can be
also equipped with remote reset. The remote reset function
makes it possible to carry out remote electrical reset of
the indicating push-button signalling the switching off by
overcurrent release. It is also possible to perform manual
reset of the indicating push-button.
Overcurrent release sealingIt is possible to put a sealable transparent cover on the
overcurrent release. The elements used for parameter setting
are covered, and thus unauthorized access to parameter
setting is eliminated. The openings in the cover enable access
to query and test push-buttons. There is also a lockable cap,
which prevents from manual reset of the „switched off by
overcurrent release“ indicator.

DescriptionThe earth fault protection module measures earth fault current.
Adjustable delay (time lag) enables selective sequencing of
more circuit breakers. On the module it is possible to select the
function of signalling or tripping (Alarm/Trip) at exceeding of a
set limit of the earth current. By pressing the Query push-button
the tripping cause is indicated by LED. In the overcurrent release
ETU27B the earth fault protection module is integrated. Releases
ETU45B, ETU55B and ETU76B are available in two variants.
Without earth fault protection module or with integrated earth
fault protection module.

Method of measuring1. Vectorial sum of currentsOvercurrent release measures currents in all three phases and
also in N conductor and evaluates earth fault current by means of
vectorial addition of these currents. 3-pole circuit breakers must
be completed by an external measuring current transformers
for N conductor see page 40. 4-pole circuit breakers must be
equipped with an internal current transformer for N conductor,
see page 28.
2. Direct measuring of earth fault currentDirect measuring of earth fault current is performed by
measuring current transformer with ratio 1200 A/1A and class
of accuracy 1. Internal resistance of the circuit for the measuring
current transformer connection is 0.11 Ohm. The measuring
current transformer is installed on the earth conductor of the
(power) transformer unit.
SettingFor ETU27B and ETU45B release the earth fault protection
module is set by switches. For ETU76B it is set via menu or
communication.

Description
MeasuringCircuit breaker equipped with relevant modules can measure
electrical quantities in the protected circuit. E.g. current, volt-
age or power output. The values can be displayed directly on
the overcurrent release display or transferred by means of data
communication.
Data communicationData communication can be implemented via PROFIBUS or
MODBUS protocol. Values can be obtained also in analog form
via CubicleBUS module. Another method of transfer of the
measured value is via BDA adapter with Ethernet protocol. This
makes it possible to view the values on a standard PC. This so-
lution is intended above all for service actions.
The circuit breaker equipped with data communication enables:
remote control
setting of overcurrent release parameters
state monitoring
transfer of measured values
GDS fi les necessary for control unit programming will be de-
livered on request.

At short-circuit in the protected circuit, the aff ected circuit breaker sends “short-
circuit protected” alarm. Consequently, the system can determine the place of
short-circuit, and disconnect the circuit breaker, which is closest to the short-
circuit in the energy fl ow direction. Higher-level circuit breakers are in standby
mode. If the circuit breaker, which is closest to the short-circuit, does not send the
information of the short-circuit (for example, the circuit breaker is set incorrectly),
the short-circuit will switch off the closest higher-level circuit breaker immedi-
ately, without waiting for expiration of selectivity time.

DescriptionAuxiliary switchesThe switches signal always the state of main contacts of
the circuit breaker. Each circuit breaker is equipped with
auxiliary switch with two make and break contacts. The
circuit breaker can by completed by additional switch.
Signal switch „switched off by overcurrent release“– designation in the diagram: S24
This switch signals the circuit breaker disconnection by over-
current release due to overload, short-circuit or earth fault.
The signal switch is optional accessory. If the circuit breaker
is equipped with data communication, this switch is standard
accessory.

cator of readiness to closing. The switch enables repote signa-
lling „ready-to-close“. The signal switch is optional accessory. If

SHUNT TRIPS, AUXILIARY POWER SOURCES FOR SHUNT TRIPS 3P 4P
DescriptionShunt tripShunt trip causes immediate disconnection of the circuit
breaker when voltage is applied on it. The shunt trip is deliv-
ered in the version for short-time excitation (overexcitation)
with load factor 5 % and in the variant for continuous excita-
tion with load factor 100 %. Continuously excited overcurrent
release enables circuit breaker blocking in disconnected state
and blocking of eventual circuit breaker reclosing. It is possible
to buy an auxiliary power source for shunt trip, which enables
circuit breaker disconnection at interruption of control circuit
power supply.
Auxiliary release signal switchShunt trip state is signaled by the auxiliary signal switch.
UNDERVOLTAGE RELEASES 3P 4P
DescriptionUndervoltage releaseUndervoltage release causes instantaneous disconnection of
the circuit breaker at drop of control voltage of the release
under a specifi ed limit or at full loss of voltage. If the under-
voltage release is not excited, it is not possible to switch on the
circuit breaker mechanically or electrically. The undervoltage
release is delivered in two variants. Short-time delayed with
delay of 80 or 200 ms and long-time delayed with delay of 0.2
to 3.2 s.

DescriptionLocking device against unauthorized closingThis function prevents from circuit breaker closing and
meets the requirements of EN 60 204 (VDE 0113) for safe
disconnection from the network. The locking device is ef-
fective only on given circuit breaker. After circuit breaker
replacement, the closing is not prevented until the new
circuit breaker is locked against unauthorized closing. After
activation of the locking device the circuit breaker must be
switched off . The lock is eff ective only with withdrawn key.
The key can be withdrawn only in position “OFF”. With the
circuit breaker “ON” the locking device is blocked.
Locking device against unauthorized closing, inde-pendent of the circuit breakerThis special function for withdrawable circuit breakers pre-
vents from circuit breaker closing, is independent of the cir-
cuit breaker, and meets the requirements of EN 60 204 (VDE
0113) for safe disconnection from the network. It prevents
from unauthorized closing of the circuit breaker also after
its replacement by other circuit breaker. The locking is eff ec-

tive only with the circuit breaker switched off and the key
withdrawn. The key can be withdrawn only in position “OFF”.
With the circuit breaker “ON” the locking device is blocked.
Protective caps for mechanical ON/OFFThey prevent from unauthorized closing/opening of the cir-
cuit breaker on the control panel. For the variant with lock-
ing by means of a safety lock, it is only possible to press the
push-buttons, if the key is inserted. The circuit breaker can
be switched ON/OFF remotely. The lock is eff ective only with
withdrawn key. For the variant with locking by means of a
padlock, the push-buttons are covered by the caps with hole
of diameter 6.5 mm. The holes enable the circuit breaker
control by means of a special tool.
Locking devices of the storage device leverThe storage device hand drive lever can be locked by a pad-
lock. After it, it is not possible to wind up the storage device
by the lever.
Locking devices against shiftingIt prevents from withdrawal of the crank for circuit breaker
shifting. The circuit breaker is thus secured against with-
drawing. The lock is eff ective only with withdrawn key.
Blocking device against shifting of the circuit breaker at opened switchboard door The crank for circuit breaker withdrawing/inserting is blocked
and cannot be withdrawn. Circuit breaker cannot be moved.
The blocking is eff ective only with the crank inserted.
Blocking device against switchboard door openingBlocking is transferred by Bowden cable.
Ft is not possible to open the switchboard door, if:

Example of possible interlocking
Mechanical interlocking can block 2 or 3 circuit breakers/
switch-disconnectors. The mechanical interlocking is solved
by means of Bowden cables. It is possible to interlock circuit
breakers and switch-disconnectors of both fi xed and with-
drawable design.
For example, it is possible to block 3 devices: 2 circuit break-
ers of withdrawable design and one switch-disconnector of
fi xed design. Mechanical interlocking is only functional if the
circuit breaker of withdrawable design is in operating posi-
tion. The distance between blocked circuit breakers/switch-
disconnectors is given by the length of the used Bowden ca-
bles. Circuit breakers/switch-disconnectors can be installed
next to each other or above each other. Circuit breakers/
switch-disconnectors equipped with mechanical interlocking
are standardly equipped with 2 m Bowden cables. It is possi-
ble to buy separately Bowden cables of the length 2 m, 3 m or
4.5 m. At use of mechanical interlocking for three circuit
breakers/switch-disconnectors, it is necessary to order to
each circuit breaker/switch-disconnector separately one ad-
ditional Bowden cable of relevant length. Mechanical endur-
ance of the mechanical interlocking is 10 000 cycles.
Conditions of use and correct function of mechanical interlocking:
Bowden cables must be, if possible, led straight, without
undue bends
bend radius of the Bowden cable must be higher than 500 mm
the sum of all bend angles of the Bowden cable must not
be higher than 640°
at arrangement of the interlocked circuit breakers/
switch-disconnectors above each other the interlocking
mechanismus must be in row above each other

which must be led according to the mentioned rules

DescriptionHand driveEach circuit breaker is equipped with the hand drive. Hand drive
lever is used for mechanical loading of the storage device.
Motor driveIt is used for automatic loading of the storage device of the
closing mechanism. The motor drive is switched on automati-
cally, if the storage device is not loaded(if supply voltage is
applied). After storage device loading, the motor drive is
switched off automatically. Manual storage device loading by
a lever is independent of the motor drive.
Motor drive switchIt switches the motor drive off .
Operating cycle counterThe circuit breaker with the motor drive can be equipped with
5-place cycle counter. The counter adds „1” after each full stor-
age device loading.
Closing releaseIt enables local (by electrical ON push-button on the front
control panel) or remove switching the circuit breaker on by
electrical pulse. The closing release is delivered in the version
for short-time excitation (overexcitation) with load factor 5 %
and in the version for continuous excitation with load factor
100 %. Circuit breakers switching on by means of mechanical
“ON” push-button on the front panel of the circuit breaker is
independent of the closing release.

Utilization category defi nes the assumed use of switch devices (switch-disconnectors). Characterised
by values of current and voltage, expressed as multiples of rated operating current and rated operating
voltage, and further by power factors or time constants of the circuit.
Utilization category: AC-21B (DC-21B) - infrequent switching of resistive loads, including moderate overloading
AC-22B (DC-21B) - infrequent switching of mixed resistive and inductive loads, including moderate overloading
AC-23B (DC-23B) - infrequent switching of motor loads or other highly inductive loads.
Pollution degreeEN 60947-1; 2.5.58; 6.1.3.2
Pollution degree relates to the conditions of the surrounding environment for which the device is intended.
Pollution degree:1 - No contamination will occur, or only dry, non-conducting contamination.
2 - Normally occurs only non-conducting contamination, but sometimes there may occur temporary
conductibility due to condensation.
3 - There occurs conductive contamination or dry non-conducting contamination that with the eff ect
of condensation will become conductive.
4 - Contamination generates continuous conductibility, by means of, for example, conductive dust, rain or snow.
