Graduate Certificate of Finance and Actuarial Statistics

The Graduate Certificate of Finance and Actuarial Statistics provides a sequence of foundation courses in one of four areas: Actuarial Statistics, Actuarial Studies, Statistics or Finance. This program is built around a 24-unit (four-course) specialisation.

Students who achieve a GPA of 4.5 for the Graduate Certificate of Finance and Actuarial Statistics with an appropriate specialisation may transfer to one of the following Master programs: Master of Applied Finance, Master of Finance, Master of Actuarial Studies, Master of Actuarial Practice or Master of Statistics.

Admission requirements

> A Bachelor degree or international equivalent with a GPA of at least 4.5/7.0

> English language requirements: All applicants must meet the University’s English Language Admission Requirements for Students.

Graduate Certificate of Accounting

For students wanting an introduction to accounting without committing to a Master program, we offer the 24-unit Graduate Certificate of Accounting (usually completed in one semester of full-time study). This program also provides options for students who may need additional courses to achieve the education entry requirements of the Australian professional accounting bodies.

The Certificate program is also designed to articulate into the Master programs in accounting. Students who wish to continue their advanced studies and complete the Certificate program with a GPA of 4.5 will be able to transfer to the Master of Professional Accounting or Master of Accounting program.

> A Bachelor degree or international equivalent with a GPA of at least 4.5/7.0

> English language requirements: All applicants must meet the University’s English Language Admission Requirements for Students.

Graduate Certificate of Economics

The Graduate Certificate of Economics is designed to provide a foundation in economics for whose prior economics training is minimal or nonexistent. The Graduate Certificate will be attractive to those whose present or intended career calls for them to understand and appreciate economic discussion and analysis.

Those students wishing to progress to the Graduate Diploma of Economics or Master programs in economics must select Mathematical Techniques for Economic Analysis.

Admission requirements

> A Bachelor degree or international equivalent with a minimum GPA of 4.0/7.0.

> Or at least 10 years of work experience in an ANZSCO Skill Level 1 role.

> English language requirements: All applicants must meet the University’s English Language Admission Requirements for Students.

Graduate Certificate of Management

The Graduate Certificate of Management (GCM) will equip students with a solid foundation of knowledge, skills and application in the management disciplines within an evidence-based management (EBM) framework. The GCM is a standalone program and also serves as a pathway for those who do not meet the traditional entry requirements for an ANU Masters program.

Admission requirements

> A Bachelor degree or international equivalent with a minimum GPA of 4.0/7.0

> Or at least 5 years of work experience, including at least 3 years documented experience in a managerial role.

> Or at least 10 years of work experience in an ANZSCO Skill Level 1 role.

Applicants applying for admission on the basis of work experience, which is at least five years full time work experience, including at least 3 years managerial experience, should provide a completed CV template and two referee reports/letters as one PDF and upload it with your application. In 2019, the annual indicative fee for graduate certificates for domestic students is $17,280 and for international students $22,800.

Commonwealth Supported PlacesA Commonwealth supported place can save more than 50 per cent on the cost of full-fee graduate study. With a Commonwealth supported place, you pay the equivalent of undergraduate fees for your graduate coursework.

There are limited Commonwealth supported places and selection is highly competitive.

Eligible studentsCBE postgraduate students who are citizens of Australia and New Zealand, or Australian Permanent Residents.

Eligible programsIn 2018, the following CBE graduate certificate programs were eligible for CSP consideration:

> Graduate Certificate of Economics

> Graduate Certificate of Finance and Actuarial Statistics

> Graduate Certificate of Management

How to applyApplications are generally invited twice per year with closing dates in June/July and December/January. Further details on how to apply will be provided when applications are invited.

The selection of students for Commonwealth supported places will be based on academic merit (e.g. past academic performance, level of qualifications: PhD, H1, Masters). In addition the following factors will be taken into account:

> For students in the above priority programs, being of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent;

> Having exceptional career progression in the public sector or in their career for students in the Graduate Certificate of Management or the MBA.

ANU College of Business and Economics Postgraduate Merit Scholarships

The ANU College of Business and Economics may offer up to 30 ANU College of Business and Economics Postgraduate Merit Scholarships per year, with the aim to attract high-calibre students into postgraduate programs offered by the College.

Benefits

The scholarship provides a discount of 50% of the domestic student tuition fee for the duration of a postgraduate coursework program offered by the College.

Eligibility

The award is available each year to a prospective student who:

> Is a domestic student;

> Has been offered admission into a postgraduate coursework program in the ANU College of Business and Economics; and

> Is applying to study postgraduate coursework with the ANU College of Business and Economics for the first time.

ANU College of Business and Economics International Graduate Scholarship

Each year the ANU College of Business and Economics may award the ANU College of Business and Economics International Graduate Scholarship.

The objective of the award is to support diversity and to strengthen educational outcomes for students.

Benefits

The scholarship provides a discount of 50% of the international tuition fee for the duration of a postgraduate coursework program offered by the College.

Eligibility

The award is available each year to a prospective student who:

> Is an international student;

> Has made an application for admission to a postgraduate coursework program at the ANU College of Business and Economics; and

> Has achieved at an excellent level in their final years of schooling as determined by the CBE academic panel.
