ANTIQUES SHOW 2002

The Club, in conjunction with Ameriwest Shows, sponsored the annual Antiques Show and Sale at the Convention Center on 23-25 August 2002. Lion Bill Allen headed up the planning of the show and coordinating with the vendors. Lion Kitty Jelsovsky planned and directed the food concession. Lions sold tickets throughout Ruidoso weeks before the show and at the door. Lions also participated in running the food concession where hot dogs, chili dogs, sausages, green chile stew, chicken salad, nachos, home-made desserts, popcorn, and an assortment of drinks were served. A group of Lions, under the direction of Lion Master Chef Bill Allen, provided a cowboy-style breakfast on Sunday morning for the Ameriwest folks and the venders which turned out to be a fabulous experience, especially for the "city slickers". The Ameriwest folks provided a picnic dinner for the vendors and the Club members on Saturday evening. Both events occurred at the Cedar Creek Campground. The Club netted over $5000 from the show and the proceeds from the quilt raffle. The quilt, which was first prize, was purchased by the Club. Second prize was a beautiful afghan that was donated by Lion Bob Bohannon's wife, Margaret. Third prize was a candle mantle piece donated by T-Cross and fourth prize was a dinner for two donated by El Camino Nuevo Restaurant. The gentleman who won the quilt had made a $100 donation to the Club during the Bridge Tournament the week before.
