    ANTIPOLO HISTORY

    The City of Antipolo lies approximately 29.30 km. east ofManila and is bounded on the North by the ton of Montalban, onthe north !est by the to!ns of Marikina and "an Mateo, on theeast by the #ro$in%e of &ue'on, on the southeast by the to!ns ofTanay and Teresa and on the south!est by the to!ns of Taytayan Cainta. (t is about )0 km. north to south and about 20 km.from east to !est.

    The City !as named after a tree lo%ally kno!n as Tipolo*Auto%arpus (n%isa+, !hi%h !as in abundan%e in the area at thattime.

    o$ernment and it !as made the %apital of Moron . 4ut !henthe %ountry !as o%%upied by the Ameri%ans on 5une >, )/99 there$olutionary o$ernment !as transferred to the to!n of Tanay.

    After the %i$il o$ernment !as restored in )90) by theAmeri%ans, ;alentin "umulon be%ame the first #residente*Alkalde+ of the to!n. The pro$in%e of Moron !as renamed

    i'al #ro$in%e and some of the to!ns near Manila !ere made part of the pro$in%e.
