The Scientific Benefits of Antioxidant Therapy in Healthy Aging and Anti-Aging
Dr. Robelyn GarciaSeptember 23, 2012
The numerous health benefits of antioxidants are unlimited. If you want more
energy or you are trying to lose weight, antioxidant therapy could be the answer. The
power of antioxidant therapy is also second to none for combating the many signs of
aging. “The amount of antioxidants in your body is directly proportional to how long you
will live," says international gerontology expert Dr. Richard Cutler. While Dr. Cutler was
the director of the National Institute of Aging, he led a team of molecular gerontologists
in groundbreaking antioxidant research for controlling the aging rate and anti-aging
medicine. Antioxidants are your body’s defense against aging, sickness and disease.
Experts are recognizing the emerging potentials for antioxidant therapy as a new
approach to the treatment of disease and the promotion of anti-aging (Ostojic, 2011).
Dr. Norman Hollenberg of Harvard Medical School says antioxidants “could potentially
get rid of 4 of the 5 most common diseases in the western world”, (Society of Chemical
Industry, 2007).
Antioxidants come from natural foods including fruits, vegetables, nuts, oils, and
beans. Antioxidant therapy involves a daily intake of antioxidants that protect the body
from harmful effects of free radicals. Free radicals come from cigarettes, pesticides,
insecticides, medications, food additives, stress, sun overexposure, and other types of
pollutions. Free radicals destroy human cells and damage DNA. The damaged cells are
one major culprit in premature aging, sicknesses and many disabling diseases. “Scientists
now believe that free radicals are causal factors in nearly every known disease”, says Dr.
Packer, coauthor of The Antioxidant Miracle (2001). Thousands of research studies have
concluded that antioxidants can help prevent a multitude of diseases, energize life, and
slow aging (Packer, 2001; Ostojic, 2011).

The USDA measures antioxidants of each food item by its ability to neutralize
free radicals (Tufts University, 2003). The USDA recommended minimum daily
antioxidant intake is 3,000 ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) points. On the
average Americans get only 800 ORAC points each day (USDA, 2011). There is
overwhelming evidence that shows individuals do not get high enough levels of
antioxidants and nutrients from food alone (Yale University School of Medicine, 2011;
Society of Chemical Industry, 2007). This means we must supplement with a good
nutritional antioxidant product.
Vemma, also known as “The Worlds Most Powerful Liquid Antioxidant” (Men’s
Health, 2009) is one of the most notable products available. Vemma contains a fruit food
source with tremendous antioxidant properties know as the "superfruit". Mangosteen,
also dubbed the "Queen of all Fruits" is rich in phytonutrients and antioxidant properties,
and has the potential to lower our risk against human diseases (Men’s Journal, 2008).
“Mangosteen has been used for centuries by Asian health practitioners for its tremendous
nutritional benefits and delicious flavor”, (Vemma Science, 2012). When the antioxidant
power of the “super fruit” Mangosteen is combined with vitamins, plant-sourced
minerals, organic aloe vera and organic decaffeinated green tea, the result is the ultimate
nutritional foundation of Vemma. The physician formulated, preservative-free and
gluten-free formula of Vemma provides a powerful liquid formula that tastes great and
makes it easy to get the vitamins, minerals and antioxidants you need to improve your
immune system and create abundant energy. Vemma, “The Worlds Most Powerful
Liquid Antioxidant” formula can be found in Vemma, Bod•ē Weight Control Products,
Bod•ē 7 day Cleanse - Detox, Vemma Next for kids, Verve Energy Drink and Verve Zero
Sugar Free Energy Drink (www.SeniorHealth.Vemma.com , 2012).
