OIE Resolutions
(2015 & 2016)
OIE Resolution in 2015Specific recommendations were given at the OIE World Assembly of
Delegates in 2015 in the Resolution Nº 26 ‘Combating Antimicrobial
Resistance and Promoting the Prudent Use of Antimicrobial Agents in
Animals’.– 3. The OIE develop a procedure and standards for data quality for
collecting data annually from OIE Member Countries on the use of
antimicrobial agents in food-producing animals with the aim of
creating an OIE global database to be managed in parallel with the World
Animal Health Information System (WAHIS).
– 4. OIE Member Countries set up an official harmonised national
system, based on OIE standards, for the surveillance of antimicrobial
resistance and the collection of data on the use of antimicrobial agents in
food-producing animals, and actively participate in the development of the
OIE global database.

OIE Resolution in 2016
Resolution Nº 36 ‘Combating Antimicrobial Resistance through a
One Health Approach: Actions and OIE Strategy’:
– 5. OIE Member Countries fulfil their commitment
under the Global Action Plan on AMR to implement
policies on the use of antimicrobials in terrestrial and
aquatic animals, respecting OIE intergovernmental
standards and guidelines on the use of critically
important antimicrobial agents, and the phasing out of
the use of antibiotics for growth promotion in the
absence of risk analysis.
– 7. The OIE seek support to enable Member Countries
to implement the OIE Strategy and their national
action plans.

Reporting Options
The sect ions of t he OIE Templat e named ‘Report ing Opt ions’ 1 , 2 and 3,
collect t he act ual quant it ies of ant imicrobial agent s for use in animals.
o Reporting Option 1: dist inct ion of ant imicrobial agent s by t ype of use
o Reporting Option 2: dist inct ion of ant imicrobial agent s by t ype of use
and animal groups*
o Reporting Option 3: dist inct ion by t ype of use, groups of animals* and
rout es of administ rat ion
*For t he purposes of t he OIE dat abase, animal groups means: ‘t errest rial
food-producing animals’, ‘aquat ic food-producing animals’ or ‘Companion
animals’
