Home Learning (H.L.)* Check HOME LEARNING FOLDERS daily for * Home Learning * Important notices from Ms. Gonzalez or office * Graded Papers to be signed and returned * Study guides, etc * Home Learning is an extension of classroom instruction and reinforces what we are learning in class. * Completion of all H.L. assignments is recorded. Some days we will check the H.L. together as a class, and other days the assignments will be collected and looked over by me. * Failure to complete or return assignments will result in consequences and will affect grades. I am requesting for parents to check their childs H.L. and sign their Student Agendas daily indicating that you have seen their assignment (s) completed.

* PTA has provided each student with an agenda * Means for Daily Communication (required to bring it to school daily)* Helps to keep students organized* Builds responsibility and autonomy* I check and you check, so that they know that both sets of eyes are checking * Home Learning affects their grades

Student Agendas* The following grading system, as outlined by the Miami-Dade County Board of Public Education, will be used:

Daily Routine15 Student Responsibilities

* Students need to be aware of and fulfill their responsibilities in order for them to have a successful year. I expect my students to take pride in their work and do the following:

1. Be at school on time and ready to begin the day. 2. Have all supplies on a daily basis. 3. Copy Home Learning assignments into their student agenda daily. 4. Reading logs are to be filled out each night by students and signed each night by parents. 5. Keep up with Reading Plus and A.R. reading tests. 6. Keep notebooks, book bags, and desks organized and neat. 7. Be involved in all lessons. 8. Complete all Class Work and Home Learning assignments. 9. Deliver all notices to parents. 10. Return any notices requiring parent/guardian signatures the next school day. 11. When absent, bring a note from parents. 12. When absent, find out what was missed. 13. Be Good Messengers.

16How Parents/Guardians Can Help!!!1. Make sure your child attends school regularly. The more oftenyourchild is in a learning situation, the more likely he/she will do well in school. Themore effort a student puts into learning willhelp their overall academic success.2. Give your child encouragement. Praise him/her for the things theyve done well throughout the year.3. Model a positive attitude for your child. Your child will often adopt your attitude towards school and learning as their own. A positive outlook helps students do their best.4.Give your child awell-rounded diet. A healthy body leads to a healthy, active mind. The foods children eatcan be the difference between a great day of learningand a really hard day at school. 5. See that your child completes Home Learning assignments daily. Home Learning supports classroom instruction and can help your child increase his/her comprehension of the classroom work. 6. Make sure your child arrives on time for school. Students who are in a rush to make it to class on time have a harder time staying focused the rest of the day. 7. Ask the teacher(s) to suggest activities for you to do at home with your child. Such activities can help your child improve his/her understanding of school work. 8. Make sure your child is well rested on school days. Children who are tired are less likely to pay attention in class or to handle the demands of class work and tests. 9. Try not to be overly anxious about test scores. Too much emphasis on test scores can be upsetting to children. 10. Meet with your childs teacher(s) to discuss your childs progress. Parents and teachers should work together to benefit the child.
