WHY ANTHONY MANDLER?

I have chosen to study Anthony Mandler due to my interest in Hip hop and R&B music. I have enjoyed this genre of music since I was a kid, hence I am a part of a

street-dance/hip-hop dance school. I have found Anthony Mandler due to me researching into Rihannas recent

music videos, which I absolutely love.

WHY ANTHONT MANDLER?

I have found the colors of this video rather warm and breath taking. Making Rihanna look like she is in heaven, by letting

the clouds enter most of the shots as well as the sun entering the scenes through the light/see through curtains.

WHY ANTHONY MANDLER?

I have noticed that he used many close ups of the artist, and this

may be the demands of the record label. However, they work

very well due to the audience being able to feel the intimacy

and little space between the two characters.

WHY ANTHONY MANDLER?

Goowins theory tells us that the features of music videos is a relationship between lyrics and visuals.

In this case the music video of Rihanna – ‘California King bed’ includes the lyrics of ‘In this California king bed, we’re ten

thousand miles apart’ the visuals in this situation show us the male getting much further away from the artist.

It seems director Anthony Mandler is putting a signature style on his videos which is gritty with a

lot of tinted colour.

Anthony Mandler is a commercial and music video director, who has written and directed music videos for artists including..

.. His most notable and frequent collaborator is Rihanna. The two have worked on more than a dozen videos together throughout her career, starting with ‘’Unfaithful’’

in 2006 and most recent ‘’Only Girl”, ‘’California King Bed” and ‘’Man Down”.

Anthony Madler was raised in Hollywood with celebrity

classmates and industry people all around him. A USC Film

School Graduate whom then studied with the late great Michelangelo Antonioni,

Anthony knew early on what he wanted to do as he realized his

passion for film. His love of movies set his course to grow

into today’s most promising film directing talent.

Mandler is currently developing Allegra, a film project with Gregory David Roberts, the author of Shantaram. He is set to direct Die in a Gunfight for Media Rights Capital ith Zac Efron attached to star. Mandler is also signed on to direct for Summit Entertainment the vampire film Vlad, which is being produced by Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner at Plan B.

Beginning his career as a photographer, Mandler’s work has been featured on the

covers of major magazines such as Entertainment Weekly, Esquire, Men’s Health,

and ESPN.

The magazine, and his celebrity portraits include Ryan Phillippe, Eva Mendes, Lebron

James, Eminem, Colin Farrell, David Beckham, Heath Ledger, and Katie Holmes among

others.

Anthony is today's hottest video director in strong demand and receiving high critical praise for his unique style of story telling demonstrating his extensive and highly

talented famous photography background. He has received numerous film project offers

from studios waiting on the right project to direct.
