INTRODUCTION
For protection against antenna shifting and deflection due to
harsh weather, side strut is used to reinforce the antenna assembly.
Misalignment is the most common problem encountered as a
result of poor side strut installation.
The purpose of this document is to provide additional
information and guide for the correct installation and mounting of
side strut.

INSTALLATION OF SIDE STRUT
- Mount the end of the antenna side strut parallel as possible to the
antenna direction.
- The deviation angle should be 25o in any direction
- Consider the offset of the antenna in order to position the side
strut.

AFFECTS OF WRONG MOUNTING OF SIDE
STRUT
1) The antenna leaves away from the tower.
2) With wrong offset, mounting of side strut become impossible to
attain.
3) Twisting and tearing of tower membrane from high wind pressure.
4) Damage of the lightning arrestor increases on Antenna and ODU.
5) Antenna Installation / orientation is more difficult
6) Disconnection and lose of connectors from wind pressure and
vibration

EXAMPLE OF WRONG INSTALLATION WORKS
Antenna Mounting: Good
Side Strut Mounting: No Good
- Strut is mounted almost 90o

SOLUTIONS
Solution 1:
- Mount in same tower leg.
- Change offset (from Leftto right)
Solution 2:
- Mount in adjacent leg.
- Dont change offset

CONCLUSION
With proper installation of the side strut and correct offset, therisk of deforming, misaligning the antennas and traffic outages
will be eliminated.
Always mount the side strut in parallel to antenna direction for
maximum stability.
