ANSYS – LAB EXAM 2012 Semester : VII Duration: 120 min

Date : 01/12/2012 Max. Marks: 20

1) For the given truss shown in the figure below, consider E=210 GPa, A=0.25 m2,

=7800 kg/m3 and =0.27. P1 = P3 = 20Kn, P2=40KN. L = 0.5m

2) The figure shows a 2D section of a composite wall subject to a steady-state heat transfer condition. (All dimensions are in meters). There are six materials in this construction (A, B, C, D, E, and F). Assume unit depth (1 m.) for the model. kA = 2, kB = 8, kC = 20, kD = 15, kE = 35, and kF = 2 W/m-oC . On the left side: Heat enters the model at a rate of 600 W. On the right side (convection only): T2 = 50oC and h2 = 95 W/m2-oC

3) Perform 3D modal analysis on the given roofing sheet with E=40 GPa, =2800

kg/m3 and =0.27. The roof is subjected to simply supported condition, with left

and right side of the roof constrained. The length of the sheet is 300mm.
