    English Poems

    1. Chook, chook, chook, chook, chook

    Chook, chook, chook, chook, chook

    “Good morning, Mrs. Hen!

How many chickens have you got?”

    “Madam, I have got ten.

    Four of them are yellow;

    Four of them are brown

And two of them are speckled red,

    -The nicest in the town!”

    2. If all the raindrops… If all the raindrops Were lemon drops and gumdrops Oh, what a rain that would be! Standing outside, With my mouth open wide Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah If all the snowflakes Were candy bars and milkshakes Oh, what a snow that would be! Standing outside, With my mouth open wide Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah If all the sunbeams Were bubblegum and ice cream Oh, what a sun that would be! Standing outside, with my mouth open wide Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah

    3. Tiny Tim I had a little turtle, His name was Tiny Tim. I put him in the bathtub, To see if he could swim.

He drank up all the water, He ate up all the soap, Tiny Tim was choking With bubbles in his throat.

In came the doctor, In came the nurse, In came the lady With the alligator purse.

They pumped out all the water, They pumped out all the soap, They popped the airy bubbles, That floated from his throat.

Out went the doctor, Out went the nurse, Out went the lady, With the alligator purse.

    4. Sunshine

If I could hold sunshine I could lighten the dark

Warm up a cold sea Or brighten the park.

I would scare away dragons Melt pathways through snow

And when it was raining I would make a rainbow.

If I could hold sunshine What would I do?

I would grow a big sunflower And give it to you.

    5. Butterfly Cycle

Hatch, hatch little egg, I am very small. Teeny tiny caterpillar, I have learnt to crawl.

Crawl, caterpillar, crawl, Munching on a leaf. Crawling, munching, crawling, munching, Eat and eat and eat.

Form, form chrysalis, I'm a different shape; Hanging by a silken thread Until I escape.

Rest, rest, chrysalis While I change inside; Finally the time has come To be a butterfly.

Stretch, stretch, pretty wings, It's a special day; Soon they will be strong enough For me to fly away.

I am now a butterfly, Fluttering everywhere To find a place to lay my eggs So they too grow with care.

    6. The Leaves of the Trees The leaves of the trees turn orange and red Orange and red, orange and red The leaves of the trees turn orange and red All through the town. The leaves of the trees come tumbling down tumbling down, tumbling down The leaves of the trees come tumbling down All through the town. The leaves on the ground go swish, swish, swish Swish, swish, swish, swish, swish, swish, The leaves on the ground go swish, swish, swish All through the town.

    7. Little Brown Seeds Little brown seeds so small and round,

Are sleeping quietly under ground. Down come the raindrops

Sprinkle, sprinkle, sprinkle. Out comes the rainbow,

Twinkle, twinkle, twinkle. Little brown seeds way down below,

Up through the earth they grow, grow, grow. Little green leaves come one by one.

They hold up their heads and look at the sun.
