NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME - ANNUAL SPECIAL CAMP
(2017-2018)
(From 10/10/2017 to 16/10/2017)
National Service Scheme unit of Shri DharmasthalaManjunatheshwara Law College and
Centre for Post Graduate Studies and Research in Laworganised Annual Special Camp at
Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat Higher Primary School, Delantabetu, Shibrooru,
Mangalore from 10/10/2017 to 16/10/2017.
Day 1 – 10/10/2017
The day began with Pooja to Lord ManjunatheshwaraSwamy followed by bhajane by all NSS
Volunteers. Later it was continued with GuddaliPooje. After that NSS volunteers were taken
to the field for physical exercise and Ice breaking Session to energize the students. After
breakfast from morning 10 to noon 1’0 clock Village Survey was done and also created
awareness among the villagers about ensuing NSS Special Annual Camp in their village for a
period of One week.
INAUGRATION PROGRAMME
At arround 5.30 P.M

was held in the School
premises. It began with
lighting the lamp and
singing NSS song. Sri.

temple was the inaugrator.

SDMC, Government Higher
Primary School, Delantabetu
were the Chief guests.

Associate Professor, SDM
Law College. Programme
officers Ms. Suma Suresh
Kogilgeri, Mr. Santosh Kumar, NSS unit leader Chetan Anchan, Shweta S and Secretary
SadanandaAsranna were also present.
NSS volunteer Mr. Nithin was the master of ceremony, NSS unit leader Mr. Chetan Anchan
welcomed the gathering, Mr. Santosh Kumar, Librarian, Assistant NSS officerdelivered
introductory note, Ms. Suma Suresh kogilgeri, Assistant Professor and NSS programme
officer gave the details of the proposed activities of the camp and vote of thanks was
delivered by NSS volunteer Mr. Tejas.
Day 2 – 11/10/2017
The second day too began with prayer. Mr. Sudhakar Shetty hoisted the flag. About 50
volunteers divided themselves into sub groups likeChalukya, Kadamba, Wodeyar, Rajput and
Hoysala. Volunteers cleaned the school premises and removed the dust heaps around the
school. In the following session at 2.30 P.M Mr. Cheluvaraju, SHO, Suratkal Police Station
delivered talk on “Role of citizens in maintaining Law and Order”. Faculty members were
also present. After flag dehoisting at 6:00 P.M, cultural programme commenced at 7’0 clock.
Day 3 – 12/10/2017
The third day began with prarthana followed by flag hoisting at 6:30 morning. This day was
dedicated to the cleaning of Cow milk procuring centre situated in the community. At noon
Mrs. Vinatha, HOD Psychology Dept., St. Agnes College enlightened the students on topic
“life skills”. After flag de hoisting volunteers entertained the villagers with cultural
programmes from 7’0 clock to 8:30 P.M.
Day 4 – 13/10/2017
This day too began with Prarthana. It was followed by yoga session. Mr. Vigesh Shetty,
Custom officer, Mangalore hoisted the flag and addressed the volunteers. Today it was
planned to clean the nearby temple premises, were volunteers involved themselves to clean
the premises till 12 noon. In the noon at 2:30 P.M Mr. Balakrishna Shetty addressed the
volunteers on topic “Communication Skills”, faculty members were also present. After flag
de hoisting as usual cultural programmes were organised by volunteers.
Day 5 – 14/10/2017
The day began with prayer and followed by flag hoisting. Today volunteers decided to clean
the heap which included construction waste behind the school building. In the afternoon
session Mr. Harish Acharya P, Economic professor, Govind das college, Suratkal motivated
the volunteers with his words on topic “Contribution of NSS for youth”. The day ended with
cultural programmes in which volunteers created awareness on social issues like child
marriage, right to free education by presenting skit on the said issues.
Day 6 – 15/10/2017
The day began with prayer and followed by flag hoisting by Mr. DinakarKulal, Grama
Panchayat member. Today volunteers engaged themselves in cleaning the roads of the
village. After that Mr. Ashwin, Secretary, Student Executive council encouraged the
volunteers with his words on topic “responsibility of Student’s leader”. The session was
presided by the faculty members of our college. The day ended with cultural programme at
8.30 P.M. After dinner “ShibiraJyothi” was organised by volunteers.
Day 7 – 16/10/2017
The seventh day was the last closing day of the camp. After shramadhana the second session
was allotted to valedictory function. Sri Naresh Malligemadu, Associate Professor SDM Law
College presided over the function, Smt. KasturiDayanand, Secretary, Sooronjegrama
Panchayat was the Chief Guest., Sri. AnanthPadmanab Acharya delivered the valedictory
address and Smt. Kamala Shetty, Sri. Sudhakar Shetty, Sri. Bhuvanesh Acharya were the
guest. Ms. Suma Suresh Kogilgeri, Assistant Professor and NSS programme officer
addressed the gathering and explained about various service activities undertaken during the
period of stay in the village. Sri. Santosh Kumar, Librarian, Assistant NSS officer, addressed
the gathering and thanked the village authorities for their support. Sri. Rakshith B V,
Assistant Professor, SDM Law college was also present and addressed the gathering and
congratulated the volunteers for successful completion of the camp. The session concluded
by vote of thanks.
