President’s MessageFifty years of service to our community! It’s hard to believe, with the first full year completed after the facelift on SCC’s Faribault Campus, how this gem in our community could have been here this long.

You walk through the hallways and you see students fresh out of high school, adult learners improving their skills and current high school students bridging their time between both college and high school classes.

When I went to college and indentured myself to my first student loan, I wish I had seen the value of a two year college. SCC’s current tuition is $179.30 per credit versus the University of Minnesota’s at $470.77 per credit hour. When you look at the campus and you see the classrooms, the carpentry, nursing and advanced manufacturing labs, you see our community’s future in sustaining our workforce. The majors many students are pursuing at SCC’s Faribault Campus will offer high skill, high pay careers that will provide for them and their families.

On behalf of the SCC Faribault Campus Foundation Board of Directors, staff and students I want to thank all our volunteers and donors for their support. You helped the Foundation raise $187,000 during our Annual Fund Drive and supported 114 students with scholarships.

Summary of the YearInspired by the theme “Value Education: Local Scholarships, Local Opportunities” the Foundation’s 2014-15 annual fund drive team of 45 volunteers raised $187,000; the largest fund drive total in the Foundation’s 32 year history. Funds are dispersed in the fiscal year after they are raised so in 2015-16, the Foundation has committed $108,850 for student scholarships and program support.

The South Central College Faribault Campus Foundation was founded in 1983 as the Faribault Area Vocational Technical Trust Association to promote community post-secondary education in the Faribault area. The Foundation is a 501(c)(3), non-profit organization governed by a board of directors comprised of individuals from the area, including South Central College alumni.

Points of Pride • The Foundation committed nearly

$109,000 in scholarships and program support to Faribault campus students for 2015-16.

• Presidential Scholar Hamdi Abdi from Owatonna High School received free tuition for two years to pursue her Associate in Arts degree at SCC.

• In FY14 the South Central College Faribault Campus Foundation provided a $4.44 return on investment for every $1.00 of public funds invested by South Central College.

• MRG Tool & Die and its employees contributed over $6,100 during the third annual Corporate Alumni Campaign, totaling over $20,000 in three years.

• Three endowments were established to provide scholarships from the interest earned.

Endowed FundsEndowments are truly gifts that last forever. An endowment can be established to support scholarships or general initiatives of the college and provide annual support for the chosen initiative using interest earned. A minimum contribution of $10,000 is required to establish an endowment and this can be done over a three year period.
