Chapter Activities:
- Chapter Officer Election (Date: 2012/01/19)
The meeting for the selection of chapter officers was held on January 19,
2012. Meng-Jie Lin was elected President of the chapter. Jia-Wei Dai was
selected as Vice‐President.
- Symposium on Nanovision Technology (Date: 2012/10/19)
The SPIE Chapter at National Taipei University of Technology co ‐
organized “Symposium on Nanovision Technology” on October 19, 2012.
The symposium was held in the 6th Teaching Building in NTUT. Seven
professors of Shizuoka University in Japan and four experts with
industry experience in Taiwan were invited. They are famous for their
researches in the field of nanovision, display, and image. The schedule of
the symposium is listed below. They also have a meeting with our SPIE
student chapter. It’s Benefited.
Dr. Hidenori Mimura Dr. Masauuki Nakamoto
Dr. Yoichiro Nakanishi Dr. Mizeikis Vygantas
Dr. Toru Aoki Dr. Hiroya Ikeda
Dr. A. Ono
Dr. Teng-Ming Chen Dr. Guang-Mau Lu
Dr. Yin-Wen Lee Dr. Heng-Long Yang
They share the most updated results on their current research, both
experimentally and theoretically. The discussions and exchanges of
opinions and ideas make this conference a valuable place for researchers
who are getting to be interested in or would like to dedicate their efforts
in these research areas.
International Conference Hall
We are also pleased to invite Dr. Leehter Yao, President of National
Taipei University of Technology (NTUT), to give us a special lecture
during the opening of the symposium.

Title: New Era of Blue-phase Liquid Crystal Photonics
Dr. Shin-Tson Wu is a Pegasus professor at the College of Optics and
Photonics, University of Central Florida. Prior to joining UCF in 2001, he
was with at Hughes Research Laboratories for 18 years. He received his
Ph.D. in Physics from University of Southern California (Los Angeles)
and BS in physics from National Taiwan University.
Prof. Wu is a fellow of the IEEE, OSA, SID and SPIE, and a recipient of
SID Slottow-Owaki prize (2011), OSA Joseph Fraunhofer award/Robert
M. Burley prize (2010), SPIE G. G. Stokes award (2008), and SID Jan
Rajchman Prize (2008). From 2004 to 2008, he was the founding
Editor-In-Chief of the IEEE/OSA Journal of Display Technology. He has
published 7 books and over 420 journal papers, and obtained over 100 US
and international patents. His publication has accumulated over 14000
citations. In 2013, he was inducted to the National Academy of Inventors.
2012 SPIE Student Leadership Workshop & Optics and Photonics
Annual Meeting:
Chia-Feng Lin represented NTUT Student Chapter to participate in SPIE
StudentLeadership Workshop on July 31, 2010. He also attended
Optics+Photonics meeting held in San Diego. The SPIE society provides
an excellent opportunity for him to communicate with other student
members. He appreciates greatly for that.

2012 NTUT Student Chapter Exhibition (date: 2012/08/01-2012/08/5)
Chia-Feng Lin, Meng-Jie Lin, and Ching-Ho Tien presented their
researches during the oral and post section in Optics and Photonics
Conference on August 14, 2012. The titles of the articles: “Equivalent
admittance of semi-continuous silver films”, “Single dielectric columnar
thin film as a broadband polarization conversion device”, and “A
nanorods AlN layer prepared by sputtering at oblique-angle and
application as a buffer layer in a GaN-based light emitting diodes”.
