LEATHERSTOCKING COUNCIL

Thanks to our volunteers and financial donors, the Boy Scouts of America Leatherstocking Council proudly serves approximately 4,400 Scouts across Delaware, Hamilton, Herkimer, Lewis, Madison, Oneida, Otsego and Schoharie counties in Central New York.

We are well positioned and prepared to continue to shape the characters of our community’s youth through stellar programs. These time tested programs have proven to teach positive life lessons and skills to outstanding boys and girls who will grow to become tomorrow’s leaders.

Each and every day, with your support, our Scouts are accomplishing great deeds.

As we look to the future, while honoring our past, know that the Leatherstocking Council will continue to provide the best possible programs and service to our units, youth and volunteers!

Together, we are making a meaningful impact on the lives of our Scouts and we are grateful for your support!

The Leatherstocking Council is divided into four Scouting Districts: Powderhorn in the East,

Adirondack Foothills to the Northeast, Deerslayer in the South central part of our council and Foothills to

the South.

District Executives are a mobile resource dedicated to ensuring the growth and success of Scouting Units within their district’s territory. Each District Executive works through chartered organizations and community groups to organize and support

membership, finance, programs and unit service.

We also staff, maintain and operate Camp Kingsley in Ava, NY, near Rome for our Cub Scouts and the Henderson Scouting Reservation in Maryland, NY,

near Cooperstown for Boy Scouts.

Scouting works. Scouting changes lives, forever. Investing in Scouting provides once in a lifetime opportunities and life lessons for today’s youth that allow them to reach their full potential. There are stark differences between Scouts and non-Scouts in the areas of health, fitness, community service, etc.

The success of Scouting depends on those individuals, corporations and foundations that support it. By contributing your time, talent and/or treasure, you are giving the youth in our community the greatest gift you can give. Thank you!
