    Energy and environmental education stakeholders,

Thanks for reading The Gaia Project’s annual report for the period of January 1st

    , 2013 to March 31st

    ,

2014. We are a registered charity (BN 804157618 RR 0001) whose mission is to empower New

Brunswick youth in making informed decisions about energy and its impact on the environment. This

report reflects a 15-month period because our financial year was changed to April 1st

     to March 31st

    ,

leading to us file a 3-month financial year from January 1st

    , 2014 to March 31st

    , 2014. This report is

written to reflect our financials for the 15-month period described above and our impact from the

2013-2014 school year. I’ve chosen to report our activities per school year so that it’s easier to follow.

I’m really proud of the work our team accomplished last year that we’ve highlighted in the attached

pages, and even more excited about what we’ve been working on this year. In the 2014-2015 school

year, we took what learned from the last year and applied it in developing a more extensive evaluation

plan, measuring the impact and reach of our programs. Since founding in 2009, our small team has

reached 16,000 New Brunswick youth, representing approximately 16% of students within the NB

school system. We employ a small staff of passionate people from diverse backgrounds and expertise –

you can check out their bios at www.thegaiaproject.ca/staff . Our board of directors is a group of

people who bring a multitude of experience to the table, and I’m honoured to work with them. You’ll

find a letter from the chair of our board, George Dashner, immediately following this letter.

You can expect our report from the 2014-2015 school year in August 2015. Until then, I hope you

enjoy perusing this report and if you have any questions, comments or ideas, we would love to hearfrom you. If you’d like to connect with The Gaia Project over social media, I’ve listed our accounts

    below.

Message from Chair, on behalf of The Gaia Project’s Board of Directors

The Gaia Project has been delivering sustainability educational programs to New Brunswick schools for the pas

6 years. We started small with the tenacity of our founder Brian McCain but our vision has never been small.

These past years have been blur of activity; not only have we developed and delivered award-winning

programs, we have been working to build a great organization that serves as the foundation behind our work in

schools. To help guide us through the establishment of the organization and the future, The Gaia Project

convened the present Board of Directors in 2012. The Gaia Board presently consists of 6 volunteers from a

variety of backgrounds, experiences and opinions, all held together with a common passion for developing a

sustainable future. The biographies of our board can be found on our website a

    www.thegaiaproject.ca/about/board-of-directors/.

The ‘day-to-day’ management of the Gaia Project is the responsibility of our executive director, Vanessa

Paesani and her passionate team. Vanessa and the board have been working to develop a roadmap that wi

serve as a template to guide us in planning and monitoring our long-term impact. Our vision is to build an

organization with a culture of excellence where we practice our goals every day.

There is a lot of work to be accomplished by a small organization like Gaia and I’m happy to report that the

2013-2014 school year was a great one for our team. Nothing that we have accomplished or will accomplish

could have been done without the support of our financial partners and volunteers such as our Board o

Advisors. On behalf of the Board of Directors of The Gaia Project, we would again like to thank everyone tha

has believed and supported our mission. We could not have done this without your support.

Thank you for your continued support – we’re excited about the future! Please don’t hesitate to get in touch

with myself, Vanessa or any member of the board.
