ANNUAL REPORT FOR NSS 2018-19
TTAADC POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE
Khumulwng is a small town in the West Tripura district in the state
of Tripura , India. It is the headquarter of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District
Council (TTAADC). It is situated 25 km away from Agartala.
TTAADC Polytechnic Institute is the newest Diploma Level Technical
Institute under Department of Higher Education which is located in the district of West
Tripura. This polytechnic Institute is located beside C.R.P.F Camp, P.O.: Radhapur,
Khumulwng, TTAADC HQ. Complex. The Institute has got approval from AICTE for
academic session 2016-17 on April, 2016. It is approved for current session also. Three
core departments i.e. Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering
have been introduced from the academic session i.e 2016-17 and received approval with 60
intake capacities for each branch from the AICTE, New Delhi. The Institute is affiliated to
Tripura University (A Central University).

The Polytechnic Institute is committed to technical empowerment of the
local youths and the state as well. The Institute has also been enlisted to be a local hub to
run Technical Courses under Skill Development Programmes. Sri Tamojay Deb is Principal-
in-Charge of this Institute
The National Service Scheme (NSS) is an Indian government-
sponsored public service program conducted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of

the Government of India. Popularly known as NSS, the scheme was launched
in Gandhiji's Centenary year in 1969. Aimed at developing student's personality through
community service, NSS is a voluntary association of young people in Colleges, Universities
and at +2 level working for a campus-community.
TTAADC Polytechnic Institute held its first NSS unit at the end 2018. Dr.
Mousumi Gupta (Sengupta), PhD, Mathematics Department of TTAADC Polytechnic
Institute acts as NSS programme officer of this Institute.

Under this NSS unit the number of student volunteers is 60.They helped to carry
the unit very smoothly and regularly under the guidance of the NSS Programme Officer.
During the session 2018-2019 the Institute’s NSS budget was 24,150 rupees. For
regular activity budget was 12,150 rupees and for Special camp activity it was 12,000
rupees.
The student volunteers perform different regular activities like plantations,
cleanliness within and outside the Institute. Also they went to local places at khumulwng
like Dukmali bazar, Madhavbari to spread the awareness campaign regarding Swachta and
pollution free environment. Also the 21 numbers NSS volunteers went to the Saheed
Bhagat Singh Yuva Awas, Agartala to participate the “Three days Residential Training
Programme on Youth Employability, Skills, Leadership and Personality Development”
organised by Department of Youth Affairs &Sports in collaboration with Directorate of Skill
Development,Government of Tripura.

NSS SPECIAL CAMP
The Institute organized a seven (07) days special NSS camp, duration: 25th
March to 1st April. For this special camp activity the number of student volunteers is 30.

Report of the 1st day of NSS special camp 2018-2019, 25/03/2019 (Monday)
‘Inauguration Ceremony& Blood Donation Camp’ In association with Tripura
State Blood Transfusion Council. On the 1st day 25th March, 2019, there was held the inauguration ceremony
which starts with a beautiful song which was sang by the NSS student volunteers of the
Institute. Our chief guest was the state nodal officer Dr. C.R Bhowmik, Directorate of Youth
and Sports affairs, Agartala, Tripura. Our special guest was Principal of the Institute Sri
Tamojay Deb.
On that day a Blood donation camp was organized. A medical team from Tripura
State Blood Transfusion Council came to the Institute on that day. On the Blood donation
camp all college staffs, students including NSS volunteers participated.
On the inauguration day the chief guest Dr. C.R. Bhoumik, State Nodal Officer,
Tripura delivered a valuable speech about the NSS activity programme. Also the Principal of
the Institute, NSS Programme Officer of the Institute and Doctor from Tripura State Blood
Transfusion Council conveyed a massage to all students about the necessity of Blood
Donation Camp and also the activity of NSS work through their memorable speeches.
On the Blood donation camp, 22participants donate their precious blood.

Report of the 2nd day of NSS special camp 2018-2019,
‘Free Health Check-up’ for Students, Faculty & Staffs, in association with Sub-divisional Hospital, Jirania and Kharengbar Hospital, TTAADC, Khumulwng.
On its 2nd day the camp provided a free health check-up for all its participants
that could be students/ teaching stuff / nonteaching stuff/ canteen stuffs of the Institute
along with every required medicine. The Institute arranged and supplied all the medicine.
A medical team with a doctor and a pathologist from Kharengbar Hospital,
Khumulwngalso a medical team came with a doctor, a nurse and a pathologist from Jirania
District Hospital to the Institute on that day to serve a free health check up for all.
Approximately 200 numbers patients were benefited from this free health check up camp.
Every patient got prescribed medicine. The NSS student volunteers managed the entire
programme with disciplined way. Hence the day ended very fruitfully.

Report of the 3rd day of NSS special camp 2018-2019

On this day a team from Khumulwng Police Station along with SP and one woman
sub inspector presented an awareness programme on behalf of their social organisation
“Prayaas”.
Mr. K K Kaloi, SP of Radhapur PS, Khumulwngdelivered a fruitful awareness
speech on traffic rules, cleanliness around the environment. He encouraged the students to
participate on the various sports events. He discussed about various modern life killing
drugs and their bad effects to our healthy life. He also discussed how to maintain a healthy
lifestyle in spite of our busy ness.
After then the NSS volunteers went to Madhavbari , Jirania college Chowmuhni to
focus a cleanliness program. With this ended another important day of the camp.

Report of the 4th day of NSS special camp 2018-2019
‘Awareness Programmed’ in association with State Tobacco control Cell, Agartala
On this day a team along with one district medical officer from the office of the
CMO West Agartala conveyed a National Tobacco Control Programme. She delivered an
awareness speech on ‘Tobacco related event like ‘Smoking Cigarettes’, ‘Gutka’, khaini,
Supari, Jardaetc. They explained the harmful effect of all such tobacco items. These
discussions was a way to create a new and safe vision of the present youth, and try to help
today’s generation and stop them before taking any harmful step in future. They talk about
various lawsabout tobacco related issues. The programme was concluded by Sri Alak Deb
Roy, H.O.D of Science and Humanities of this Institute by his valuable speech.
Hence Moto of the day was “Never be an active smoker and never let others to be
a passive smoker”.

On the next day being inspired from previous day’s successful camp, the group
of the NSS volunteers decided to visit to hospitals and serve their services there. All the
volunteers visited the Sub-divisional Hospital, Jirania and Kheranbar hospital,
khumulwng. They distributed fresh fruits and tasty sweets among every patient admitted in
two hospitals.
The number of admitted patients who were benefitted:-
Jirania District Hospital :- 20 Person.
Kherangbar Hospital:- 30 Person.
It was also a small,little but full of joy program a part of the camp activity. Surely
all have enjoyed in giving service.

Report of the 6th day of NSS special camp 2018-2019
Talk show on “Women Empowerment with special emphasis on Security related issues in India”;
Invitee: Chairman .Tripura Women Commission,
Honorable Chairman. Tripura Women Commission, Smt Barnali Goswami,
delivered a Speech on “Women Empowerment with special emphasis on Security related
issues in India” in which she expressed that women’s should come forward to the society
for the betterment of the nation. She advised all the students to educate themselves
properly to build the nation.
Our Principal-in-Charge express his views on that day, he told that women’s
empowerment is necessary in today’s world if you want to build a strong nation. He has
been taken some references from ancient Indian culture where women’s are on the top of
the society, even in our freedom fighting movement women’s have freely participate for the
freedom of our country. Some of the religion who has orthodox thoughts regarding the
women’s freedom must have to change their ideology.
Tithi Debnath. NSS Volunteer of our Institute has said that women’s should come
forward and participatein all the works as well as the boys do.

The NSS Program Officer conveyed her feelings about the women
empowerment, She expressed that Women’s and girls’ should give priority to their career
and secure future, especially the teen age girls must aware about the frauds and miss
concepts surroundings, they must have use wisely the social networking sites. They must
educate themselves as a perfect human being.

The 7th Day; Closing Ceremony
1) Motivational programme by Art of Living Foundation, Agartala. 2) Closing Ceremony.
Motivational Programme:-
In the final day we invite “Art of Living Foundation”, Agartala to grace our
function. The Art of Living Foundation is a volunteer-based, humanitarian and
educational non-governmental organization (NGO). It was founded in 1981 by Ravi
Shankar. The Art of Living Foundation has centers in more than 156 countries. Art of
Living offers several stress-elimination and self-development programs based on breathing
techniques, meditation and yoga.
Its stress-elimination and self-development programs are based on the breathing
technique ‘Sudarshan Kriya’, meditation and yoga. This technique is a major part of
‘Art of Living’ courses, which are conducted by instructors, most of whom do voluntary
work. These courses have also been conducted for students and faculty, government
officials, firemen, ex-militants, and prisoners.
Its areas of work cover conflict resolution, disaster and trauma relief, poverty
alleviation, empowerment of women, prisoner rehabilitation, education for all, and
campaigns against female feticides, child labor and for environmental sustainability.
In 2007, the foundation initiated the 'Project Vidarbha - 'Swavalamban
programme', with the aim of instructing and supporting farmers in severely drought hit
regions to improve their living conditions. Over 1000 volunteers provided training in
organic and zero-budget farming, rainwater harvesting, hygiene, and the construction of
toilets in addition to the Art of Living course. The foundation received Rs 1.4 million
funding from the state Government against its total expenditure of nearly Rs 7.5 million,
some of which was self-financed, most of which was raised from corporate donors. A similar
initiative was started to educate farmers in Andhra Pradesh to implement 'zero budget
farming' to end suicides to due to financial stress.

They teach us how to perform meditation and yoga. They teach us several good
things like “A yoga-based technique that targets healing and stress is gaining favor". "not
only aims to remove day-to-day stresses, but also target negative emotions you may not
know are still affecting you".
Closing Ceremony:-
In closing ceremony volunteers perform Singing and dance, Our Principal gives
his closing speech, with this our 7day NSS Special camp is finished with refreshment.
