Gregg Middlekauff Board President
Boys & Girls Clubs of Magic Valley makes a pledge every day to every young person who walks through our doors. This pledge begins with our mission: to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. Our pledge is a commitment to our community and the reason we work tirelessly to ensure success is within reach of every young person we serve.
As we strive to continue this pledge, we celebrate the partnerships that bring it to reality. GREAT FUTURES START HERE because we have supporters who make them possible. You’ve opened the doors to your businesses to teach our young people what it takes to succeed in today’s workforce, to help them explore in the working world, and to help them plan for their futures. You’ve shared your values through the experiences you’ve made possible, the projects you’ve led, and time you’ve spent with our members. This has made a huge difference in the lives of our kids. The details of that difference are defined in this annual report. I invite you to read closely and savor the success your gifts bring to our members.
Reflecting on this pledge, the impact we see on our youth stands out as our GREATEST achievement. Our Club kids are regularly demonstrating positive outcomes in our targeted program areas of academic success, good character & citizenship, and healthy lifestyles by staying actively engaged in educational enrichment activities, community service projects, cooking classes, fitness challenges, and a host of other exciting activities offered in our Clubs.
We couldn’t have accomplished any of this without you! With the excitement and achievements of this past year, we are looking forward to an even more successful future. In 2017, we will embark on a capital campaign to expand our Twin Falls Club. Our community is growing; which has led to a waiting list for kids who need us most for over a year. The 8,000 square foot expansion will include a state of the art teen center and an early child development center. When the project is complete, we will be capable of serving 200 more kids. We are also currently working with groups in Jerome and Rupert to further expand our services. Stay tuned for more information on those projects.
We are proud to continue our pledge to Magic Valley kids. Your generosity to the community and our kids is life changing. Thank you for your support and for your ongoing commitment to our young people.
Cassidy attributes much of her success to the Club and how its impact has
shaped her into a leader. A 10 year member, the Boys & Girls Club serves as a
place where Cassidy can forget about all the negativity in her life and just be a
teenager and build relationships. Because of her passion for the Club, Cassidy
was named the Idaho State Youth of the Year for 2017.
“I first walked through these doors more than 10 years ago, and I love this organization now more than ever. My journey here has been priceless, and it isn’t over yet.”
Coming from a broken home, Cassidy first started
attending the Club when she was 8 years old.
Over the past 10 years, she has continued her
membership at the Club and has even become a
staff member. The Club has become her home,
and the staff and kids have become her family.
As well as attending the Club, Cassidy has
accumulated many hours of community service
whether it be volunteering at her church, cooking
meals for the Club’s Teen Program, or helping at
fundraisers and various events.
Cassidy plans to attend Northwest Nazarene
University this Fall where she will major in
Communications & Public Relations with a minor
in Business Marketing.
A special thank you to the Uhlig Foundation for their
generous support of our Youth of the Year Program!
Thanks to the Uhlig Foundation and our generous
donors, the Club has awarded a total of $26,807 in
college scholarship money since 2010.

literacy, sensory, science, art, math, drama, and gross motor skills.

“We are blessed that there is a safe
place for our children to go after
school and helped to be trained to
be better people.”
—Lee Humbach, Parent of a 7 year
old and 9 year old.
The Club takes pride in the opportunities we offer our teens! We realize
our members have individual needs based on their age. During the school
year, the most dangerous time for youth is between 3 and 6pm, Monday
through Friday. These are the hours when they are most likely to be a
victim or operator of a crime. It is the time when they could be
experimenting with drugs or engaging in risky behavior. The reason is
simple: many parents work and a lot of teens have no structured place to
go during non-school hours. We provide a variety of opportunities,
responsibilities, and education for our members ages 13-18. Some of the
FREE activities our teens get to participate in during the school year as well
as summer include:
Life Skills
Weekly Teen Nights
Free Meals
College Readiness
Campus Visits
Leadership Training
Healthy Lifestyles
Financial Literacy
Career Exploration

Cooking Matters

In December 2013 the Club was gifted land from American Real Estate & Appraisal (Doug & DeAnna Vollmer and Jack & Shirley Staubhar). Through the help of Gerald Martens and EHM Engineers, the land was developed into six residential lots. Six builders in the Magic Valley; James Ray, Jeremy Petersen, Jim Boyd, Gary Wolverton, Lance LeBaron, and TKO, agreed to construct homes on each of the lots and donate the proceeds of their homes to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Magic Valley. This summer, the homes were completed and each one sold. This project, which was a bigger success than we could have ever imagined, raised $246,000 for the Club’s Endowment Fund, ensuring the Club’s long-term financial stability for future generations to come. Other major contributors to this project were: Berkshire Hathaway, Wooten Excavation, KMVT, Lytle Signs, City of Twin Falls, First Federal, TitleFact, and Stratus Communications.
Thank you to the following in-kind donors for your work on this project as well: Coiner & Wooten LLC, Ferguson Enterprises, Idaho Materials & Construction, JS Custom Crete, Mike Ajeti, Triple C Concrete, Chris Brann Drywall, DR Concerete, Fairbanks Painting, Franklin Building Supply, Rocky Mountain Flooring, Rustic Ridge Landscape & Irrigation, Wolftone Construction, BMC, Brennan’s Carpet, Code Electric, Gale Insulation, M&K Painting, Pacific Supply, Rock Creek Plumbing, Sherwin Williams, Beams Flooring, Owens Design, Thane Jensen, Triple M Elec-tric, Viking Walls, CG Electric LLC, Croy’s Heating & Cooling, Double M Construction, Gentry Floors, Nu Vu Glass, Scott Pugmire Framing, TCA Roofing, Wilson Bates, Elite Restoration, Goodheart Painting, Black Pine Custom Cabinets, Rock Creek Plumbing, Superior Doors, Dwaine Loosli Excavation, Glen Wise Plumbing, Quality Truss & Lumber, Robertson’s Supply Plumbing, Rocky Mountain Supply, Ryan Steel Drafting, Scott Pugmire Framing, Infinity Concrete.

THANK YOU TO OUR GENEROUS
DONORS FOR THE 2016 FISCAL YEAR.
We sincerely apologize for any unintentional
omissions or errors.
SUPPORTER OF THE YEAR….
FIRST FEDERAL SAVINGS BANK
Each year we are lucky enough to be able to recognize a donor for their ongoing commitment to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Magic Valley. Since 2007, First Federal has donated over $90,000 to the Club. They have proven to be an asset to the community and continue to help those who need them most. We were honored to present this bronze to Alan Horner and First Federal for their years of support. Our community is so lucky to have you!
“First Federal is proud to support the Boys and Girls Clubs of Magic Valley. The commitment the Club provides to the children of our valley is extraordinary. Our children are having a fun time as they participate in learning to study more effectively, to confidently speak to individuals and groups, and to appreciate mu-sic, theater and science. This learn-ing and fun will meaningfully sup-port them throughout their lives. First Federal appreciates Lindsey and her staff for creating a place where great futures begin.”
—Jay Dodds, CFO First Federal
