PRINCIPAL’S ADDRESS

On the onset, I congratulate the teaching and nonteaching faculty of the CMS College for securing ‘A’grade in NAAC re-accreditation. We consider it a trueprivilege and blessing to be one among the earliestcolleges in India to function unimpaired from itscommencement. Starting from 1817 the College haswitnessed many epoch making events which have changedthe course of history and the condition of society inKerala and India.

In the first century of its existence the Collegebrought liberal thought and English education within thereach of the common man and the marginalised. In theearly years of the second century the College threw openits portals to women, giving them an access to highereducation. By the second half of the twentieth century, the College was upgraded with Bachelors and MastersProgrammes in several disciplines. This year the collegehas attained ‘A’ grade for the NAAC Re-accreditation andsecured the special heritage status, along with its otheracademic and cultural achievements.

Our illustrious alumni who have kept the beacon ofCMS College shining brightly in whatever fields theyhave worked- as the President of the nation, or as Justiceof the Supreme Court, or as a prodigy in theoreticalphysics worthy to be considered for the Nobel Prize oras litterateurs, artists, theatre personalities, dramatists, educationists, doctors, lawyers, diplomats, politicians anda host of others. Indeed we who are the present of CMSCollege are inheritors of great renown. Let us keep thetorch lit by the first missionary founders burning brightly,by treading their path of selfless service pursuing thegoal of moulding young minds into worthwhile citizensable to contribute their mite for the welfare of the world.

Remembering this heritage on which we have basedour fundamentals, I take this opportunity to congratulateand express my gratitude to each and every personinvolved in the advancement of the college in all itsfacets.
