Their efforts ha#e generated a year filled withahie#ements for the City of Melbourne and more benefits and opportunities for the people who li#e$wor% and #isit here.

    Community engagement is #ital to our ore business and we embed it in e#erything we do as anorganisation. We introdued our Community =ngagement ?ramewor% in 200 and sine then ha#ebeome a leader in finding new ways to engage with our ommunity to better understand theiraspirations$ needs and opinions. =#ery ma(or pro(et we do in#ol#es ommunity onsultation at somele#el. We ontinue to train staff from aross all fi#e di#isions to de#elop and implement their ownommunity engagement strategies. We also are getting better at engaging online and in !unelaunhed our new +artiipate Melbourne website.

    7ustainability ontinued to be foremost on our agenda as we wor%ed towards strengthening our itysresiliene to limate hange. 'n Marh$ we were ertified arbon neutral for ounil operations$ asignifiant step towards our aspirational goal of ahie#ing Jero net emissions for the ity by 2020. Weentered into an =n#ironmental Kpgrade 6greement to retrofit one of our ity offie blo% andestablished the =&eptional Tree egister to protet the itys signifiant trees. 'mplementation of ourKrban ?orest and "pen 7pae 7trategies are now well underway$ along with a number of stormwaterhar#esting pro(ets. These signifiant ahie#ements are by no means the end of our eo (ourney andwe ontinue to wor% on pro(ets aross the muniipality to preser#e our future.

    ?ousing on how we manage our own resoures has enabled us to remain a finanially responsibleorganisation. "ur ,ean (ourney$ whih began in 200$ has ontinued to return a steady stream ofimpro#ement to the City of Melbourne. More than 400 staff ompleted the ,ean =ssentials and ,eanasis wor%shops$ and a further >3 graduated from the intensi#e ,ean ,earner and ,ean +ratitioner

The pro#ision of a safer en#ironment for the ommunity is a %ey aim of the program. 'n 2013Counil appro#ed itorian -o#ernment funding to install an additional nine ameras in ity loationsseleted by itoria +olie. This will ta%e the total number of ameras throughout the ity to /3. 6nindependent audit ommittee reports annual results of the program to the City of Melbourne and these

    are a#ailable to the publi.

    The City of Melbourne manages four Safe City a9i 4an!sat ?linders 7treet 7tation$ Eing 7treet$Fueen 7treet and our%e 7treet. 6n a#erage B/> passengers used the Fueen 7treet ta&i ran% eah?riday and 7aturday night in 201213. This represents 100 more passengers per night than the?linders 7treet 7tation ran% o#er the same period and onfirms the Fueen 7treet ran% as the mostpopular ta&i ran% in the entral ity.

Wor%s inluded the installation of a neweiling as well as interior and e&terior painting of the struture$ new ,=< lighting$ an epo&y floor finishand the upgrade of se#en par% benhes to enable a seated audiene for 25 people.
