Alumni Meet was held on 18th Dec 2010 wherein 80 alumni from India and 4 from abroad

attended the function.

National Level Conference

Pune University sponsored National Seminar was held from 4th -6th Jan 2011 on

“Pharmaceutical Technologies: Current Perspectives” The conference was inaugurated by

Dr. Saurav Pal, Director NCL as the chief guest and guest of honour Dr. R.S Paranjpe,

Director, NARI. The inauguration was also presided by Hon. Secretary Capt. Shivaji

Mahadkar and Academic Adviser Dr. Dharmadhi Pune University sponsored one day

conference was held on 13th Jan 2011 on “Biological Screening techniques and drug


discovery”. The conference was inaugurated by Dr. Shirish Kulkarni, Dr Sofiya from Lupin as

the chief guest and guest of honour Dr. K.R. Mahadik Principal Poona College of Pharmacy.

The inauguration was also presided by Hon. Secretary Capt. Shivaji Mahadkar and

Academic Adviser Dr. Dharmadhikari. The total number of participants for this seminar was

sixty five.

State Level Conference

Pune University sponsored State Level Conference was held on 11th and 12th Jan 2011 on

“Current Trends in Preclinical Pharmacology” The conference was inaugurated by Sofiya

Mumtaz ex director Lupin Research Park Pune, Dr. Shirish Kulkarni VP NDDS Lupin, as the

chief guest and guest of honour and guest of honour Dr. K.R. Mahadik Principal Poona

College of Pharmacy. The inauguration was also presided by Hon. Secretary Capt. Shivaji

Mahadkar and Academic Adviser Dr. Dharmadhikari. The total number of participants for this

seminar was fifty two.

Local Level Conference

Pune University sponsored one day conference was held on 13th Jan 2011 on “Biological

Screening techniques and drug discovery”. The conference was inaugurated by Dr. Shirish

Kulkarni VP NDDS Lupin, Dr Sofiya Associate VP from Lupin as the chief guest and guest of

Placement Cell Report:

The responsibilities of Placement Cell comprise the following:

1. Placement of T.Y.B Pharm students for In plant training

2. Arranging industrial visit

3. Arranging campus interview

I] As per the University of Pune curriculum, B Pharm students are required to undergo in

plant training in a pharmaceutical manufacturing unit for the duration of one month either in

Third or Final Y B Pharm. Out of 71 students of the above batch, 51 students have

completed their training in Nov.2010 & 20 students will be training in June. 2011 in industries

throughout Maharashtra and Gujarat application process for the same is facilitated by the

placement cell. The students are issued a certificate by the company on completion of the

training and are required to submit a copy of the certificate and training report to Mrs. M. R.

P Rao, Placement in charge.

II] Industrial visits are mandatory to bridge the gap between industry and academics. A visit

was organized for Final Year B Pharm and S.Y B. Pharm students to the following industries

in Pune .The students were accompanied by Prof. Mrs MRP Rao .The students were taken

to the various departments and facilities of the units and were explained the functioning in

comprehensive detail.

III] The process of sending letters to various companies, inviting them to conduct campus

interviews for our students began in January 2011.Letters giving details of the infrastructure

in our college and academic performance of our students were dispatched to 35

pharmaceutical companies located in major industrial areas in India. These companies

included various medium rung Indian companies as well as high rung multinationals. The

following companies visited our campus for conducting interviews.

Initiatives taken for improving academic performance of the student

1. Attendance of 75% is made compulsory for each and every student failing to which a

defaulters list is displayed before the sessional exams.

2. Interaction of the staff members with the parents of the students in case of poor

academic performance.

3. At least three class tests are taken by each subject teacher and extra lectures are

taken in case there is any difficulty is faced by a student in a particular subject.

4. Each examination is followed by a counseling session of the students who have faired

poorly.

Library

The College library is well equipped with over 4991 Books and 50 journals, costing about

Rs.63, 47,663/- (books)

Management has been continuously supporting and encouraging one and all activities
