JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT OFFICER HELP NEEDED FOR OUR BUDDING
CHAMPIONS
MUDTA “Good Sports
Accredited Club”
Vicki Sydenham has indicated that she will not
be seeking re-election as Junior Development
Officer at the Annual General Meeting in Sep-
tember. The Committee is therefore seeking
expressions of interest from any person who
may be interested in taking on the position.
The MUDTA Constitution lists the duties of the
JDO as: “To organise tennis activities and
events for Junior members and if a sub-
committee for Junior Members is ap-
pointed to ensure that the sub-
committee conducts its affairs for the
benefit of Junior Members in accordance
with Rules and By-Laws of the Association
prescribed at the time.”
This definition may seem a little daunting but
there is no reason why the position could not
be a shared one. Perhaps have one person look-
ing after the interests of the more advanced
children with regard to competing in tourna-
ments conducted both within and out of our
area, and another person or two who could
concentrate on club activities including fun
events, parent child days, social activities, etc.
Vicki has indicated that she would be happy to
work along side and train anyone who wishes to
help with the position.
The more parents who are willing to help will
make the job a lot easier.
To register your interest please contact:
Club Secretary Bev Magee 4455 5280 or
Vicki Sydenham 4454 0950
Our annual seniors tournament is shaping up
to be as successful as it has been for the past
fourteen years.
Three weeks after the entry forms were sent
out, 170 individual entries have been received
and at this stage all the men’s and ladies dou-
bles are filled to capacity.
There are still some spaces left in the singles
and mixed doubles events so if any locals
would like to enter please give Val Crook a
call on 4454 4160 to obtain an entry form.
The Sunday afternoon events, in age groups
35-45, 50, 55, 60, 65 and over, are particular-
ly available as many of the visiting players
return home.
HELP NEEDED
If you could assist in operating the canteen
over these 3 days it would be much appreci-
ated. As there will be a BBQ on the Saturday
evening for about 80 players, help will also be
needed to set up and clean up on the night.
Again an hour or two that you could contrib-
ute would be gratefully appreciated.
Donations of cakes and slices for the canteen
can be dropped off at the club anytime during
the weekend.
Contact Sharyn Sheehy on 4455 3817 to
register a time you could be available.

Congratulations to all who contested the club championships. It was disappointing that events could not be conducted in the Under 10 and Under 16 age groups due to
lack of entries, also the Under 12 Boys/Girls doubles.
Club championships give the players an opportunity to contest events under tourna-
ment conditions instead of the Saturday competition format and to pit their skills against players of their own age. It also gives competition selectors the opportunity
to evaluate a players ability on their own merits.
Parents are requested to encourage their children to contest these events each year.
Your Junior Committee puts in a lot of effort to give valuable guidance to your chil-dren, and your co-operation is appreciated.
The Committee is indebted to those parents who help out every Saturday morning , both on court and in the canteen, without your assistance competition would not happen and your children would be deprived of the experience.
