Annual Meeting — ISEV2016 | Rotterdam, The Netherlands | 4–7 May 2016 7
Welcome!
Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the International Organizing Committee it is with great pleasure that we invite you to be part of the 5th Annual Meeting of the International Society for Extracellular Vesicles in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, from May 4th to the 7th 2016. It is our honor to organize this meeting where scientists from around the globe share the latest information on extracellular vesicles.
The International Society for Extracellular Vesicles (ISEV) was funded in 2011 as the authoritative international community for extracellular vesicle (EV) research. It focuses on all aspects of extracellular vesicle investigations. Over the past few years, ISEV meetings have received an increasing number of abstracts due to the outstanding quality of these events.
The scientific program of ISEV2016 includes a broad range of educational and scientific sessions covering the entire spectrum of topics relevant to extracellular vesicle research. For the first time, we have expanded our Pre-Meeting Education day program to parallel sessions on two different topics (“New developments of EV isolation and analysis” and “EV therapeutics”).
ISEV is proud to announce prominent plenary speakers highlighting important aspects of EVs and cancer (Klaus Pantel and David C Lyden), EVs and viruses (Leonid Margolis and Robert C Gallo) and EVs in cell biology (Francisco Sanchez Madrid). Parallel symposium sessions, posters and short oral poster presentations will provide platforms to present the newest developments in the field. Between oral and poster presentations, there will be sufficient time for networking and exhibition visits. In keeping with ISEV tradition, we will have “Meet the experts” sessions to get overviews and discussions on hot topics. The novel interactive ”Experts meet” session on three important body fluids (blood, urine and breast milk) will enable community members to discuss body fluid-specific questions of extracellular vesicle isolation and detection. ISEV2016 will also have an attractive Networking event in St. Lauren Church.
By providing an insight into the most recent unpublished data of extracellular vesicle research, ISEV meetings create unique competitive advantage for both academic and commercial partner attendees. In the De Doelen Conference Center of Rotterdam, during lunches and coffee breaks, there will be ample opportunities for scientific interactions.
ISEV annual meetings are not only characterized by an outstandingly high scientific interest by the attendees in the program but also by a very supportive, friendly atmosphere of the discussions. ISEV annual meetings offer an excellent opportunity for researchers to share their recent findings with the scientific community and also provide an unmatched learning opportunity for those who are new to the field.
These days the use electronic knowledge dissemination and communication offer a historically unique opportunity for rapid development of novel fields such as the one of extracellular vesicles. However, there is also an unprecedented responsibility of our community to control the scientific quality of extracellular vesicle-related data, and maintain high standards in extracellular vesicle research. By giving excellent learning opportunities and hosting constructive discussions of current challenges with peers, ISEV2016 facilitates the development of EV methods, provides visibility of new breakthroughs, introduces novel possibilities and gives boost to further research.
The ISEV community is open to other fields. If you have colleagues from other research areas interested in extracellular vesicles, please ask them to join you and visit ISEV2016.
We are committed to creating a most memorable scientific congress. Through your participation, interest and support, you will highly contribute to the success of the meeting and the advancement of the extracellular vesicle field. We hope to meet you in Rotterdam!
On behalf of the International Organizing Committee,
Edit I Buzás

ROTTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS
Rotterdam is the second-largest city in the Netherlands with over 600,000 and currently one of the largest ports in the world. As a result of international trade, Rotterdam has an intercultural, cosmopolitan character with over 170 nationalities. It is a young, dynamic, international city with a passionately beating heart. The city keeps reinventing itself at a rapid pace while continuously redefining and expanding its already impressive skyline. Rotterdam is simply bursting with architecture, design, art and culture, but also boasts a wide and varied range of shops, attractions, festivals, restaurants and parks.
VENUE
The de Doelen International Congress CentreRotterdam, The Netherlands
The de Doelen International Congress Centre is located at the very
heart of the dynamic city of Rotterdam and its special appeal lies in its dual function as international concert hall and conference centre. This is underscored by the building’s design: the remarkable 1960’s functionalist architecture of the original concert hall contrasts beautifully with the venue’s more dynamic and modern design.
ACCOMMODATIONS
We have reserved a number of rooms in various hotels that have been carefully selected for your convenience. The majority of the hotels are located in the center of Rotterdam, near the congress venue de Doelen, or at a location from which the congress venue can easily be reached by public transportation.
Reservations can be made online with the individual hotels.
