Dear Fort Bend County Friends & Neighbors:
It is a tremendous privilege and honor to serve you this year as President of theFort Bend County Fair & Rodeo. Our Fair is truly a treasure with a rich historyof serving youth and communities within Fort Bend County. This year we lookforward to another fun, educational, and entertaining 10 days.
Last year our Fair drew over 155,000 fairgoers. This marks the 5th consecutiveyear that we have drawn over 100,000 in attendance. More importantly, throughauctions and scholarships Fort Bend County youth received over 1 milliondollars. In addition, we had 155 sponsors which gave over $ 489,000 in cashand in-kind sponsorships. All of this was done in what was a challengingeconomic year for many of us.
The Fort Bend County Fair is the one event in our county where you can enjoya livestock show, rodeo, carnival, musical entertainment, and many otheractivities all in one place. That’s not to mention the many other events such asthe special citizens evening, senior citizens day, exceptional kid’s rodeo all ofwhich benefit and serve our communities.
Our Fair offers so much to so many. Of course this would not happen if not forthe many volunteers, sponsors, auction buyers and all of you who in some wayor another support the Fair. In addition, our Board of Directors and staff workyear round to continue to make our Fair the biggest and best in Texas!
In closing, I want to thank my wife Cheryl and sons Matt and Jacob for theirsupport and patience. I hope that you will join us for this year’s Fair onSeptember 27th – October 6th. Come and help us “Celebrate our WesternHeritage” and keep the traditions and values of the Fort Bend County Fair &Rodeo strong for the next 77 years.

History in Review
The first Fort Bend County Fair was held in 1933. The original Fairgroundswere located in Rosenberg, on the property now occupied by Fiesta on AvenueH. The only interruption in the county fair was during the years of World WarII. In 1974, the Fairgrounds were moved to the existing location at 4310 StateHighway 36 just south of U.S. Highway 59 in Rosenberg.
Youth education has always been a primary focus of fair activities. Thedevelopment of a scholarship program in 1979 has provided deserving FortBend County students with scholarships to Texas colleges and universities.Annually, thirty-two scholarships are awarded to our high school youth.
Through the years, the Fort Bend County Fair and Rodeohas grown into one of the largest and most successful
Fairs in the State. Residents of the county eagerlyanticipate visiting with friends and neighbors at some of
the many activities the Fair and Rodeo has to offer.

Scholarships
Proceeds from the 2012 Fort Bend County Fair and Rodeo and theFort Bend County Fair Life Membership Fund provided $2,000scholarships to 32 Fort Bend County qualifying students. Inaddition, 5 Fort Bend County Fair Queen Scholarships wereawarded. Since 1979, the Fort Bend County FairAssociation has awarded 618 scholarships to students.
Being a recipient of the Fort Bend County Fair Scholarship two years in a row has been ahuge blessing. I have used this money to completely pay for my textbooks and meal plansthe first four semesters of my college career. I am very appreciative to the association fornot only believing I can succeed in college, but also for supporting me through my fairprojects for many years. This scholarship has given me the extra finances I needed topush myself to further my education and do everything to the best of my ability. I amsincerely grateful for everything the Fort Bend County Fair Association has done for me,and I am glad they are continuing this tradition by helping future college students as well.
Rachel GonzalesTexas A&M University
Last year, I applied for the Fort Bend County Fair Scholarship and was fortunate enoughto receive it. The money I received has helped me fund my goal of graduating from TexasA&M University with an Animal Science degree. I have used my scholarship to help payfor my tuition, and hope to graduate from A&M in May of 2016. Without the support ofthe Fort Bend County Fair Association, I would be less likely to be able to fund my dreamof a college degree from Texas A&M University.
Megan HallTexas A&M University
Being a two-time recipient of the Fort Bend County Fair scholarship has been extremelyhelpful as I pursue my college education. I have been blessed to be a recipient of severalscholarships that have paid for my college education this far without having to take outstudent loans which has been a great relief! I am extremely grateful for the generosity ofthe amazing sponsors of the Fort Bend County Fair scholarships who assist students likemyself with financing their education. I would like to thank all of the sponsors who supportstudents from Fort Bend County and believing in us.
Zach PoncikUniversity of Houston
The Fort Bend County Fair Scholarship that I have received the last two years has beenbeneficial to my academic career. The scholarship was able to take care of tuition andbooks for my classes. I was honored to have received the Scholarship for my activitiesthroughout the years, and hopefully am able to give back to the Fair. "Learning to Do,Doing to Learn, Earning to Live, and Living to Serve", as the FFA motto, I plan to give backin many ways, especially as an educator of agriculture. If it were not for the Fair, I wouldnot have had the experiences that have shaped me into the person I am today.
Christina EspindolaSam Houston State University
The milestone transition I embarked on this fall was partly made possible by the financialsupport I received on behalf of the Fort Bend County Fair Scholarship Awards Program. Myfirst semester experience at Prairie View A&M University went very well. I managed tomake new friends through many professional engineering societies and continued my trackof academic excellence. I have also achieved many of my personal goals because I keptthe value of hard work in mind. I believe this stems from the work ethic I further developedwhile raising my agricultural projects for the Fort Bend County Fair. Thank you again forall your unwavering support.
