Barclay Chemicals Manufacturing Limited hold an IPPC licence granted by the

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) (Licence Register Number P0522-01). In

accordance with the conditions of this licence Barclay Chemicals Manufacturing Limited are

required to have a documented Annual Environmental Report (AER). Environmental

Efficiency Consultants Limited was commissioned on behalf of Barclay Chemicals

Manufacturing Limited to prepare their Annual Environmental Report 2012.

1.3 Environmental Policy

It is the policy of Barclay Chemicals to make the best use of our resources, to

continually improve environmental performance and prevent pollution.

Barclay Chemicals is committed to complying with the requirements of the IPPC

licence.

Barclay Chemicals will ensure that the processes used are engineered to the highest

practicable standard and that all personnel have appropriate training to ensure

compliance with this policy.




2 Site Description

2.1 Company Profile

Barclay Chemicals Manufacturing Limited is a Pan European company, based in

Dublin, Ireland. Since it was established in 1979 by Managing Director, Philip

Sheridan, Barclay has developed as an independent privately owned company with a

global focus in post patent Plant Protection Products. IPPC Licence No. P0522-01

was issued in October 2000 for the manufacture of pesticides and their intermediates.

It operates in a purpose build facility in an industrial estate.

In accordance with the company’s IPPC licence, Barclay Chemicals Manufacturing

Limited monitors air emissions for TA Luft Organics Class 1 at emission point A3-6.

6 Ground Water Monitoring Report

The groundwater sampling was carried out on the 12th

June 2012.Monitoring and

analysis was carried out as specified in Schedule 5(1) of Barclay Chemical’s IPPC

Licence.

There are no limits specified in the licence.

• For all the sampling points, the pH remained close to the neutral level.

• All COD levels were below 21mg/L.

• For sampling point GW2 the presence of organohalogens was detected. These

substances are as follows:

o Bromodichloromethane: 10 µg/L

o Chlorodibromomethane: 2 µg/L

o Chloroform: 37µg/L

� For sampling point GW1 and GW3 all the tested organohalogens were found

to be below the limit of detection (LOD).

The samples were taken using disposable plastic balers.

The analysis results for the three sampling points are shown in Table 5-1.

Copies of the certificates of analysis are contained in Appendix 1.

10 Tank and Pipeline Testing and Inspection Report All exterior pipe work and tanks were visually inspected weekly and before surface

water was released from the penstock valve. There were no leaks from pipe work or

flanges during 2012. An inspection log is available on site.

11 Review of Residuals Management Plan The Residuals management Plan was reviewed by the Technical Manager in 2012. No

changes were necessary. A copy of the plan is contained in Appendix 4 of this AER.

12 Review of Environmental Liabilities Insurance Cover Barclay Chemical Manufacturing Limited’s environmental liabilities insurance is

covered under its combined Public Liability policy. A copy of the policy is contained

in Appendix 5 of this AER.
