Welcome to St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church If you are visiting us for the first time, let us offer you an especially warm welcome. We hope that you

will enjoy worshiping with us. If at any moment in the service you are not sure what to do, ask any of

your neighbors in the congregation—they will be happy to help you. We would like to continue our

relationship with you, so please fill out a visitor card (found in the pew racks and on the back tables)

and drop the card in the collection plate or hand it to one of the clergy or ushers following the

service. Yellow "welcome" bags are available from greeters in the sanctuary narthex and lobby of the

parish hall for all newcomers.

Children are loved and welcomed at St. Margaret’s While children are always welcome at all services, professional nursery care for ages 0-4 is lovingly

provided from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Nursery (downstairs in the Annex building connected to

the church). Please ask an usher for assistance in locating the Nursery. We provide Sunday School

and formation for both adults and children for ages 3 and up on Sunday mornings from 10:20-11 a.m.

from Sept. through May.

extending your hands palms down when at the communion rail. The square wafers are kept in a

separate holder and you are invited to take one from this holder.

Our Welcome Statement The St. Margaret’s community consists of many fibers knitted together over three centuries. Our table

has seated meager farmers, plantation owners, reluctant rebels, agents of the Crown, enslaved

persons and slave holders. Our leadership includes partnered, married, single, widowed and

divorced Christians. We welcome in love persons of every race, gender, culture, sexual orientation

and gender identification. All people have a sacred worth and the fabric of St. Margaret’s grows

stronger with each new thread. It wraps in comfort the shoulders of the defeated and the hurt and

has been raised as a banner to celebrate God’s transforming wholeness in our midst. We welcome

you to be part of our fabric which will grow for centuries to come.

LESSON Acts 2:1-21

A reading from the book of Acts.

When the day of Pentecost had come, the disciples were all together in one place. And suddenly

from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house where

they were sitting. Divided tongues, as of fire, appeared among them, and a tongue rested on each

of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the

Spirit gave them ability.

Now there were devout Jews from every nation under heaven living in Jerusalem. And at this sound

the crowd gathered and was bewildered, because each one heard them speaking in the native

language of each. Amazed and astonished, they asked, "Are not all these who are speaking

Galileans? And how is it that we hear, each of us, in our own native language? Parthians, Medes,

Elamites, and residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and

Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya belonging to Cyrene, and visitors from Rome, both Jews and

proselytes, Cretans and Arabs-- in our own languages we hear them speaking about God's deeds of

power." All were amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, "What does this mean?" But others

sneered and said, "They are filled with new wine."

But Peter, standing with the eleven, raised his voice and addressed them, "Men of Judea and all who

live in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and listen to what I say. Indeed, these are not drunk, as

you suppose, for it is only nine o'clock in the morning. No, this is what was spoken through the prophet

Joel:

5

`In the last days it will be, God declares,

that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh,

and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,

and your young men shall see visions,

and your old men shall dream dreams.

Even upon my slaves, both men and women,

in those days I will pour out my Spirit;

and they shall prophesy.

And I will show portents in the heaven above

and signs on the earth below,

blood, and fire, and smoky mist.

The sun shall be turned to darkness

and the moon to blood,

before the coming of the Lord's great and glorious day.

Then everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.' "

Reader The Word of the Lord.

People Thanks be to God.

PSALM 104:25-35, 37 (said responsively by wholeverse)

25 O Lord, how manifold are your works! *

in wisdom you have made them all;

the earth is full of your creatures.

26 Yonder is the great and wide sea

with its living things too many to number, *

creatures both small and great.

27 There move the ships,

and there is that Leviathan, *

which you have made for the sport of it.

28 All of them look to you *

to give them their food in due season.

29 You give it to them; they gather it; *

you open your hand, and they are filled with good things.

30 You hide your face, and they are terrified; *

you take away their breath,

and they die and return to their dust.

31 You send forth your Spirit, and they are created; *

and so you renew the face of the earth.

32 May the glory of the Lord endure for ever; *

may the Lord rejoice in all his works.

Page 6: Annual Bluegrass Mass Day of Pentecost / Holy Baptism ...

6

33 He looks at the earth and it trembles; *

he touches the mountains and they smoke.

34 I will sing to the Lord as long as I live; *

I will praise my God while I have my being.

35 May these words of mine please him; *

I will rejoice in the Lord.

37 Bless the Lord, O my soul. *

Hallelujah!

GOSPEL John 20:19-23

Priest The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to John.

People Glory to you, Lord Christ.

When it was evening on that day, the first day of the week, and the doors of the house where the

disciples had met were locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said,

“Peace be with you.” After he said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples

rejoiced when they saw the Lord. Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has

sent me, so I send you.” When he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the

Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are

retained.”

Priest The Gospel of the Lord.

People Praise to you, Lord Christ.

The people may be seated.

THANKSGIVING OVER THE WATER

Celebrant The Lord be with you.

People And also with you.

Page 10: Annual Bluegrass Mass Day of Pentecost / Holy Baptism ...

10

Celebrant Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

People It is right to give God thanks and praise.

Celebrant We thank you, Almighty God, for the gift of water. Over it the Holy Spirit moved in the

beginning of creation. Through it you led the children of Israel out of their bondage in Egypt into the

land of promise. In it your Son Jesus received the baptism of John and was anointed by the Holy Spirit

as the Messiah, the Christ, to lead us, through his death and resurrection, from the bondage of sin into

everlasting life.

We thank you, Father, for the water of Baptism. In it we are buried with Christ in his death. By it we

share in his resurrection. Through it we are reborn by the Holy Spirit. Therefore in joyful obedience to

your Son, we bring into his fellowship those who come to him in faith, baptizing them in the Name of

the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

At the following words, the Celebrant touches the water

Now sanctify this water, we pray you, by the power of your Holy Spirit, that those who here are

cleansed from sin and born again may continue for ever in the risen life of Jesus Christ our Savior. To

him, to you, and to the Holy Spirit, be all honor and glory, now and for ever. Amen.

BAPTISM

The candidate is presented by name to the Celebrant who then pours water upon the candidate,

saying N., I baptize you in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Then the Priest places a hand on the person’s head, marking on the forehead the sign of the cross

and saying N., you are sealed by the Holy Spirit in Baptism and marked as Christ's own for ever. Amen.

The Celebrant says

Let us pray.

Heavenly Father, we thank you that by water and the Holy Spirit you have bestowed upon this your

servant the forgiveness of sin, and have raised him to the new life of grace. Sustain him, O Lord, in

your Holy Spirit. Give him an inquiring and discerning heart, the courage to will and to persevere, a

spirit to know and to love you, and the gift of joy and wonder in all your works. Amen.

GREAT THANKSGIVING Eucharistic Prayer B

The people stand as able.

Celebrant The Lord be with you.

People And also with you.

Celebrant Lift up your hearts.

People We lift them to the Lord.

Celebrant Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

People It is right to give God thanks and praise.

The Celebrant proceeds

It is right, and a good and joyful thing, always and everywhere to give thanks to you, Father Almighty,

Creator of heaven and earth.

Through Jesus Christ our Lord. In fulfillment of his true promise, the Holy Spirit came down on this day

from heaven, lighting upon the disciples, to teach them and to lead them into all truth; uniting

peoples of many tongues in the confession of one faith, and giving to your Church the power

to serve you as a royal priesthood, and to preach the Gospel to all nations.

Therefore we praise you, joining our voices with Angels and Archangels and with all the company of

heaven, who for ever sing this hymn to proclaim the glory of your Name:

SANCTUS Todd

Page 14: Annual Bluegrass Mass Day of Pentecost / Holy Baptism ...

14

We give thanks to you, O God, for the goodness and love which you have made known to us in

creation; in the calling of Israel to be your people; in your Word spoken through the prophets; and

above all in the Word made flesh, Jesus, your Son. For in these last days you sent him to be incarnate

from the Virgin Mary, to be the Savior and Redeemer of the world.

In him, you have delivered us from evil, and made us worthy to stand before you. In him, you have

brought us out of error into truth, out of sin into righteousness, out of death into life.

On the night before he died for us, our Lord Jesus Christ took bread; and when he had given thanks

to you, he broke it, and gave it to his disciples, and said, “Take, eat: This is my Body, which is given for

you. Do this for the remembrance of me.”

After supper he took the cup of wine; and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, and said,

“Drink this, all of you: This is my Blood of the new Covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the

forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this for the remembrance of me.”

Therefore, according to his command, O Father,

Celebrant and People

We remember his death,

We proclaim his resurrection,

We await his coming in glory.

The Celebrant continues

And we offer our sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving to you, O Lord of all; presenting to you, from

your creation, this bread and this wine. We pray you, gracious God, to send your Holy Spirit upon

these gifts that they may be the Sacrament of the Body of Christ and his Blood of the new Covenant.

Unite us to your Son in his sacrifice, that we may be acceptable through him, being sanctified by the

Holy Spirit. In the fullness of time, put all things in subjection under your Christ, and bring us to that

heavenly country where, with the Ever-blessed Virgin Mary, Margaret and all your saints, we may

enter the everlasting heritage of your sons and daughters; through Jesus Christ our Lord, the firstborn

of all creation, the head of the Church, and the author of our salvation. By him, and with him, and in

him, in the unity of the Holy Spirit all honor and glory is yours, Almighty Father, now and for ever.

Amen.

LORD'S PRAYER

And now, as our Savior Christ has taught us, we pray,

People and Celebrant

Our Father, who art in heaven,

hallowed be thy Name,

thy kingdom come,

thy will be done,

on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses,

as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom,

and the power, and the glory,

for ever and ever. Amen.

I'll fly away

To a home on God's celestial shore

I'll fly away

Chorus

I will fly away oh glory, I'll fly away

When I die Hallelujah by and by

I'll fly away

When the shadows of this life have gone

I'll fly away

I was standing by my window

When I saw that hearse come rolling

Come to carry my mother away

By and by Lord by and by

There’s a better home awaiting

In the sky Lord in the sky

So I told that undertaker

Undertaker please drive slow

Cause this body you are hauling

Lord I hate to see her go

Chorus

I wandered so aimless, my life full of sin

I wouldn't let my dear Savior in

The Jesus came like a stranger in the night

Praise the Lord, I saw the light!

Chorus

I saw the light, I saw the light

No more darkness no more night

Now I am so happy no sorrow in sight

Praise the Lord I saw the light

Just like a fool I wandered alone

Worries and cares I claimed for my own

Then like a blind man,

God gave back my sight

Praise the Lord, I saw the light

youth counselors, Spanish speakers to help with registration on Monday and Tuesday, other volunteers to help

with purchasing, preparing and serving snacks and lunches, people with large vehicles to help with

transportation of tables and supplies, people to help with crafts and games on Monday or Tuesday or to help

chaperone field trips on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. We always also need extra hands to do whatever

needs to be done. Any amount of time you would like to devote to the program, we can put you to work!

Join the Education for Ministry Program

The Education for Ministry program invites parishioners to join small, mentored communities that help us

understand our lives and share our actions as we deepen our Christian faith. Through readings and discussions,

we shape and define our personal ministry and spiritual growth. The setting is more “sharing” and discovery

than “teaching”. We learn and reflect through each other while having the advantage of texts to guide us. It is

a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental environment. St. Margaret’s EfM meets on Wednesdays from 9 am

until 11:30 weekly September through May in the Formation Building. For more information, please contact

Karen Engelke at [email protected] or 410-562-362 or Jim Hall at [email protected] or 410-956-5120).

The cost is $375 and includes all texts. Scholarship help is available. Students who have completed a year or

more previously are encouraged to rejoin the program; or if you want to explore EfM through the new texts, you

are very welcome.

June 4, 2017 – The Day of Pentecost

Today we mark Pentecost, the coming of the Holy Spirit among the apostles and followers of

Jesus. Celebrated 50 days after Easter (including the day of Easter itself), the name of the

holiday comes from the Greek Pentēkostē, which literally means “the 50th day.”

The events of the day are foretold by Jesus in the first chapter of the Acts of the Apostles, just

before his Ascension. While his followers were with the risen Christ, he tells them, “John baptized

with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now” (Acts 1:5,

NRSV). He goes on to say to them, “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon

you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the

earth” (Acts 1:8).

The followers would not wait long for the promised Spirit. The author of Acts, traditionally believed

to be Luke, recounts:

“When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly from

heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house where

they were sitting. Divided tongues, as of fire, appeared among them, and a tongue rested on

each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages,

as the Spirit gave them ability. Now there were devout Jews from every nation under heaven

living in Jerusalem. And at this sound the crowd gathered and was bewildered, because each

one heard them speaking in the native language of each” (Acts 2:1-6).

We celebrate Pentecost as the inauguration of the Church’s mission in the world. Empowered by

the gift of the Holy Spirit, we are to go out into our neighborhoods and the wider world—to

Jerusalem, to Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth—witnessing to the risen Christ.

The Day of Pentecost is identified by the Book of Common Prayer as one of the feast days

“especially appropriate” for baptism (Book of Common Prayer, p. 312). Because of this,

Pentecost is also known as “Whitsun” or “Whitsunday” (“White Sunday”), a term used to describe

the white baptismal garments worn by those who were baptized at the Vigil of Pentecost and

then worn to church on the Day of Pentecost.

Collect for Pentecost

Almighty God, on this day you opened the way of eternal life to every race and nation by the

promised gift of your Holy Spirit: Shed abroad this gift throughout the world by the preaching of

the Gospel, that it may reach to the ends of the earth; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives

and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen (Book of

Common Prayer, p. 227).

Bluegrass Mass Song Lyrics

River of Jordan

To the River of Jordan our Savior went one day

And John the Baptist met Him there

When John baptized Jesus in Jordan's rushing

waters

The mighty power of God filled the air.

I'm on my way to the River of Jordan

Gonna wade right in to the rushing waters

I'm going down to the River of Jordan

And let the cool waters cleanse my soul.

King Naaman was stricken with dreaded leprosy

And he sent for the man of God to pray

But Elisha said to Naaman Go dip yourself in Jordan

And let the cool waters wash your spots away.

So he went right down to the River Of Jordan

He waded right in the rushing waters

He dipped himself in the River of Jordan

And the cool waters made him whole.

Oh, the River of Jordan is many miles away

And this mighty river I may never see

But I'll find myself an alter in an old fashioned

church

And my River of Jordan that will be...

Tis So Sweet

'Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus

Just to take Him at His word

Just to rest upon His promise

And to know thus saith the Lord

Chorus

Jesus, Jesus how I trust Him

How I've proved Him o'er and o'er

Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus

O for grace to trust Him more

O how sweet to trust in Jesus

Just to trust His cleansing blood

Just in simple faith to plunge me

'Neath the healing cleansing flood

Yes 'tis sweet to trust in Jesus

Just from sin and self to cease

Just from Jesus simply taking

Life and rest and joy and peace

I'm so glad I learned to trust Thee

Precious Jesus Savior Friend

And I know that Thou art with me

Wilt be with me to the end

Rise up, Lazarus

Rise up Lazarus

Rise up from the dust

If in Jesus you believe

Then you shall be released

Go forth John and Paul

Spread the Gospel to them all

Give them courage to believe

And they shall be released

Now Jesus went to Bethany

In answer to an urgent plea

Two sisters fell down at his feet

They began to cry and weep

They lead him to their brother's grave

Jesus knelt to God and prayed

Now doubters who would not believe

Spread the word of what they'd seen

Then they began to congregate

First two to four then four to eight

God watched faithful multiply

As they echoed Jesus Cried

Now all us children here on Earth

Sometimes doubt worldly worth

But if in Jesus you do trust

You will rise like Lazarus

So if your feelin' down and out

Open up your heart and shout

In the Palm of Your Hand

If I could have the world and all it owns

A thousand kingdoms, a thousand thrones

If all the earth were mine to own,

with wealth my only goal

Page 25: Annual Bluegrass Mass Day of Pentecost / Holy Baptism ...

25

I'd spend my gold on selfish things

Without the love that your life brings

Just a "little bit more" was all I'd need

'til life was torn from me.

Chorus

I'd rather be in the palm of your hand

Though rich or poor I may be.

Faith can see right through the circumstance;

Sees the forest in spite of the trees.

Your grace provides for me.

If I should walk the streets, no place to sleep,

No faith in promises you keep.

I'd have no way to buy my bread with a Bible for

my bed.

But if I trust the one who died for me,

Who shed His blood to set me free

If I live my life to trust in you,

your grace will see me through.

Good Night, the Lord’s Coming

Well, goodnight, the Lord is coming

Knocking at the door, the door flew open

And love comes streaming down down

Down, Lord, down

Well, they robed him in white linen…

Well, Joseph bared his body…

Well, they found him in Gethsemane…

Take Up Your Cross and Follow Me

I walked one day along a country road

And there a stranger journeyed too

Below, beneath the burdens of his load

It was the cross, the cross I knew

Refrain

Take up thy cross and follow me,

I heard the blessed Savior call

How can I make the lesser sacrifice,

when Jesus paid it all

I cried "Lord Jesus" and he spoke my name

I saw his hands all bruised and torn

I stooped to kiss away the marks of shame

The shame for me that he had borne

The cross I’ll carry till the crown appears

The way of my journey soon will end

Till Christ himself shall wipe away all tears

And friends will fellowship with friends

Get Up in Jesus’ Name

Get up in, get up in Jesus’ name

The Lord is calling daily to those

Who would be saved

Don't go down defeated while victory’s

Here to claim

Get up, get up, get up in Jesus’ name

At the gate called beautiful, there laid out in the

street

A poor and lowly beggar who was crippled in his

feet

As John and Peter passed him, they saw his need

was bad

They had no gold or silver, but they gave him what

they had

In the day which we live in, there's evil everywhere

The body seems discouraged and overcome with

fear

Well God is needing soldiers, to get out of the pews

And take hold of the power that John and Peter

used

In the Sweet By and By

There’s a land that is fairer than day,

And by faith we can see it afar;

For the Father waits over the way

To prepare us a dwelling place there.

Refrain:

In the sweet by and by,

We shall meet on that beautiful shore;

In the sweet by and by,

We shall meet on that beautiful shore.

We shall sing on that beautiful shore

The melodious songs of the blessed;

And our spirits shall sorrow no more,

Not a sigh for the blessing of rest.

To our bountiful Father above,

We will offer our tribute of praise

For the glorious gift of His love

And the blessings that hallow our days.

Take Me to Heaven

Standing here looking out across the valley

Sun going down not coming on

I thank God way up in heaven

For sending Jesus His son.

Page 26: Annual Bluegrass Mass Day of Pentecost / Holy Baptism ...

26

Chorus

Oh Lord when I die, Take me to Heaven

For I want to walk those streets of gold

Far beyond those stars up in the heavens

There’s a home for me, so I’ve been told

When the evening sun is sinkin’

And it’s time to lay this body down

I won’t fear because I know my lord is with me

And he’ll hand me my robe and my crown

Beyond the Sunset for Me

My soul is now thrilling with joy He is filling

When I think of what's over life's sea

Our loved ones are waiting they're now

congregating

Beyond the sunset for me

Chorus

Beyond (over the sunset in that better home)

The sunset (angels are waiting to carry me home)

In Heaven with Jesus I'll be

Beyond (cares of this life will all vanish away)

The sunset (Jesus will shine as the light of the day)

Beyond the sunset for me

Such comfort in knowing that I'll soon be going

Where my soul shall forever be free

I see Jesus standing on the shore by the landing

Beyond the sunset for me

Down to the River to Pray

As I went down in the river to pray

Studying about that good old way

And who shall wear the starry crown

Good Lord, show me the way!

O sisters, let's go down,

Let's go down, come on down

O sisters, let's go down

Down in the river to pray

As I went down in the river to pray

Studying about that good old way

And who shall wear the robe and crown

Good Lord, show me the way!

O brothers, let's go down

Let's go down, come on down

Come on, brothers, let's go down

Down in the river to pray

As I went down in the river to pray

Studying about that good old way

And who shall wear the starry crown

Good Lord, show me the way!

O fathers, let's go down

Let's go down, come on down

O fathers, let's go down

Down in the river to pray

As I went down in the river to pray

Studying about that good old way

And who shall wear the robe and crown

Good Lord, show me the way!

O mothers, let's go down

Let's go down; don't you want to go down?

Come on, mothers, let's go down

Down in the river to pray

As I went down in the river to pray

Studying about that good old way

And who shall wear the starry crown

Good Lord, show me the way!

O sinners, let's go down

Let's go down, come on down

O sinners, let's go down

Down in the river to pray

As I went down in the river to pray

Studying about that good old way

And who shall wear the robe and crown

Good Lord, show me the way!

All Prayed Up

I'm all prayed up, I'm ready to meet my Savior

Eternal life is waitin' in the by and by

I'm all prayed up, my faith will never waiver

Heaven's doors gonna swing wide open when I die

I made my peace with Jesus a long, long time ago

Trusted in Him that He would save my soul

I walked up there beside Him, He guides me me on

my way

And I know He hears me when I kneel and pray

I'm all prayed up, I'm ready to meet my Savior

Eternal life is waitin' in the by and by

I'm all prayed up, my faith will never waiver

Heaven's doors gonna swing wide open when I die

Now I ain't afraid of Satan, his wicked ways of sin

They tempted me but he couldn't pull me in

When I've gone to live with Jesus, face my

judgment day

He'll fulfill for me the promise that He made

Elijah

In the Bible there's a story

about a man called Elijah

True and faithful old servant they say

And God did send for him a chariot of fire

And raptured Elijah away

Refrain

I may not go to heaven in a Chariot of fire,

I may not be raptured away

They may plant my body in a lonesome old

graveyard

But I'll be with Jesus in heaven that day

Imagine a man so strong and faithful that he

preached the gospel with his every breath

And God did send for him a chariot of fire

Saved him that old stink of death

Refrain

You may think your neighbor's been blessed more

than you have

Though you witness and work hard for God every

day

Friends don't watch your neighbors but put faith in

your bible

And God will deal with us each in his own way

Refrain

Anywhere with Jesus

Anywhere with Jesus I can safely go

Anywhere He leads me in this world below

Anywhere without Him dearest joy would fade

Anywhere with Jesus I am not afraid

Refrain

Anywhere, anywhere ...any little fear I'll never know

Anywhere with Jesus I can safely go

Anywhere with Jesus, I am not alone

Other friends may fail me, He is still my own

Tho' His hand may lead me over dearest ways

Anywhere with Jesus is a house of praise

Anywhere with Jesus I can go to sleep

When the darkening shadows round about me

creep

Knowing I shall waken nevermore to roam

Anywhere with Jesus will be home, sweet home

Daniel Prayed

I read about a man one day

He wasted not his time away

He prayed to God

Every morning, noon, and night

He cared not for the things avail

But trusted one who never fails

Oh, Daniel prayed

Each morning, noon, and night

Oh, Daniel served his living God

While upon the earth he trod

He prayed to God each morning, noon, and night

He cared not for the king's decrees

But trusted God to set him free

Oh, Daniel prayed every morning, noon, and night

They locked him in the lions' den

Because he could not honor men

But he prayed to God

Every morning, noon, and night

The jaws were locked; it made him shout

And God soon brought him safely out

Oh, Daniel prayed

Every morning, noon, and night

Oh, Daniel served his living God

While upon the earth he trod

He prayed to God each morning, noon, and night

He cared not for the king's decrees

But trusted God to set him free

Oh, Daniel prayed every morning, noon, and night

Now, brother, let us watch and pray

Like Daniel did from day to day

He prayed to God

Every morning, noon, and night

We, too, can gladly dare and do

And pray to God he'll see us through

Oh, Daniel prayed

Every morning, noon, and night

Oh, Daniel served his living God

While upon the earth he trod

God Can

Who can take the beggar in off the street

Give him clean clothes and food to eat

God can, I know God can

Who can take a heart turned bitter and cold

Make it brand new so it shines like gold

God can, I know God can

Chorus

God can take away all your pain

Make the sunshine chase the rain

Yesterday, today and forever the same

All gotta do is just call his name

Who can put the fellow back together again

That let their guard down and the devil crept in

God can, I know God can

Of the child that’s abuse and they can’t

understand

God can, I know God can

Chorus x2
