AnnualScientificMeeting
November 16-18 Ritz Carlton, Lake Oconee
Greensboro, GA
Welcome to the 2018 Annual Meeting of the Georgia Chapter of the American College of Cardiology! We are delighted to be back at the Ritz Carlton on Lake Oconee. In our 12th year, our tradition continues! The Program Committee has worked hard to develop a curriculum encom-passing relevant topics for your enjoyment. This year’s Conference will be divided into four major areas: 1) Cardiogenic Shock 2) Diabetes and Cardiovascular Disease 3) Stroke/Neuro Cardiology and 4) Imaging/Worried, Well-Patient.
Keeping last year’s format we’ll start on Friday afternoon, each topic will be introduced by a Keynote Speaker, a moderator and subsequent panel discussion, including commentary from our audience members. This format was well received by members. Saturday will begin with an update from the National ACC by Dr. Michael Valentine, who plans to spend the weekend with us. There will be time to interact for a National perspective of the challeng-es facing Cardiovascular Medicine, and the approach our American College is taking.
Saturday morning we’ll hear from a panel representing cardiology around the state discussing overlapping concerns circumventing delivery of cardiovascular services. Saturday evening, the Lifetime Achievement Award will be delivered to Dr. John D. Cantwell, recognized for contributions to medicine and the ACC, to be followed by illusionist Oz Pearlman. Sunday’s session will include a Women in Cardiology Breakfast with Dr. Sandra Lewis. Renowned cardiologist Drs. Dean J. Kereiakes and John S. Douglas, Jr. will present keynotes on Coronary Intervention and Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. “Faux Pas to Fortune” and a lively game of Jeopardy (FIT’s vs. Faculty) will close our conference. As always, our goals for the weekend remain:• Provide information that is relevant and practical to the care of our patients.• Create a forum for dialog between fellow ACC members regarding the practice issues we face every day.• Develop communication and relationships between our members and our industry partners.• Explore the challenges facing us in the new era of healthcare delivery, as we march along the road from volume to
value based services, and understand what the ACC is doing nationally, and what we might be doing locally and statewide.• Relax with family and friends. NEW THIS YEAR! We have our very own Conference APP available at the App store: GA ACC 2018. This app will house our schedule, our speakers, our sponsors and keep us all connected during the conference.
I want to welcome each of you back to our Chapter’s fabulous Annual Meeting and I hope to see as many of you as the Ritz can accommodate. Sincerely,
Charles L. Brown III, MD, FACC

Oz Pearlman is truly a master of his craft.
He will absolutely blow your mind and is
one of the best entertainers I’ve ever seen!
—Tony Robbins
Oz is a world-class entertainer and one of the busiest mentalists in the
country. He developed an interest in magic at a young age and what started
as a hobby quickly became a lifelong passion. After a couple of years spent
working on Wall Street, Oz decided to pursue his dream and become a
full time entertainer. He has now been dazzling audiences with his unique
mind-reading ability for over a decade.
Oz’s client list reads like a who’s who of politicians, professional athletes,
A-list celebrities, and Fortune 500 companies. His natural charisma and
charm make him the perfect choice for corporate events and private parties
alike. Oz’s unique blend of mentalism and mind-reading create an interac-
tive experience that is redefining the very nature of a magic show...one
that truly needs to be seen to be believed.
In the summer of 2015, Oz was featured on TV’s number one rated show,
America’s Got Talent. Week after week, he captivated the country with
never-before-seen mentalism routines and quickly became a fan favorite,
finishing in third place out of thousands of acts. Oz has also appeared on a
variety of both national and international networks, a few of which include
NBC’s Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, The TODAY Show & ABC World News
and been profiled in Forbes, The New York Times, to name but a few.
When he isn’t blowing the minds of audiences around the world, Oz is an
avid marathon and ultra-marathon runner, having completed such grueling
races as the Badwater 135 Miler, Hawaii Ironman World Championships,
Western States 100 and Spartathlon. He takes great pride in his marathon
PR of 2:23:52 and has won dozens of races throughout the country.
