Rotary District 7610 has initiated an exciting new program to recognize and show appreciation for clubs and individuals for their financial support of The Rotary Foundation. The Rotary Foundation Triple Crown will recognize clubs that are 100% Sustaining Member, 100% Paul Harris Fellow, and 100% Benefactor Clubs. Additionally, individual donors who are Sustaining Members, Benefactors, and Paul Harris Fellows will be
separately recognized.
Club Recognition and Appreciation: Each club that achieves Triple Crown status will receive a special Triple Crown patch for its club banner for each year that the club qualifies. Additionally, the club will receive club recognition banners for 100% Sustaining
Member Club, EREY Club, and 100% Paul Harris Fellow Club.
I n d i v i d u a l R e c o g n i t i o n a n d Appreciation: Individuals who are Sustaining Members, Benefactors, and Paul Harris Fellows will be recognized with The Rotary Foundation Triple Crown pin (facsimile shown at right), in appreciation for their continued
commitment to The Rotary Foundation.
Matching Points for First-Time Paul Harris Fellows: Matching Recognition Points also will be available this Rotary Year (only through June 5 or until available points are exhausted) for first-time Paul Harris Fellows. How will this work? Donors will receive a point-for-dollar match of Recognition Points. The points can be claimed on a first-come, first-served basis, until the available points are exhausted. The points will match donations to the Annual Programs Fund that are a minimum of $100 from donors whose contributions (when combined with the point-for-dollar match) will permit the donor to be recognized as a first-time Paul Harris Fellow. For example: If the donor has previously donated $300 dollars, the donor would need to contribute $350 additional to the Annual Programs Fund, which then will be matched with 350 Recognition Points. When combined with the donor’s previous contribution the new contribution and points must qualify the donor for first-time Paul Harris Fellow recognition. Donors who wish to take advantage of the points-for-dollar match to become first-time Paul Harris Fellows must send their Global Donor Forms (Form 123en) and checks, payable to “The Rotary Foundation,” to Annual Giving Chair Scott Mills, c/o EBLG, 8405 Greensboro Drive, Suite
210, McLean, VA 22102 by June 5.
May 1 (Kentucky Derby Day): Sip mint juleps at the kick-off celebration at the District Conference Hospitality Suite, following
the Governor’s Banquet.
May 15 (Preakness Day): Every club is encouraged to become a 100% Sustaining Member Club and be on its way to recruiting 100% Benefactors and 100% Paul Harris Fellows. Benefactor
commitments do not require an immediate contribution.
June 5 (the Belmont Stakes): Deadline for individuals to claim
point-for-dollar matches for first-time Paul Harris Fellows.
What is required for an individual to qualify for Sustaining
Member, Benefactor, and Paul Harris Fellow recognition?
Sustaining Member: Anyone who contributes US$100 or more per year to the Annual Programs Fund is automatically recognized as a Rotary Foundation Sustaining Member. Sustaining Members are critical to the Foundation. If every club member contributed $100 every year, Rotary could nearly double its efforts to help needy people worldwide and support the continued growth of its programs. All gifts cumulatively count toward other Foundation
recognition programs .
Benefactor: You may become a Benefactor by completing a Benefactor commitment card and making the Permanent Fund a beneficiary of $1,000 or more in your estate plans or by donating
$1,000 or more to the Permanent Fund outright.
Paul Harris Fellow: Donors of $1,000 or more to the Annual Programs Fund, PolioPlus, or the Humanitarian Grants Program, or people who have that amount contributed in their name, can be recognized as Paul Harris Fellows. [To be eligible for the point-for-
dollar match, please see the eligibility guidelines, above.]
Club Presidents and Foundation Chairs are encouraged to certify their clubs to District Rotary Foundation Chair Travis White as qualifying for the Triple Crown by June 5. Clubs that qualify this Rotary Year will be recognized at the District Awards Banquet on
June 26.
For questions or to request individual recognition lapel pins (now on order) for qualifying donors, please contact Annual Giving Chair
Scott Mills.

Alexandria Club Recognizes Foundation Donors During Club’s March 20 Charter Night Celebration
On Saturday March 20, 2010, the Rotary Club of Alexandria held its Charter Night dinner at Belle Haven Country Club marking the 82nd anniversary of the Club, which was founded
in 1928.
Club President Drew Carroll reflected how support for the Rotary Foundation, an effort led by Club Foundation Chairman Bill Jarrett, has been a major emphasis of the Club over the last year. Since March of 2009, members of the Alexandria Rotary Club have donated and pledged over
$115,000 to The Rotary Foundation.
Recognition of the Club’s Rotary Foundation achievements was a key ingredient for the success of the Charter Night event. Honored at Charter Night were twenty-three (23) new Paul Harris Fellows (PHF) as well as numerous multiple level PHF recipients. There were twenty-four (24) PH + 1 awards, ten (10) PH+2 awards, four (4) PH+3 awards, six (6) PH+4 awards, four (4) PH+5 awards, and one new awardee each at PH+6, PH+7 and PH+8 levels. Additionally the Club recognized three (3) new Bequest Society members, four (4)
new Major Donors and one Major Donor Level 3.
In attendance for the event were District Governor Horace McCormack, District Governor-Elect Ron Marion, District Governor-Nominee Jon Allan, and Past District Governor and District Rotary Foundation Chair, Travis White. Governor Horace introduced the keynote speaker of the event, Peter Kyle, recipient of the 2010 Rotary Foundation Global Alumni Service to Humanity Award. In 1973 Peter, who hails from New Zealand, was the recipient of a TRF Ambassadorial
Scholarship to pursue post-graduate studies at the University of Virginia. In his address he stressed how the Rotary Foundation had a direct and lasting impact on his life and his
career at the World Bank.
The formal portion of the event concluded with a toast to all Club members for their efforts over the year. Obviously, it was
a toast well-deserved.

District 7610 is honored to host the Rotary International President’s personal Representative, Talee Crowe, at the upcoming District Conference, April 29 to May 2, 2010. PDG Talee Crowe has given distinguished service to The Rotary Foundation. Talee serves as The Rotary Foundation Alumni Coordinator for Rotary District
5450.
Talee joined Rotary in 1988 and served as president of Smoky Hill Rotary Club in Aurora, CO. She was the first female District Governor in Colorado, serving District 5450 in 1999-2000. Her district conference received the Outstanding District
Conference Award from Rotary International.
Talee has served Rotary on the international level as a task force coordinator, Zone 25 Membership Coordinator and served four years as Major Gift Advisor for The Rotary Foundation. In addition, she has served as official representative for Rotary International presidents. Talee has served as an International Assembly Trainer in San Diego and
as a Governor Elect Trainer for Zones 25 & 26.
Talee served as District 5450’s Rotary Foundation Chair for four years. In that capacity, she was involved in district level
grant writing for Matching Grants as well as the district’s receipt of 3-H Grants to serve the needy in Africa. Talee is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow, Major Donor, Foundation Benefactor and charter member of the Bequest Society. She also participated in an NID in Ghana, Africa. Her deep commitment to The Foundation led to recognition with the Citation for Meritorious
Service in 2006.
“I love The Rotary Foundation because it allows me to do things for others that I could never do on my own. Also, by leaving a large bequest to the Foundation, my contribution to humanitarian work will continue in perpetuity long after I have
gone.”
Talee Crowe began her Business Brokerage Career in 1993, when she founded ZADE Enterprises, Inc., named for her four
children, Zachary, Andrew, David and Emily.
Prior to that she taught Sociology (with an emphasis on Occupations and Professions) at the University of Denver, the University of Colorado at Denver, and Colorado Women's College. The last four years of her academic endeavor focused on Career Development, allowing Talee to serve in the
Vocational avenue of Service every day.
Register today for District Conference to meet Talee Crowe and hear her motivational message on behalf of the Rotary
International President.
RIP’s Personal Representative at District Conference is Dedicated to Service Through The Rotary Foundation
According to one recent study, charitable giving is at its lowest level in 50 years when adjusted for inflation. Eight-six percent of nonprofits reported a decline in giving in 2009. At a time when humanitarian needs are escalating rapidly, the resources to meet those needs are
diminishing.
Fortunately, Rotarians are by nature a very generous group. Despite a worldwide economic recession, donations to the Annual Programs Fund in 2008-09 were the third highest in our
history.
Rotarians continue to support the Annual Programs Fund as well as the goal of meeting Rotary’s US$200 Million Challenge to ensure polio eradication. In addition, we are working to secure The Rotary Foundation’s future by building up our Permanent Fund, and we are striving to strengthen our peace efforts through our Rotary Centers for International Studies in peace and conflict
resolution.
It may seem like a lot to ask, and I wish I could tell you that your contributions to these efforts will cure all the world’s ills. What I can tell you is what will happen if our Foundation does not have sufficient resources to support your worthy projects: Polio will continue to cripple far too many children. Disease will spread more rapidly as fewer people have access to clean water and sanitation facilities. Countless women and girls will never learn how to read. And poverty, disease, and illiteracy will persist in
undermining our work toward peace in the world.
The Rotary Foundation belongs to all of us. It is our greatest resource for doing good, and it is our responsibility to maintain its strength. I hope every Rotarian will join us by making a
contribution to support the Foundation’s programs this year.
