MAIN GALLERY: iOTA _ Live Data Sculpture Installation

In mathematics, the inclusion map of one space into another is denoted by the lowercase iota. Light is the single element which can be perceived by the eye. iOTA is a LED installation inspired by light physics and research to find the origin of geometry. Corresponding to the focus of the observer, the nature of light and its different phenomena can be seen beyond the perceptivity of the human mind. iOTA attempts to translate them into a unified, non-spatial form.

GALLERY 1: H OM E OMOR PH ISM A/V Performance

Ouchhh abstracts the dusty and mountainous topology of the American Southwest into a hypnotic and immersive experience.

Also called a continuous transformation, homeomorphism is an equivalence relation and one-to- one correspondence between points in two geometric figures or topological spaces that is continuous in both directions. Many forms observed in nature can be related to geometry. In accordance with classical geometry, the shapes found in nature consist of lines and planes, circles and spheres, triangles and cones. These shapes actually are a powerful abstraction of reality, primitive objects used to give a form and to help understand the complex structure that exists in nature. In H OM E OMOR PH ISM, the starting point is the pertinent points of overlap between topography and primitive object. The inspiration comes from the extreme diversity of New Mexico’s landforms (which is divided into four regions: Great Plains, Rocky Mountains, Colorado Plateau, Basin and Range Province), general changes of topography and homeomorphism.

Installations Places: IAIA | Institute of American Indian Arts in New Mexico, USA; CERN, The European Organization for Nuclear Research, Geneva, Switzerland; SAT, Société des arts technologiques [SAT], Montreal, Canada; National Space Center UK

GALLERY 2: PORTAL

If there were a portal linking us to a parallel universe or some other region of space, how would we spot it? The Portal is an interactive inter-cosmic gateway opening to a parallel universe. Ouchhh designed and produced a responsive digital artwork that reacts to visitors movements with real-time data visualization between earth and space.

MEDIA LAB: Orion_ Code Base Light Installation

The constellation of Orion is one of the most prominent and recognizable constellations in the sky, as its location on the celestial equator allows it to be seen all over the planet. It was of central importance to many ancient cultures, and its alignment with the position of the stars matches up precisely to various ancient structures, from the pyramids at Giza to those found at Teotihuacán in Central Mexico. The three pyramids at Giza are some of the most mysterious, perplexing, and magnificent ancient structures in the world. Together they demonstrate the concept of sacred alignment, as they form a precise three-dimensional map of the stars in the belt of Orion onto the ground. The pyramids' size and placement also take into account both the visible brightness and location of the stars within Inspiration for comes from Orion correlation theory and the relative distances from Earth to the stars.
