This was a proposal for continuation of an Ujjawala project

beyond three years. The organization explained the project and

need for intervention. The PSC noted that the organization is

also running a Swadhar home in the same district. On a specific

query from PSC, the address of the Ujjawala home shared by the

NGO representative did not match with the available records.

This was a proposal for continuation of an Ujjawala project

beyond three years. The organization representative explained

the achievements of the first three years of Ujjawala

implementation. The State Government also endorsed the good

work done by the organization. The PSC noted that the

organization may not need prevention component as it has been

successful in achieving the desired awareness level. However,

the organization and the State Government requested for

prevention component for one more year.

The PSC approved the continuation of the project for four

components – Prevention (only for the first year), Rescue,

Rehabilitation (for 50 beneficiaries only as initially sanctioned)

and Reintegration. It was decided that the Ministry would

release the first installment of the 4th

Year to begin with but the

release of second installment would be subject to receipt of

the authenticated copy of license for running protective home

project. The PSC noted that the area is vulnerable for trafficking.

However, the NGO has little experience in working on anti

trafficking activities. However there was no P&R home in the

State as the promoter of the only home sanctioned for the

State (Sacred Home Society) was found to be a fraud

organization on an inspection done by the State Government. In

view of this, the PSC felt that while a P&R home could be

sanctioned particularly as the State Government was strongly

supporting the case, the components of Reintegration and

Repatriation need not be approved immediately.

The PSC approved the project for three components –

Prevention, Rescue and Rehabilitation (for 25 beneficiaries

only).
