Set in 1972 Pacific War, the film follows the

crash of US aircraft into the Cambodian mountains. The survivor ends up being

imprisoned by the villagers. However, him being African American arises an issue for the

villagers.

For the naive, mesmerised young child telling this story, the man's nationality, race and

language does not make him an enemy or a stranger, but merely an animal that needs to be taken care of. Will the child be able not to

kill the enemy?
