Anne Fontaine Foundation Announces New “Green Attitude” InitiativeThe movement launches with the Green Attitude Gala on March 21, 2019 at the French
Embassy in Washington, DC
February 5, 2019 -- The Anne Fontaine Foundation formally announced today the first
event of its new Green Attitude initiative, the Green Attitude Gala. Presented by artist
Pascal Blondeau and under the patronage of French Ambassador to the United States
Gérard Araud, the event will celebrate the contributions of women across various
industries to environmentalism and sustainability and its funds will go to benefit the
Foundation's mission to plant 100,000 trees in Brazil's Mata Atlântica by 2020.
With special guests Anne Fontaine, Vera Wang and world-renowned French singer
Sheila and catered by chef Zoé Deleu, the gala-- celebrated on the International Day of
the Forest-- will feature a nature-inspired dinner and drinks followed by a performance
from Sheila and a historical speech from Ambassador Araud. A dress donated by Gisele
Bündchen will be auctioned off to benefit the Foundation; the Brazilian supermodel said
she is "a determined supporter of environmental causes and preservation of nature's
treasures. I hope and pray that together we can save the Earth from humanity's
shortsighted and irresponsible behavior so that we can leave a better world for our
children and grandchildren."
Franco-Brazilian fashion designer Anne Fontaine's eponymous foundation will benefit from the gala.
The gala's theme is "La parole est aux femmes," or "the voice of women," celebrating
the leadership that women have shown with regards to 21st-century environmental
issues. Women are taking unparalleled strides in environmentalism as heads of global
companies, leaders, and innovators working to find solutions to sustainability problems
that we face today, and each of our special guests represents the key role played by
women in diverse industries, reminding us how important it is to continue raising the
voice of women.
The Anne Fontaine Foundation has already planted 45,000 trees in Brazil's Mata Atlântica.
About the Anne Fontaine Foundation
Founded in 2011, the non-profit Anne Fontaine Foundatino was set up by Anne
Fontaine as an homage to the Brazilian forest that was once her home. The foundation
seeks to raise awareness about environmental issues through eco-friendly art and
fashion. With the primary goal of reforesting the Brazilian Mata Atlântica, the foundation
strives to reinvigorate one of the most biodiverse forests in the world-- and one of the
most threatened, with only 7% still intact. Since its founding, the foundation has worked
with NGOs in Brazil to plant 45,000 trees, and plans to use funding from the gala to
increase this number.
Individual gala tickets start at $1,000. Sponsorship opportunities are available. For more
