Vacation Bible School 2017

This year’s theme is Camping Through God’s Word. There

are sign up sheets in the Foyer hanging on clip boards for

teachers and craft teams. Each age group has 2 teachers and

2 helpers. Please sign up to teach or work the craft area

by May 21, when we will have a meeting and will be

passing out the curriculum. Thank you in advance!

Jeanetta Tomlin continues her recovery from an asthma attack and pneumonia.

Roy Head has been transferred to NHC Maury Regional Transition Center, room

2302, where he continues to recover and heal from his fall and broken leg.

Justin Gobell, son of Susan Gobell, continues his recovery from a concussion

sustained in a motorcycle accident. Dizziness remains an issue and he was

recently diagnosed with broken bones and a fracture in his wrist. Cards may be

sent to Susan Gobell’s address (posted in the foyer).

Tommy Hemphill, known to many and member at West 7th, is not doing well at

this time. He is receiving strong chemo treatments for brain cancer.

John Groat, a family relation to Barbara Jump, remains in the hospital in

Wyandotte, MI with lung cancer.

Raiden Jump, great-nephew of Wendell and Barbara Jump, was released from

the hospital for his “maiden trip home”, after months of preemie hospital care!

J.O. Thurman, father of Lisa Thurman who processes our mail, is recovering

from cancer surgery. Several new tumors were found and removed. Radiation

therapy is being scheduled.

Sympathy

We sorrow with Don & Alma Sisk and Dean & Donna Dial in the passing of

Patricia Luna, Don’s sister and Donna’s aunt. Sister Luna died at her home on

Wednesday, May 10th, following an extended illness. Her funeral was Saturday,

May 13, at Oakes & Nichols with burial following at Friendship Cemetery.

Response

Soleil Duncan came forward last Wednesday evening, May 10th, thanking people

for their prayers. She shared that she is experiencing some improvement and

her doctors have developed a treatment plan. She also asked for prayers for

Reece, a new friend and fellow patient, that she met during her doctor visit.

2017 VBS Planning Meeting Sunday, May 21st

There will be a VBS planning meeting Sunday, May 21st, in the front of the audi-

torium following morning worship. Volunteers are needed for teaching,

teacher aides, or crafts. Curriculum will be handed out at the meeting.

Boxes have been set up in the foyer, along with a list of necessary and optional

items. We would like to have the filled boxes returned by June 18th. Please

remember to specify on the outside of the box the age group and gender for the

intended recipient. Thank you in advance for using your time, income, and talent

to Make A Godly Impact (M.A.G.I.) in the lives of others.

Healing Hands International-Boys’ Tees and Shorts Project

Don’t forget, we’re also working on sewing or buying boys’ shorts and matching

tee shirts this summer! The deadline for this project is August 27th.

Things to remember:

Clothing needs to be new

Sizes 18 months to size 16

Lighter tops preferable due to hotter climate

Please safety pin tees & shorts together

You may also give money to Twyla to purchase clothing

Clothing can be turned in at any point until the August 27th deadline
