ESOTERIC-THE IT CLUB 2016-17

[IN PURSUIT OF EXCELLENCE]

”ESOTERIC” is a IT club started by computer science department on 31st may 2002.

“ESOTERIC” means “a group of people with common interests”. “ESOTERIC” has been providing the

platform for students to increase confidence, teamwork, and stress management qualities to

become better entrepreneurs in the IT industries. Along with “ESOTERIC” we also have the KWEC,

Rahul Kapoor’s workshop for effective communication, where the students are trained on

communication skills,professional presentation, Group discussion and interview skills.

A unique Academic Social Responsibility (ASR) of the department is in the form of the social

initiative “WE CARE” a sub domain of Esoteric. The IT club of computer science department. The

main objective of “WE CARE” is to emotionally, economically and academically support to the

students and senior citizens. Who are away from home, the staff and even some of the alumni cares

the needy. In a word “WE CARE” is “Home away from Home” in all aspects.

Path Finder: Online treasure hunt, collaboration of fun and technical thinking. 10. Tech Talk: It’s about presenting and getting acquitted with latest ideas and technologies. 11. Collage: It is a technique of composing work of art by pasting on one surface. 12. One Minute Gaming: Fun based events to release the stress and refresh ourselves. 13. IT Manager: The most awaited event to find king of corporate responsible for Implementing

an organizations operational requirements and technology solutions.

“To improve is to change; to be perfect is to change often. “ So this year onwards Esoteric

is transformed with new structure. Under the Umbrella of Esoteric now we have esoteric events,

clubs, forums and interface. Esoteric clubs and forums brings proactive and enthusiastic learning

through different activities, each club and forum will conduct various activities throughout the year

which helps interested students to nurture their interests and to evolve. Interface will helps to

continue our association with our proud alumni.

Esoteric Events:

ESOTERIC 2016-17 events are divided in to two seasons. Each event is designed to equip students

for future needs of corporate. Every events will be conducted at class level under the guidance and

monitoring of class teachers to ensure complete participation. Pre-Finals and finals will conducted at

department level which include both BCA and B.Sc. Students. Events of ESOTERIC will help every

student to exhibit their talent. Each class will competing to show their potential and bring glories to

A-VIEW- FORUM A-VIEW - Amrita Virtual Interactive E- Learning world. A-VIEW can be called as a VERSATILE INSTANT AND ENGAGING REAL TIME COLLABORATION.

A-VIEW classroom is an interactive knowledge sharing platform where, through which a teacher can reach out

a large number of geographically available students at the same time.

This software is a video conferencing tool similar to the e-learning technique where the paper work can be

reduced to a maximum extent. Time management is the major concern in this software. Moderator/Teacher role and

the student role both will be beneficial since this is an interactive learning/teaching platform and helps one to one

knowledge sharing relationship.

Conclusion:

It was a fruitful session where students interacted and learnt new things. However, learning online is

different from learning in a face-to-face setting, and it is important to think about your goals, your needs and your

interests before committing yourself to something. You also need to think about the time you have available, your

comfort level with using technology and the equipment that is at your disposal. As we all become more familiar with

computers and computer access becomes increasingly common, online learning will continue to open doors and offer

learning opportunities for those who are interested.

OBJECTIVE

The Web Dev Club is dedicated to interested students leading-edge web

technologies, fundamental to advanced. No prior experience with web development is

required to join the club. A basic understanding of front-end development (HTML,

CSS, and JavaScript) will maximize benefit from club presentations and activities. The

Motto of Web Development club is to promote learning and professional

growth in the field of web development. ACTIVITIES OF WEB DEVELOPMENT CLUB:

Mr. ABHISHEK MOKASHI, working for PERFTECH SOLUTIONS conducted

one day workshop on 25-2-2017 to give hands on experience for Web

Development.

In the first session the students were given the brief lecture on web

development where they learnt about the basic html tags and its uses. In

the second session the students were given with a set of html code and

were asked to make some alterations to get a different set of output based

on the first session. The students were successful in getting the required

outputs.

Graphic Design - CLUB

The objective of the club is to promote creative growth and awareness of graphic

design. The Graphic Design Club's purpose is to educate, expose, and provide

resources to students interested in anything and everything relevant, historical or

current, in the world of graphic design. Graphic design is the art of visual communication, the

visual representation of ideas or concepts. ACTIVITIES OF GRAPHICS DESIGN CLUB

The Graphics Design club conducted a two day work shop titled “The advanced graphic

design course” on 27th and 28th of Aug 2016 to enrich and enhance graphic knowledge for Club

members by Mr. Ajay Kumarworking for PERFTECH SOLUTIONS.

This advanced graphic design course includes the study of movements that shaped today's

design world followed by discovering how to conceptualize projects, reinvent clichés, distill complex

information, and motivate viewers. Workshop includes postage design, poster and book design, an

art poster, and UI Design for Websites.

After attending workshop:

The club members could apply traditional and digital design techniques to create polished

graphic design.

The members are able to s elect and set typography to communicate a specific message in logo

designs and page layouts.

The members are able to use knowledge of the characteristics of type to create cohesive and

expressive logo designs.

The members could use a layout grid and professional layout rules to design engaging magazine

covers, article spreads, book covers, and book chapter pages.

The members are able to create magazine and book layout designs with a clear visual hierarchy

of information.

APPDROID CLUB – APP DEVELOPMENT CLUB

OBJECTIVE

The Mobile App Developers club is to motivate and encourage designing and

building mobile applications that will benefit the students. Members will learn all

the processes of app development. The goal is to help students learn about various

events and opportunities and communicate with each other, the Mobile App

Developer’s Club creates campus-related mobile apps that aid students in a variety

of ways.

ACTIVITIES OF APPDROID CLUB

The club was inaugurated on 5th April 2017 and the training session commenced

on the same day. Our student Mahendra, who has developed several apps for the

college trained the students.

Members of the club were introduced to Android Studio Environment and its

usage. They learnt to develop a simple “Hello World” app.

In the subsequent sessions, they were taught about navigation drawer.

Members were able to develop “WEB BROWSER APP” and “CAMERA APP” after the

training sessions.

Source code needed to develop apps along with required documentation was

distributed to members.

LINUX- rwx CLUB

The mission of club is helping students realize the power of the free-and-open-

source software that exists today; Linux has proven to be an exceedingly powerful

platform that has the ability to adapt to the needs of any kind of user. The club hopes to

help students learn about these ever-expanding set of features, and ultimately help

users adapt their Linux environments to cater to their specific needs

Activities of Linux Club:

One day workshop was conducted to Linux club members by Mr. S VEERABABU working as System Admin for Capegemini on 18-2-2017. The purpose of the workshop is to give competency as a beginner user of Unix. At the end of the course each student will have the ability to use Unix to perform file management, electronic mail, file editing, command piping and filtering, file permissions with hands-on sessions. The club members had great opportunity to learn several Linux concepts. After the workshop the club members had a Quiz on Linux and Certificates and momentos was given to the winners

INAUGURATION REPORT FOR THE YEAR 2014-‘15

DATE: 19-07-2014 TIME: 12.15 PM

ESOTERIC-THE IT CLUB for the academic year 2014-’15 was inaugurated by Dr Chandrasekhar,

Consultant Infosys on 19th July 2014. It was a mega event attended by Degree Principal Dr B S

Srikanta, PU Principal Prof B R Chandrasekharappa, Head of the Department Prof A Srinivas, all dept

staff, staff of other departments and all BCA and BSc Students. It was organized in Seminar Hall.

1. The event began with the showcase of college video to all students and specially for the I Year

Students.

2. Suhas and Chethana of V BCA A were the MC of the event.

3. The invocation was by Sumukha and Umashree of final years.

4. The formal note of inauguration by lighting the lamp was done by all the dignitaries on the

dais.The gathering was welcomed by HOD Prof A. Srinivas He also introduced the Chief Guest

to the gathering.

5. The Esoteric video that created awareness about the event was showcased. A video of WE

CARE- An initiative from the department to inculcate a social responsibility among the

students was shown to the juniors.

6. The entire activities of Esoteric for the year 2014-’15 under two seasons was informed to

the students. Divya H A of final year brilliantlyread out the events, its objectives, organizers

and teachers coordinators of the event.

7. The meritorious students of the previous semesters were acknowledged and awarded.

8. This was followed by Oath administering.

9. The Chief Guest Dr Chandrasekhar addressed the gathering. His session was very educative

and lively… He spoke about basic networking concepts and the importance of

“1G, 2G, 3G ………….YG”. The topic reached to all the spectrum of BCA students.

“ Quite simple, Very informative, highly motivating” were the students feedback.

10. Later, PU Principal Prof B R Chandrasekharappa remarked that the session was very

informative and he could know understand the meaning of different spectrum of networking

and asked the students use the learning.

CHIEF GUEST PROFILE DrChandrasekar has acquired Bachelor, Master & PhD Degrees in Electronics & Communication Engineering. His specialization during Doctoral studies was on Fiber Optic Communication way back in 1996 from IISc, Bangalore. For the last 25 years, he has held positions of Lecturer, Assistant Professor, Professor, HOD, Chairman BoE / BoS in BU & VTU as well. His academic pursuits include about 120 publications in various national & international conferences, journals and textbooks. He is associated with the Corporate sector for over 15 years in various roles like Software Engineer, Module Leader, Project Manager, Senior Project Manager & Head for Research &Training. The MNC projects for which he has contributed includes Infosys, Lucent, Nortel, Cisco, Alcatel & British Telecom to name a few. His favorite hobby is trekking and has hiked in Asian, European & North American continents up to 18000ft above sea level. He also loves deep sea snorkeling.

The events of ESOTERIC 2015-16 were divided into 2 seasons, each season having its own specific target

areas to achieve. This whole structure was built on the basis of “peer-to-peer” learning, to which the

students showed great enthusiasm.Over the entire two seasons of Esoteric, the students profoundly took

it up as a challenge and competed through the ranks of groups to bring laurels to their teams. The new

system not only promoted competition but also brought the best out of them.

ESOTERIC-THE IT CLUB 2017-18 [IN PURSUIT OF EXCELLENCE]

ESOTERIC 2016-17, 17TH Inauguration Function was held on 1st APRIL 2017 for which honored chief guest

was Mr. Raghavendra, Project – Lead, Wipro Limited.who was joined by our beloved Degree Principal

Mrs. Sakuntala Samuelson and Head Of The Department Prof. A. Srinivas.

Theme of the ESOTERIC INAGURATION 2017-18 was “ HACKATHON “.

Function started with lightning the lamp by dignitaries followed by an invocation song and a

dance by our BCA student. BCA Final year students gave a demo on HACKATHON. The chief guest

delivered few useful facts and thoughts regarding HACKATHON which created awareness of hacking in

the e-world.

“To improve is to change; to be perfect is to change often. “ So this year onwards

Esoteric is transformed with new structure. Under the Umbrella of Esoteric now we have esoteric

events, clubs, forums and interface. Esoteric clubs and forums brings proactive and enthusiastic

learning through different activities, each club and forum will conduct various activities

throughout the year which helps interested students to nurture their interests and to evolve.

Interface will helps to continue our association with our proud alumni.

Esoteric Events:

ESOTERIC 2017-18 events are divided in to two seasons. Each event is designed to equip

students for future needs of corporate. Every events will be conducted at class level under the

guidance and monitoring of class teachers to ensure complete participation. Pre-Finals and finals

will conducted at department level which include both BCA and B.Sc. Students. Events of

ESOTERIC will help every student to exhibit their talent. Each class will competing to show

their potential and bring glories to their class.

SURGE 13

Under the Management Club Proficience, the department conducted on 6th

Sept‟2013.

SURGE 13 an exclusive management fest organized by II year BBM students to identify

the talents of the I year BBM students. The said competition covers events viz.,Pearl

(Entrepreneur), Marina (Finance),Merrick (Human Resource),Marilla (Business

quiz),Maritza (Marketing).The theme for this years‟ SURGE is “OCEAN”. Mr. Murali

M S Senior Manager- Employee Engagement, iGATE was the guest on the occasion. The

highlight of the fest was that Marketing Participants were taken to Magrath Road for the

purpose of sales and service Task. Where in a participant convinced and gained Rs. 600

profit by selling the product worth Rs50 which was duly provided.

LIVE PROJECT : Final year B.B.M student Mr.Tharun Shastry L has made the college proud by doing a

project for „Vodafone Business Services (V.B.S)‟ entitled “A Study on Mobile Usage

Pattern of Corporate Women to Introduce a Customised plan with Special Reference to

V.B.S” during March 2014. The proposed plans were approved by Vodafone Business

Services and it was successfully launched in entire Karnataka Telecom Circle on the

occasion of International women‟s day, 8th

of March 2014.He was paid internship of

Rs10000/- & also awarded with Samsung Note S2.

PAPER PRESENTATION BY STUDENTS: Mohamed Younus & Teertha kumar of IV SEM BBM won 2

nd prize for their paper

presentation titled “The study on Role of NABARD in financial inclusion in India”

conducted on 3rd

march 2014 at St.Josephs College of commerce.

EDP CELL:

We conducted ENTREPRENEURSHIP WEEK from 11th

March 2014 to 14th

March

2014. The motive behind this fest was to imbibe the entrepreneurial skills in our students.

EDP week concentrated on events namely Product Launch, Food Fest, Exhibition cum

Sale and Treasure Hunt.

SURGE 14 Under the Management Club Proficience, the department conducted on 2

SURGE 14, an exclusive management fest organized by II year BBM students to identify

the talents of the I year BBM students. The said competition covers events viz., (Best

Manager), (Finance), (Human Resource), (Business quiz), (Marketing).The theme for this

year’s SURGE was “FORMULA 1”. Mr. Govind Babu, International Trainer of GO-

WIN was the guest on the occasion.

SURGE 15 Surana College Management Club - Proficience had organized Inauguration of SURGE

2015 on 25th

July 2015. Surge was organized by 2nd

Year BBM students with an

intension of providing an opportunity for 1st year BBM students to excel themselves in

upcoming challenges in corporate world and Churn out the potential talents of the

participants. SURGE 2015 was inaugurated on 25.07.2015 by Dr. Sudhir Anand,

Chairman & Chief Mentor – Crystal River Hospitalities LLP. The Chief Guest

emphasized that for being successful individuals should work with passion and informed

that entrepreneurship is booming and young entrepreneurs are becoming more successful

in recent times and students can look at entrepreneurship as career opportunity. Dr.

Sakuntala Samuelson, Principal of the College presided over the function.

FRESH FACE 2015

In association with Times of India Clean and Clear Bangalore Times Fresh Face 2015

Competition was held on 15th

September, 2015.

WORLD’S HEART DAY on 28/09/2015was celebrated by playing a video on how to

handle heart attack when a person is alone and also displayed articles on taking care of

heart by the faculty members.

On the occasion of WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY on 04/07/15 the students of

Management Department enacted a dance drama as a part of co-curriculum. The play

show cased the richness of the green and cordial harmony among creatures.

ETHNIC DAY was celebrated

MR SOUTH INDIA COMPETITION

It was organized by Infant School Of Fashion on 10th October 2015 in Basveshwarnagar.

There were 18 boys and 18 girls who took part in this competition. Participants were

from Maharashtra, Jammu Kashmir, Kerala, Goa, Chennai Karnataka and Andhra

Pradesh etc. Adithya M Hegde of final year BBM was the 2nd

runner up.

2016-17

WORKSHOP BY SHIV KHERA

Students attended a workshop of renowned motivational speaker and author Mr. Shiv

Khera on 03/07/2016. The theme was “Winners don‟t do different things, they do things

differently”.

WORLD POPULATION DAY

As a part of the awareness programme of the World Population Day, Students of BBA

had performed a skit to create awareness about the effects of increasing population on

11/07/2016.

FRESHER’S PARTY-Manthan-16 was organised on 01/08/2016.

STUDENT SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY:

As a part of Proficiency club, the Students of BBA had been to Government Model

Primary School, Yediyur, Bangalore on 11/08/2016 2016 for the distribution of 300 long

note books.

SURGE 2016 SURGE 16 was inaugurated on 17/09/2016 by Muralidhar V, H.O.D, BBA. This event

continued for one week and was concluded on 24/09/2016 with Valedictory by Principal

Dr. Sakuntala Samuelson. Alumni Chandan & Anand Atre was part of the prize

distribution.

2017-18

OUTBOUND LEARNING PROGRAM:

Department of Management had organized an “Outbound programme” for entrants of

BBA at Micro labs in Kudlu on July 16 2017.The objective of the programme was to

introduce the entrant of Bachelors of Business Administration to choice based credit

system(CBCS) and to interact with the alumni. Orientation about CBCS was briefed by

Mr. Muralidhar .V HOD of the Department of Management. The Guests for the

programme were Mr. Abhishek Bagrecha, CEO of Brand Matrix, an Event Management

Company, Mr. Sandesh Lead Recruiter in Microsoft & Mr. Nikshit a business consultant.

KINDNESS MARATHON

Ashwin Kumar & Nithin V (II year BBA students) organized a Kindness Marathon

through their event management company-Skylit. I year student Darshan T N was the

winner of marathon.

INTER-DEPARTMENT ACTIVITES

Department conducted various activities such as Product launch, Finance quiz, mehendi,

nail art, wealth from waste.

REXONA CONFIDENCE ACADEMY A seminar which was conducted by Rexona Confidence Academy dated 21/08/2017 was

mainly concentrating on the topics “How to build up confidence level among college

girls” a video which comprises of Do's and Don‟ts in an interview. The video has also

demonstrated that how a personal interview process is conducted

BEST PRACTICE- Students & faculties went to Hichhki movie and students analyzed

Management lesson learnt from the movie.
