OVERVIEW:

Animation 1 1. The Pirate Piggies get away with the treasure chest.

Close up of Pirate Piggies (one captain and three pirate pigs) on the deck of a ship with the treasure chest (closed). Zoom out to reveal ship sailing away into distant ocean. Audio including wind and waves.

Animation 2 Page 15. The Map is singing about where they will need to visit. They repeat several times ‘Mountain, Bridge, Treasure Island’ to help the kids remember.

Images of the mountain, the bridge and the island flash on their position on the map while being sung about to help reiterate the message. Images must be in line with ‘Nickelodeon’ images.


Animation 3 7. Swiper is trying to get away in a fast hot rod.

Swiper climbs into happy-looking car. Engine revs then breaks down (spluttering SFX) with smoke from bonnet and car’s face turning sad.

Background: mountainous terrain.


Animation 4 2. First time we see the boat the characters are travelling on and they sing about being at sea.

Image of a sea and the horizon in the background with fish and sea creatures dancing in and above water. Animation ends with a dolphin doing a flip and splashing down into the water sending water and confetti into the air.

Duration: 50 seconds.

Animation 5 Page 35. Boat has to avoid a whale swimming ahead.

An ocean horizon with the top of a whale coming from some distance, ‘rolling’ through the water, showing waterspout and splashing his tail.

At 1:25 min, whale is close to camera and makes a big dive and then pops back up to ‘wave’ his tail at the camera, then goes back off into the distance.

Animation 6 Page 42. Swiper thinks a shark is going to get him.

One shark fin circling above the ocean for 10 seconds, then jumps out of the water to reveal it is only a guppy. Fade when fish hits water again.


THEATRE AND PRODUCTION INFORMATION:

The Brisbane Arts Theatre is the city’s oldest community theatre company. It is a registered charity and does not receive any government funding, nor is eligible for government grants. It generates income solely from ticket sales.

Dora the Explorer: Dora’s Pirate Adventures is a part of the 2012 children’s theatre programme. Its 11-week season is scheduled during a busy theatre period over the Christmas holidays. Audience numbers of ~3,400-4,050 are anticipated for the run.

The cast of 15 is made up of volunteers from 9yo to 24yo. The production team consists of 5 volunteers.

We’re seeking a young creative, perhaps a video art student, who is willing to volunteer their skills and experience to the project. Credit for works produced will be offered in the production’s programme and advertising space can be offered, if desired by the designer. The theatre can also offer complimentary passes to the show.
