THE grassland of east Africa looks bare and dry but it is full of food. Plant-eating animals like giraffes and elephants chew the leaves or twings of trees.

Herds of zebra and gazelle feed on the grass. But there are also meat- eaters here. Lions and cheetahs hunt the zebras and the gazelles.

Any meat they leave is quickly finished up by jackals and vultures.

There are even locusts they eat anything they find in there way.

Have you ever heard of sand grouse? The sand grouse

Has to fly a long way to find Water but its youg canot Fly .how do they dring? The adult sand grouse Has spongy feathers on its Front. It soaks these feathers In in the water,then flies Home. The young suck the Water from the feathers.
