During the six week animal reading challenge, we were asked to read a different animal book each week and talk about what we learned in our journal. Our parents had to make sure we were keeping up with our reading project by putting their name next to each book on the animal reading challenge checklist.
In class, we were able to make our own animal book s. My book was about tigers.
Why are animals fun to read about?
According to Alex, animals are fun to read about because they are wild and make lots of different noises.
Ashley’s 1st Journal Assignment Student: Ashley Jones Book: Mia the Beach Cat
Journal Assignment 1 The reason I chose this book is
because I like cats. This book reminded me of the time my family went to the beach with my cat Blossom. This book reminds me of my cat because they both do some of the same silly things. I like playing with my cat outside. My cat likes playing with my friends too. This book was so good, I can’t wait to read my next reading assignment.
This is my cat Blossom.
When Ms. Jones asked her 2nd grade class what was their favorite animal topic, the majority of
the class rated the octopus as #1.
When Ms. Jones asked her class which animal had the most similar characteristics of a human,
the class reported the following: 30%ELEPHANT
70%GORILLA
What is the correct answer?

Did you know polar bears can swim up to a 100 miles in one stretch. That’s really cool.
Reading is important because if you can’t read you will not be able to get a good job. I want to work with animals when I
grow up, and that is why I love reading about animals.
