In the meanwhile, Isheys friend ,Angmo,looked around quite thrilled . The magpies outsidetrilled a pretty song and paused in between to pickup the grains all around.She was sure this wouldbe her best vacation ever!

Seeing Angmo,all of Isheysfriends and cousins came running towelcome her.The whole day they played

on the hills and dales .It was a Sundayand all the children were around. Thenext morning they would be at school.In Ladakh they had long vacationsin the winter but one in the spring

unlike Angmo who lived in Delhiand had summer vacations.

Soon the sun set .All her friends wenthome to study and Ishey ran off ahead.Angmo was just climbing down a hill whenshe twisted her leg .She cried out hopingsomeone would hear her.Suddenly she missed

her parentsthey had gone to the neighbouringVillage,Likir, to fetch Isheys aunt.She had beenso caught with up playing with her friends she

didnt even notice them go.But now she wishedshe were there.

Uncle Dorjay heard her and helped her on to hisback.Seeing her in pain he tried to divert herattention telling her about his adventures in thehillhe told her of how he fell down a cliff andthen had to go to the doctor to get his footstitched uphe fought the nurses and theyended up accidentally injecting themselves!

Back home uncle Dorjay brought out Grannyswheelchair and helped Angmo on to it.He alsopromised to tell Angmos parents so theywouldnt be worried;hed be visiting Likir soonafter.

Angmo felt sad this was not the vacation sheplanned for herself.She wouldnt be able to move orrun around or climb hills.She would be sitting all by

herself in the house with nothing to do while thechildren would be out all day.

Seeing her so crestfallenIshey and her brother Otsalbrought out their cat,,Thimpu, for Angmo to playwith.But Thimpu escaped from Isheys grasp and

ran crazily around the house dropping vesselsand tearing through clothes!Everyone laughedand laughed and granny she couldnt stoplaughing till there were tears in her eyes!

With everyone in school and her parents busyhelping Isheys parnets Angmo was all alone.It gave her time to think about the simple life in

Ladakh She had her own room fancy toys inDelhi but still complained .Here with nothing

much the children seemed so content.They evenhelped in the household chores after which theystudied all by themselvesAnd the adults wereso cheerful though the weather was so harshand there was shortage of food and water.Theyso thoughtfully gave her the wheelchair and kepther entertained. They brought her things to eatnot once complaining about the effort it took

them.Angmo realised that she needed to learn

from their generosity

feeling this was one of her bestvacations.She decided she would goback to Delhi and tell her class aboutthe simple people in Ladakh andtheir winning ways.
