Children under 18 can receive hygiene services, including cleaning, x-rays, fluoride, and sealants, all at no cost. TWU Program Director Randa Col- bert says dental care is crucial during childhood because tooth decay remains the most prevalent chronic disease among chil- dren in the U.S. Appointments can be made by calling the TWU Dental Hygiene Clinic at 423-252-1475. This will require an estimated property tax increase of about 10 cents; the exact amount to be voted-on later. Congressman Chuck Fleischmann has been selected to serve on three key House Appropriations subcommittees. He will serve on the House Appropriations Labor, Health and Human Services, Edu- cation, and Related Agencies Subcommittee, the Energy and Water Development, and Related Agencies Subcommittee, and the Home- land Security Subcommittee which Fleischmann leads as the top Republican. The Etowah Carnegie Library continues to have Facebook Live programs. On Thursday at 4 p.m. there will be a Pug-themed Story- time with Craft. Grab and go craft packets for the month of Febru- ary are available for pickup at the library. Also February’s teens and adults self-care program is journaling. James “Jim” Hughes Hines, age 82, of Ten Mile, died Febru-

ary 1st. He was born in Athens. He served in the U.S. Navy for

two years. He was an Eagle Scout, owned two grocery stores in

the 1980’s at Watts Bar Lake, and then retired from Jackson

Manufacturing in Cleveland in 2000. A graveside service will be held this Saturday, Feb. 6th, at 1 p.m. at Cedar Grove Cemetery

(new section). At a later date in the Spring, there will be a memo-

rial service at the family home on Watts Bar Lake. Smith Funeral

and Cremation Services is in charge of the arrangements.

Martin Allen Knox, age 51, of Athens, died Monday at his

home. Graveside services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. in the

Clearwater Baptist Church Cemetery.

Shirley J Amos Arnwine, age 73, of Niota, died January 19th

at her home. She was named “Miss Etowah” in 1964. A gathering

of the immediate family was held Jan. 23rd. A Celebration of Life

will be held on March 21st at Marshall Hill Baptist Church.

check of the proceeds received from their annual Festival of Trees
